Hi there!! So I just recently got back into Dreamcatcher after taking a break from kpop for like 3-ish years and it's like I never stopped listening to them (like JiU once said: "Dreamcatcher is like a black hole; once you get in, you can't get out" (it's scarely accurate lol))...anyway, I just wanted to tell you that those 3-ish years ago, I found your blog and read like every deukae fic of yours and since I got back into it again, I read em again and god I forgot how good they were...I don't know if you're still writing for them (or still writing in general), but if so I'd be really happy to have some more 8th member fics... obviously not pressuring you to write anything and if you don't want to, you don't need to :)
Hope you have an amazing day or night, depending on where you live and I hope you and your family stay safe and healthy!! <3
oh my god 🥺 this is honestly so-
I'm actually kinda speechless but the whole reason I've actually kept this blog up is because of Dreamcatcher and i have no plans of leaving it all behind no matter how much i joke about quitting kpop
i do have a bunch of fics in my drafts and i am planning to write everything and having them posted. I'm just too focused with college since I'm graduating in two months
i hope you all are doing amazing even when I'm not around as much anymore, you guys have all been amazing and I'm really really happy that my stories have reached such a big and supportive community

Lost with Everything in Between
Idol: Jeon Heejin & Jeong Jinsol (Artms)
Heejin had gone to the party to distract herself, but she didn't realize how her idea of a distraction would lead to a chain of complicated and messy events just because she liked a girl.
Word count: 6.1k
Warning: toxic relationship, Jinsol is a mess, someone gets slapped, cheating of sorts, Heejin is a little morally gray in this fic, reader is hurt and humiliated, slight sexual implication, alcohol consumption
A/n: did i really write a fic with my two Loona biases? yes, yes i did
☕buy me a coffee☕
Jeon Heejin walked into the venue, the party already at full swing when she arrived with her best friend, Kim Hyunjin. Heejin wasn't much of a party girl but she figured one night wouldn't be so bad. She needed a distraction from her ongoing crush, whom she can't seem to find in her to approach. Y/n was always the one initiating conversation between them, always kind and thoughtful - part of the reason Heejin liked her in the first place. But what made her predicament so much worse was knowing that said crush already had a girlfriend - or rumored rather, with a girl older than Heejin known as Jeong Jinsol.
But her plans of distracting herself seemed to backfire because almost 2 hours into the party and Heejin's eyes landed on the couple making out on the couch not too far away.
Jinsol had her hands resting on Y/n's waist while the latter had her fingers tangled in Jinsol's hair.
Heejin had frozen on the spot, her eyes locked on the way Y/n smiled against Jinsol's lips, breaking the kiss the two were sharing as the older girl held her closer, whispering something Heejin was too far, with the music too loud, to hear. Rumored or not, they definitely looked like they were more than friends.
Heejin felt her chest tighten, the scene in front of her burning into her mind like an unwanted photograph. Her grip on the cup in her hand tightened as she forced herself to look away, her heart sinking as she tried to steady her breathing. Hyunjin, standing beside her and already several drinks deep, noticed the shift in Heejin's demeanor.
"You good?" Hyunjin asked, her voice light but tinged with concern as she leaned closer. Heejin gave her a small nod, forcing a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes.
"I'm fine," Heejin lied, her voice strained. "Just need some air, I think."
Hyunjin raised an eyebrow but didn’t press, giving her a quick pat on the shoulder. "Alright, but don't disappear on me, okay? I'll be around."
Heejin nodded, muttering a quick thanks before slipping through the crowd, weaving past drunken laughter and music that suddenly felt too loud. She stepped outside onto the balcony, the cool night air biting at her skin as she leaned against the railing.
She took a deep breath, her gaze drifting to the city lights stretching out before her. The party continued to thrum behind her, but out here, the world felt quieter—less suffocating.
Why did she let herself hope, even a little? She had always known there was a chance Y/n was taken, yet seeing it with her own eyes stung far more than she expected. She tried to shake the image from her mind, but it lingered—Y/n's soft smile, the way she seemed so at ease in Jinsol's arms.
"Stupid," Heejin muttered under her breath, running a hand through her hair as she stood there for a few minutes. "Why did I even let myself—"
"Heejin?"
