Let's talk Flight Rising OCs.

This is Tober. He is kinda not the last surviving member of his family, who perished when the Aether Space Station crashed. He collects stickers, and uses scratch-n-sniff stickers to label things and understand them. His antennae can smell/taste the scent, and scent memory is powerful, so as he learns to speak Sornieth Common from reading books he forms stronger, more-lasting memories. For example, books for healing magic have banana scented stickers to help him locate them in the Lanternlea College Library.

But as I said, there's kinda another survivor.

This is Friday. He is the reason Tober is only 'kinda' the last survivor. Friday died in the crash. But, he got better.

Don't get me wrong, he was very, very dead, and his luminescent scars are testament to the extent of the damage done to his body in the crash... But when Friday and Tober were discovered together in the wreckage, somehow he was still conscious and breathing despite being practically exsanguinated by his injuries. Tober was quite young at the time and unable to communicate, though ship records indicated that Friday is Tober's biological elder brother. Something happened after Friday was killed. Should have been killed, and the only witness is a largely nonverbal child. Friday is miraculously recovering, however he has experienced some brain damage. He is still lively and charming when lucid, however he requires an AAC (a tome enchanted to summon a word/accompanying picture as it is thought by the one holding it) to communicate. This tome was the invention of Silence.

Silence is the head librarian at the Lanternlea College Library. He is also Friday and Tobers' new carer. As a fellow Ice dragon who felt for the Aether brothers' plight he volunteered for the role when it was discovered no other family remained to care for the pair. Silence felt he was uniquely equipped to care for the Aethers, giving them ample access to written knowledge and a comfortable dwelling that is already adapted to the needs of the heavy-set Coatl. He would never confess that his original intention was selfish; it was quite clear to Silence that somehow Tober was capable of using Ice Magic to defy death... And has done so, at least once. Despite those initial intentions he has grown to adore his new house-guests, and was delighted when the pair started referring to him as their 'brother', returning the gesture in-kind. Teaching Tober to read and (hopefully) speak may help Silence answer some fascinating questions, but as of yet Tober mostly speaks aloud with his brother, and rarely speaks Sornieth Common at all. He demonstrates clear understanding of everything Silence says, and regularly demands (in his way) that Silence read to him. Silence is certain the child is capable, but he also knows that pushing him to speak before he is ready will get them all nowhere. Tober is included in Friday's regular speech therapy, and Silence will have to wait.

Next batch of breed re-imagining is here, this time with aethers and fae. It may be just me, but I’ve always associated Arcane with bugs, cephalopods, and rodents, and since a cephalopod take would alter them too much I went with rodent bug buddies.
