They attract their prey using the reddish lining of their leaves. On the inside of the leaf surface, there are tiny hairs. When touched, these hairs trigger the leaves to rapidly snap shut on the unsuspecting prey and the interlocking teeth lining the leaf seal the trap shut and digest the prey. -> me living in the hussain household lol

an unusually busy friday
i started college 2 months ago and i’ve been struggling with getting used to the routine of it. my day starts at a different time every day, so there is no consistency. fridays are usually chill since i have only 2 classes. general english and econ.
it wasn’t until last week that i was informed that i also have psychology labs on fridays. it was such a downer when i found out bc i used to look forward to attending my two classes and go back home rest and read my books!
i have been reading A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihira and i am so excited to find out how the book ends. it’s in an incredibly written book and i plan on writing a review on it the moment i am done reading it.
i woke up early to spend time with my long distance fiancé but he was busy. so i had breakfast and texted him whenever he was free. there is a fest going on in my college so i had to dress according to theme which was ‘cartoon characters’. i had nothing other than this Tom and Jerry jersey that i bought in 2020 from H&M. i did my everyday skin care and makeup and was ready to leave!
today, i was dropped off to college by my dad and ofc, we fought. it was a rough start to my day but we persist! i was an hour early to college so i called my fiancé and i spoke to him while i waited for my class to start. time always moves too fast when i am talking to him. before i knew it, it was 11:40 AM and i had to rush to my class.
after my first class, i headed to the basketball court to meet my friend, siya and i was greeted by her and our other friend, sanskriti. we spoke about our schedules and then parted way to attend our respective classes. siya and i are classmates so we headed in the same direction when we received a message from our teacher saying that she was cancelling the class bc she wanted her students to take part in the fest! (isn’t that cute!!) it was still only 12:50 PM so we decided to give our psychology lab book for xerox and then spend some time in the court. we hung out in the court till it was time for us to go to psychology lab and when we reached the lab the professor took our attendance and told us to leave, which was again, a good surprise!
siya, sanskriti and i had decided to watch It Ends With Us (featuring Blake Lively. hello?!) in the evening. The movie was at 6:10 and we had plenty of time bc it was just 2:45. siya and i decided to go to her house via metro and sanskriti would meet us at the theatre. The two of us reached her house and we played dress up and had food and before we knew it, it was already time for us to leave for the movie. we took a metro again and it was so fun! here is a picture from the metro station:
After watching the movie, which was truly an intense experience, my friends left and i was waiting for my family to join me for dinner. we all had authentic Andhra food which was heavenly!
we then came back home, which was a long ride and i spent time with my partner and went to bed.
this was one of those fridays where so much was happening and it was hectic! looking forward to next week where i only have to attend my classes+lab and come back home and sleep! :)

im stuck here. im stuck in this house. im stuck in this life. im stuck in the constant cycle of self destruction. im stuck. im stuck in the abuse that never seems to stop. or stops for just a brief period of time before it comes back again and destroys everything that i have built. the lull befor the storm. it makes me wonder if there more to life than this? more than being reminded everyday that i can't even call myself a woman without being shamed for it. more than always being looked down as the "fuck up" of th family. more than fighting with my family every single day. more than being harassed for being sexually liberal. i used to have hope that things would get better. four years ago i had decided that i would live for the hope of it all. i even wanted to get it tattooed on my arm as a reminder. thank fuck i didnt get it done. im no longer waiting for things to get better. im no longer waiting for my family to be kinder and more gentle. im no longer waiting for my heart to fix itself like it always does.