The sound of her name caught her off guard, and she turned to see Y/n standing in the doorway, her brows furrowed with concern. Her lips—still slightly red, Heejin noticed bitterly—were pressed into a thin line as she stepped closer.
"Are you okay? You seemed a little upset when I saw you." Y/n asked, her voice as warm and kind as ever, and it made Heejin's chest ache.
"Yeah," Heejin replied quickly, plastering on a smile she hoped was convincing. "Just needed some air. The party's a bit much for me."
Y/n nodded, leaning against the railing beside her. "I get that. Jinsol unnie dragged me here, but I'm not much of a party person either."
The mention of Jinsol's name made Heejin's stomach twist, but she forced herself to keep her expression neutral. "Oh," she said simply, not trusting herself to say more.
Y/n glanced at her, as if searching for something in her face, but she didn’t press. Instead, she let the silence stretch between them, the distant hum of the city filling the space.
After a moment, Y/n smiled softly. "You know, I'm glad you're here, though. It's nice seeing a familiar face."
Heejin swallowed hard, her heart betraying her with a small flutter despite everything. "Yeah," she said quietly, her voice barely above a whisper. "It's nice seeing you too."
But deep down, she couldn't help but wish things were different. That she was the one who could make Y/n smile like that—not someone else.
Heejin stared at Y/n for a while, her heart racing as the words spilled out. "So… you and Jinsol unnie… you're dating?"
Y/n blinked at her, seemingly caught off guard by the abrupt question. She rubbed the back of her neck, cheeks tinged with a faint blush as she avoided Heejin's gaze. "Uh… no, not anymore," she admitted quietly.
The words hung in the air between them, but Heejin’s confusion and curiosity pushed her to press further. "But… you two were together before?"
Y/n sighed, leaning against the railing as her shoulders slumped slightly. "Yeah, we were," she said, her voice tinged with something Heejin couldn't quite place—regret, maybe, or frustration. "But it’s over. It has been for a while now."
"Then why…?" Heejin gestured vaguely, her mind flashing back to the scene inside, to the way Jinsol had held Y/n so close, the way Y/n had smiled against her lips, the way they kissed like it meant something.
"It’s… complicated," Y/n said, hesitating before continuing. "Jinsol unnie ended things between us, but she… she doesn’t really let me go either."
Heejin frowned, her chest tightening at the subtle pain in Y/n's tone. "What do you mean?"
Y/n exhaled slowly, staring down at her hands. "It's like… even though we're not together anymore, she still gets jealous. If someone flirts with me or even talks to me for too long, she steps in. I don’t know if it’s because she still has feelings for me or if she just doesn’t want anyone else to have me."
Her voice grew quieter, almost as if she were ashamed to admit it. "And the worst part is, I… I let her. Because a part of me still feels something for her, even though I know I shouldn’t."
Heejin’s heart sank, watching the way Y/n’s expression softened into something so vulnerable, so conflicted. "So you two…" she started carefully, "you’re not…?"
Y/n shook her head. "No. Not anymore. We’re just… used to each other, I guess. It’s easier to go back to what’s familiar than to face the fact that it’s really over." She paused, her voice barely above a whisper. "But it is over. I know that. And I know she does too."
The admission hung heavy in the air, and Heejin didn’t know what to say. The messy, complicated relationship between Y/n and Jinsol made her heart ache, not just for her own unrequited feelings but for the quiet pain she could see in Y/n’s eyes. It wasn't healthy nor was it fair.
"You don’t deserve to be strung along like that," Heejin said softly, surprising even herself with the conviction in her voice. "You deserve someone who makes you feel wanted. Someone who doesn’t make you second-guess everything."
Y/n looked at her, her lips curving into a faint, bittersweet smile. "Maybe," she murmured. "But it’s not always that simple, is it?"
Heejin didn’t respond, her mind spinning with everything she wanted to say but couldn’t. The way she wanted to tell Y/n that she deserved more than Jinsol’s mixed signals and jealousy. That she deserved someone who would choose her without hesitation.
But instead, she stayed quiet, her heart heavy with the weight of her unspoken feelings.
Though that didn't last for long, not when Heejin had enough alcohol in her system, enough to cloud her judgement. She didn’t realize the words had left her mouth until she saw the stunned expression on Y/n’s face. Her heart was pounding so hard it echoed in her ears, but the alcohol in her veins urged her forward, blocking out the voice in her head screaming that this was a terrible idea.
"I can do better," Heejin said, her voice trembling but resolute. "I can be better."
Y/n blinked, her eyes wide as she tried to process the sudden confession. "Heejin…"
But Heejin wasn’t done. She had already bitten the bullet, already thrown herself into the deep end, and there was no turning back now. "I know this isn’t fair. I know you’re dealing with a lot, and I probably shouldn’t be saying this now, but I… I don’t know when I’ll ever get the chance to say it again."
Y/n opened her mouth to respond, but Heejin pressed on, taking a shaky step closer. "You deserve someone who will put you first. Someone who won’t leave you feeling like you’re not enough or keep you stuck in this… this limbo." Her voice cracked, and she cursed herself for being so vulnerable. "And I want to be that person. For you."
The sincerity in her words seemed to take Y/n’s breath away, and for a moment, neither of them spoke. The silence stretched between them, the weight of Heejin’s confession heavy in the cool night air.
"Heejin…" Y/n finally said, her voice soft, almost hesitant. "You don’t get it. Jinsol and I… it’s messy. Complicated. I don’t want to drag you into this."
"I don’t mind," Heejin said quickly, her voice firm despite the rapid beating of her heart. She stepped closer, the distance between them shrinking until they were barely a breath apart. Her hand moved almost on its own, gently cupping Y/n’s cheek, her thumb brushing lightly against her skin.
Y/n’s eyes searched hers, filled with uncertainty, but Heejin’s gaze didn’t waver. "I don’t care how messy it is," she whispered, her voice trembling with emotion. "I don’t care if you’re not ready or if you still need time to figure things out. I just… I need you to know how I feel."
Her courage was fading, slipping through her fingers like sand, but she clung to it for one last moment. Before she could second-guess herself, Heejin leaned in, closing the gap between them.
Their lips met in a soft, tentative kiss, and for a moment, the rest of the world faded away. It wasn’t perfect—it was messy, impulsive, and filled with all the unspoken feelings Heejin had kept bottled up for so long. But it was real.
When they pulled apart, Y/n stared at her, wide-eyed and speechless. Heejin’s hand lingered on her cheek, her thumb still brushing against her skin as she whispered, "I mean it. I don’t mind."
Y/n’s lips parted as if to say something, but the words didn’t come. Instead, she simply stood there, caught between the weight of Heejin’s confession and the tangle of emotions she was already carrying.
And for the first time that night, Heejin didn’t regret a thing.
However, one kiss was not enough.
Heejin didn’t know if it was the alcohol, the adrenaline, or just the overwhelming desire she had suppressed for far too long, but when she pulled back to catch her breath and looked at Y/n, she couldn’t stop herself from leaning in again.
Her heart stuttered as she searched Y/n’s face, half-expecting her to pull away, to stop her, to tell her this was a mistake. But instead, Y/n leaned closer, her eyes flickering to Heejin’s lips for the briefest moment.
That was all the permission Heejin needed.
Her hands found Y/n’s waist, gently pulling her closer as she surged forward for another kiss. This time, it wasn’t tentative or cautious. It was hungry, fervent, filled with everything she had been holding back for so long. And when Y/n recovered from her initial surprise, she responded in kind, her hands moving to cup Heejin’s face, pulling her even closer.
Heejin’s breath hitched at the sensation, at the way Y/n’s fingers felt against her skin, at the way her lips moved with equal passion. It was intoxicating, dizzying, and Heejin doubled her efforts, pouring everything she had into the kiss.
In that moment, she didn’t care if someone walked in and saw them. She didn’t care if the entire party stopped to stare or if Jinsol herself saw what was happening. In fact, a small, petty part of Heejin hoped Jinsol did see them—to show her exactly what she was losing, what she had carelessly let slip away.
But none of that truly mattered. The only thing Heejin cared about was the girl in her arms, the girl who was kissing her back with just as much fervor, pulling her closer as though she didn’t want to let go.
Heejin’s grip on Y/n’s waist tightened, her hands sliding around her back as she held her close, so close she could feel the rapid beat of Y/n’s heart against her own. It was messy, desperate, and overwhelming, but it was everything Heejin had ever wanted.
And for that moment, she let herself forget about everything else—the complications, the doubts, the fear of what would happen next. All that mattered was Y/n, here and now, kissing her like she meant it.
When they finally pulled apart, both of them were breathless, their hair slightly mussed, and their faces flushed. Y/n stared at Heejin, her gaze unreadable but soft, before she let out a shaky exhale and rested her head against Heejin’s shoulder. Her arms wrapped loosely around Heejin’s waist, and she buried her face in the crook of Heejin’s neck.
"I don’t want to hurt you," Y/n whispered, her voice muffled against the other's skin.
Heejin’s arms tightened around her instinctively, her hands gently stroking her back. "I know," she murmured, her voice steady despite the emotions swirling inside her. "But I know what I’m getting into. And if it’s for you, I don’t care about the consequences."
Y/n didn’t respond right away, but Heejin felt the way her shoulders relaxed slightly, as though she found some solace in Heejin’s embrace. The noise of the party faded into the background, and for a moment, it felt like they were in their own little world.
But the peace didn’t last.
The door creaked open, and the sound made both of them tense. Heejin turned her head just in time to see Jinsol standing there, framed by the light spilling out from the party. The older girl’s gaze fell on them, taking in the way Y/n was still in Heejin’s arms. Her expression faltered for the briefest moment—so brief Heejin almost missed it—but Jinsol quickly schooled her features into a casual, easy smile.
"Y/n," Jinsol called, her voice warm and familiar. She stepped forward, her hands in her pockets, and her tone was light as though nothing was out of the ordinary. "There you are. I’ve been looking for you."
Y/n stiffened slightly in Heejin’s arms, her gaze flickering to the other girl. Reluctantly, she pulled away, her warmth leaving Heejin as she took a step back. She glanced at Heejin, her expression apologetic, before she turned to Jinsol.
"Sorry," Y/n said quietly as she approached Jinsol.
Jinsol smiled down at her, a soft, almost intimate look that made something twist uncomfortably in Heejin’s chest. Without hesitation, Jinsol wrapped an arm around Y/n’s waist, pulling her close. "Come on, let’s head back inside. You’ve been out here too long, I bet you're cold."
Heejin stood frozen as she watched Jinsol lead Y/n back inside, her arm still draped possessively around her waist. The door swung shut behind them, leaving Heejin alone in the cool night air.
Her hands clenched into fists at her sides, but even as a pang of jealousy and frustration coursed through her, there was still a spark of hope.
Y/n didn’t push her away.
Y/n kissed her back.
And by the time Heejin made her way back inside to join her friends, she was still riding the faint buzz of adrenaline mixed with the warmth of the alcohol coursing through her veins. Hyunjin gave her a long, questioning look the moment she plopped down beside her, her brow raised as if silently demanding answers.
“What’s with the smile?” Haseul asked, leaning closer as she sipped her drink.
Heejin quickly schooled her expression into something neutral. “What smile?” she replied casually, grabbing a drink from the table to avoid meeting their gazes. “It’s nothing.”
But Hyunjin wasn’t buying it. “You disappeared for a while,” she said suspiciously, leaning closer to scrutinize her best friend. “And considering who we saw earlier…” Her voice trailed off, clearly referring to Y/n and Jinsol.
Heejin tensed but didn’t give anything away. Hyunjin didn’t know what had happened out on the balcony—and she wouldn’t. That moment belonged to her and Y/n, a secret tucked away in the quiet corner of her heart.
So she shrugged, brushing it off. “I just needed some air. It’s nothing.”
Hyunjin narrowed her eyes but dropped the subject as Haseul changed the topic to something else. Heejin exhaled in relief, taking a sip from her drink and letting the conversation swirl around her. She was halfway through her drink when the subject unexpectedly circled back to Y/n.
“You know,” Haseul began, her tone thoughtful, “I feel bad for Y/n sometimes.”
The sudden mention made Heejin freeze, her grip tightening on her drink as Haseul continued.
“I saw Jinsol earlier,” Haseul said, glancing around the table. “She was cozying up to Kim Jungeun—again—just a while ago. And this was after she was practically making out with Y/n on the couch. It’s just… messy.”
Heejin’s stomach churned as she pieced it together. Jungeun must’ve been with Jinsol while she and Y/n were out on the balcony. While Heejin had been holding Y/n close, sharing something genuine, Jinsol had been off with someone else—again.
And the difference between them couldn’t have been clearer.
What had happened between Heejin and Y/n wasn’t perfect, but Y/n had been hesitant, vulnerable, and honest. She hadn’t led Heejin on or made false promises. Even when Y/n kissed her back, she’d still tried to protect her from the mess of her emotions.
Jinsol, on the other hand, was deliberately keeping Y/n in her orbit, refusing to let her go while seeking comfort in others like Jungeun. It wasn’t fair—it wasn’t right.
“Pathetic,” Hyunjin muttered under her breath, shaking her head. “Jinsol doesn’t deserve Y/n.”
And Heejin couldn’t have agreed more.
She stared into her drink, her mind swirling with thoughts of Y/n and the way she’d looked at her on the balcony—conflicted but genuine. Whatever mess Jinsol had created, Heejin would find a way to cut through it.
Y/n deserved better.
And Heejin was determined to prove that she could be that for her.
Heejin tried to subtly look for Y/n as the party went on. She hasn't seen her since Jinsol pulled her away from the balcony. She doesn't even understand why the older girl decided to look for Y/n when she was too busy with Jungeun.
However when her eyes finally landed on Y/n's familiar figure, she was wrapped up in Jinsol's arms who was gently leading her to one of the bedrooms upstairs, and Heejin's heart dropped at the thought of what Jinsol was trying to do. The uncertain look on Y/n's face told her enough, but Jinsol only placed a gentle hand against her cheek and said a few words that seemed to ease Y/n, albeit a little.
The way Jinsol held her and looked at her like she was the most precious thing in the world would have probably fooled Heejin if she didn't know the truth. The loving and fond look in Jinsol's eyes made her want to hurl, but a kiss on the forehead had been all Heejin saw before Jinsol finally tugged Y/n upstairs with her.
Heejin clenched her fists, the drink in her hand long forgotten as she watched Y/n disappear up the stairs with Jinsol. Her stomach churned, a mixture of anger and helplessness bubbling inside her. The sight of Jinsol’s tender gestures—the gentle touch, the soft words, the kiss on the forehead—was infuriating. If Heejin hadn’t known better, she might have believed the act, might have thought that Jinsol truly cared for Y/n.
But Heejin did know better. She knew the way Jinsol kept Y/n close while entertaining others, refusing to let her move on, trapping her in this vicious cycle of hope and heartbreak.
And Y/n… the uncertainty in her eyes before Jinsol spoke was seared into Heejin’s mind. Y/n didn’t look like someone who wanted to go upstairs, and yet, Jinsol had a way of making her stay, of weaving words that would ease her doubt just enough to pull her back in.
Heejin gritted her teeth, her heart aching at the thought of what might happen behind those closed doors. She wanted to do something, to step in and pull Y/n away, but what could she do? She wasn’t Y/n’s girlfriend, wasn’t anyone important in her life yet. And Jinsol… Jinsol had a hold on Y/n that Heejin couldn’t break—not yet, at least.
“Hey, are you okay?” Hyunjin’s voice broke through her thoughts, her best friend’s brows furrowed in concern.
Heejin forced herself to take a deep breath, to shake off the storm raging inside her. “Yeah,” she said, her voice quieter than she intended. “I’m fine.”
But Hyunjin wasn’t convinced. “You’ve been staring at the stairs like they personally offended you. What’s going on?”
“It’s nothing,” Heejin lied, her eyes flickering back to the staircase. “Just… nothing.”
Hyunjin didn’t press further, though the suspicious look in her eyes didn’t waver. Heejin was grateful for the silence, even as her mind raced with thoughts of Y/n and Jinsol.
She didn’t know what Jinsol had said to Y/n, but Heejin knew one thing for certain: she wasn’t going to let Jinsol keep playing with Y/n’s heart.
Not anymore.
Heejin made up a random excuse before leaving her friends and then made her way upstairs, her heart pounding in her chest as she scanned the hallway for any sign of which room Y/n and Jinsol had gone into. Her steps were quiet, her breath shallow as she passed door after door, listening for any clue. It wasn’t until she heard a faint murmur of voices and the occasional creak of a bed that her stomach twisted in knots.
Swallowing her nerves, Heejin hesitated briefly before turning the doorknob and pushing the door open.
The sight before her made her stomach drop. Y/n was lying on the bed, her shirt discarded on the floor, her skin marked with fresh hickeys. Jinsol was leaning over her, pressing kisses to her collarbone and jaw, her hands resting possessively on Y/n’s waist.
Both of them froze when Heejin stepped inside. Y/n’s eyes widened in shock, guilt and shame washing over her features the moment she recognized Heejin. Jinsol, on the other hand, turned her head slowly, her expression morphing into one of annoyance when she recognized her face.
“Can we help you?” Jinsol asked coldly, her tone laced with irritation.
Heejin’s mind raced, but she quickly schooled her expression into one of feigned confusion. “Oh,” she said, letting out a nervous laugh as she raised a hand to her temple, “sorry. I thought this was the bathroom.”
Y/n immediately pushed Jinsol off her, scrambling to sit up as she reached for her discarded shirt. “Heejin, are you okay?” she asked, concern evident in her voice as she pulled her shirt back on.
Heejin nodded quickly, forcing herself to look away from Y/n and Jinsol as she stepped back. “Yeah, I’m fine,” she said, slurring her words just enough to sound convincing. “I just—ugh, I think I had a little too much to drink.” She pretended to sway slightly, leaning against the doorframe for support.
Jinsol sighed loudly, clearly irritated by the interruption. “There’s a bathroom down the hall. Maybe you should use that instead of barging in here.”
But Y/n shot Jinsol a look, silencing whatever else she was about to say. “Don’t be rude,” Y/n muttered before standing and approaching Heejin. Her hands gently touched Heejin’s arm as she said softly, “Come on, let’s get you to the bathroom.”
Heejin allowed herself to be guided out of the room, doing her best to keep up the act of being a little drunk. Jinsol’s annoyed gaze burned into her back as Y/n shut the door behind them, leaving the older girl inside.
Once they were in the hallway, Y/n turned to Heejin, her brows furrowed in worry. “Are you really okay?” she asked quietly when they were a good distance away, her eyes scanning Heejin’s face for any sign of discomfort.
Heejin let out a soft laugh, waving a hand dismissively. “Yeah, I’m fine. Just needed an excuse to get you out of there.”
Y/n blinked in surprise, her cheeks flushing as she quickly averted her gaze. “Heejin… you didn’t have to—”
“I did,” Heejin interrupted, her voice firm but not unkind. “Y/n, you don’t have to let her do this to you.”
When they entered the bathroom, Y/n’s shoulders slumped, and she let out a shaky sigh, her guilt returning. “It’s complicated,” she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.
Heejin stepped closer, her eyes softening as she placed a gentle hand on Y/n’s arm. “It doesn’t have to be,” she said quietly. “You deserve better than this.”
Y/n bit her lip, her eyes darting back toward the bathroom door. “I… I don’t know,” she admitted, her voice tinged with uncertainty.
Heejin wanted to say more, to convince Y/n to walk away from Jinsol for good, but she held back. Pushing too hard wouldn’t help, not now. “Just think about it,” she said softly, giving Y/n a small, reassuring smile.
The two of them lingered in the bathroom, the silence between them heavy. Y/n shifted uncomfortably. She didn’t know what to say, and Heejin wasn’t sure how to let her go. Every part of Heejin wanted to pull Y/n away from this, to stop her from going back, but she knew she couldn’t make that choice for her.
Y/n finally broke the silence with a small, resigned sigh. “I should go back,” she said softly, though the hesitation in her voice was clear. “Unnie’s probably waiting for me.”
Heejin’s chest tightened at those words, and she took a small step forward, her hand reaching out but stopping short of touching Y/n. “You don’t have to,” she said quietly, her voice gentle. “You don’t owe her anything, Y/n.”
Y/n’s lips parted as if to respond, but no words came out. Instead, she looked away, the conflict evident in her eyes. “It’s not that simple,” she muttered, more to herself than to Heejin.
Before Heejin could say anything more, Y/n took a step back, her resolve shaky but present. “I’ll be fine,” she added, though the words sounded more like she was trying to convince herself. She gave Heejin a weak, apologetic smile before turning and heading back to the bedroom.
Heejin watched her go, her heart sinking with every step Y/n took. She wanted to stop her, to call her back, but the words caught in her throat. All she could do was hope that Y/n would realize she deserved better.
But when Y/n opened the door to the bedroom, it wasn’t what she expected.
There, on the bed, was Jinsol—her arms wrapped tightly around Jungeun, the two of them tangled together as they made out heavily, completely lost in each other. Jinsol’s hands roamed Jungeun’s back while Jungeun’s fingers tangled in Jinsol’s hair.
Y/n froze in the doorway, her heart dropping at the sight. She stood there for a moment, her breath caught in her throat, the image of Jinsol with another woman burning itself into her mind.
Jinsol must have sensed the door opening because she finally pulled away from Jungeun, her lips still swollen from the kiss as she turned to see Y/n standing there. Her expression faltered for just a moment before she spoke, her tone sharp. “Y/n, it’s not what it looks like—”
But Y/n didn’t wait to hear the rest. She slammed the door shut, the sound echoing down the hallway as she turned and walked away as quickly as she could. Her chest felt tight, her mind racing as she tried to process what she’d just seen.
Behind her, she could hear Jinsol calling out, her voice hurried and laced with frustration. “Y/n, wait! It’s not what you think!”
But Y/n didn’t stop. She didn’t turn around. She didn’t want to hear Jinsol’s excuses, didn’t want to face whatever manipulation was waiting for her if she stayed. All she wanted was to leave—leave the party, leave the house, leave Jinsol behind.
Her steps quickened, her breath shaky as she made her way toward the front door, desperate for the fresh air and the escape it promised.
The commotion drew the attention of the partygoers, and murmurs followed as Jinsol hurried out of the house, calling for Y/n. Adjusting her jacket, her strides were frantic as she weaved through the small crowd gathered outside, desperate to catch up.
Inside, Heejin stood frozen, her fists clenched at her sides. She had been looking toward the hallway when she heard the sound of the door slamming. Her head snapped to the source, only to see Jinsol rushing out, her tone frantic as she called Y/n’s name. A moment later, Jungeun appeared in the doorway, an embarrassed look on her face as she stepped out and adjusted her hair.
It didn’t take long for Heejin to connect the dots. Her anger flared, but she kept herself rooted, even as Jungeun brushed past her. Heejin let out a shaky breath, her gaze darting toward the front door. Without another word, she followed.
Outside, Y/n stormed toward the street, her steps quick, her breaths shallow as she tried to fight back the sting of tears threatening to fall. She didn’t get far before Jinsol caught up, grabbing her wrist to stop her in her tracks.
“Y/n, wait!” Jinsol’s voice was almost pleading, her fingers tightening around Y/n’s arm as she tried to pull her back. “Please, let me explain.”
Y/n spun around, her eyes blazing. Without thinking, her hand came up, and the sound of her palm connecting with Jinsol’s cheek echoed in the quiet night air. Jinsol stumbled slightly from the force, her free hand coming up to cradle her stinging cheek.
Y/n’s chest heaved, her hand trembling as she registered what she had done. A flicker of regret crossed her features, but the hurt and betrayal outweighed it. “I know I shouldn’t be mad,” she said, her voice shaking, but her tone was sharp, raw. “We’re done. I know that. But you didn’t have to do that to me.”
Jinsol’s expression softened, her lips parting as if to respond, but no words came out. Instead, she stepped closer, her hands reaching out. “I didn’t mean to hurt you,” she said softly, her voice cracking. “Not like this. Y/n, please. I—I don’t know what I was thinking.”
Before Y/n could respond, Jinsol suddenly dropped to her knees, wrapping her arms tightly around Y/n’s waist. “Please don’t leave like this,” she begged, her voice breaking as tears streamed down her face. “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry.”
Y/n froze, her heart warring with her mind as she stared down at Jinsol. This was the same woman who had once been her world, the same woman who had made her feel like she was enough. But now, all she felt was confusion and pain.
“Jinsol, stop,” Y/n said weakly, trying to pry the older girl’s arms away. “Please, just stand up.”
Jinsol shook her head, clinging tighter. “I can’t let you go,” she whispered. “I love you, Y/n. I know I fucked up, but I love you.”
Heejin, who had stopped a few feet away, stood frozen, watching the scene unfold. Her heart clenched as she saw Y/n’s inner turmoil, the way her body trembled as she tried to decide what to do.
Jinsol finally stood, her hands moving to cup Y/n’s face. Before Y/n could react, Jinsol leaned in, capturing her lips in a desperate, pleading kiss.
Y/n stiffened in shock, her eyes widening as Jinsol’s lips pressed against hers. For a moment, she didn’t move, the lingering feelings she still harbored for Jinsol kept her from pulling away.
Heejin’s breath caught in her throat as she watched, her nails digging into her palms. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing, the pain in her chest unbearable as she watched the girl she cared for being drawn back into Jinsol’s grasp.
When Jinsol pulled back, her teary gaze searched Y/n’s face, desperate and filled with regret. Her lips trembled as she whispered, “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt you. I love you, Y/n, I swear I do. Please, stay with me.”
But Y/n had heard those words before. Over and over again. Apologies that never carried any weight, promises that were always broken. No matter how much Jinsol promised that Y/n would always be her everything, she always had a way of making her feel like she was nothing. Her heart ached as she gently took Jinsol’s trembling hands from her face, her own shaking as she held them in hers.
“Jinsol,” Y/n whispered, her voice barely audible but heavy with emotion, “all you ever do is say you’re sorry. But you never change. You never try to be better.”
Her words hung in the air, slicing through the tension like a knife. Jinsol’s face crumpled, her lips parting as if to argue, but nothing came out. Y/n’s grip on her hands tightened for a brief moment before she let them go entirely, stepping back.
“I’ve been hurt again and again,” Y/n continued, her voice trembling but firm. “And I kept thinking… hoping… that this time would be different. That you’d finally choose me. But all you ever did was give me just enough to hold on, just enough to make me stay. You never really tried to make things better. Not for me. Not for us.”
Her words hit Jinsol like a punch to the gut, and tears spilled freely down her cheeks. “That’s not true,” she argued weakly, her voice breaking. “I—I tried—”
“No, you didn’t,” Y/n interrupted, her own tears welling in her eyes as she shook her head. “You just dangled that hope in front of me, knowing I’d keep chasing after you. But you never really wanted me, not anymore.”
The realization was a bitter pill to swallow, and Y/n’s voice cracked as she admitted it aloud. It was as if saying it finally lifted the blinders she had been wearing for so long, forcing her to confront the truth she had been avoiding.
Jinsol stood there, silent and defeated, her head bowing as Y/n’s words sank in. For once, she had no rebuttal, no clever words to convince Y/n otherwise.
But when Heejin, who had been watching from a short distance away, saw the way Y/n’s shoulders sagged as if she were about to falter, she didn’t hesitate. She stepped forward, placing a steadying hand on Y/n’s arm.
Y/n glanced up, startled by Heejin’s presence, but the warmth and reassurance in Heejin’s eyes were enough to ground her. Without a word, Heejin shifted closer, silently offering herself as a shoulder to lean on. And for the first time that night, Y/n felt a glimmer of safety, of understanding.
“Come on,” Heejin said softly, her voice gentle but firm as she carefully led Y/n away from Jinsol. “Let’s get out of here.”
Y/n hesitated for a moment, glancing back at Jinsol one last time. The older girl looked utterly broken, her knees threatening to buckle as she watched Y/n leave. But even as her heart ached at the sight, Y/n knew this was the right decision.
So she turned back to Heejin, letting herself be guided away from the person who had hurt her too many times. And for the first time in what felt like forever, Y/n felt like she was choosing herself.
