yes i DID just rewatch princess tutu (in preparation for getting the tuttoo) and i DID get emotional again abt That Thing where they call each other by their true/non-"story" names in pivotal moments. gets me every time!!!
fakir's writing tells him that he needs to call out princess tutu's name to lead her out of drosselmeyer's domain; he calls out "duck"/ahiru without hesitating. mytho declares that he is calling out the princess's name and then calls "rue," blasting open the depths of despair
rue calls her duck when she says "i love you" after referring to her only as tutu for most of the season 😭

The Very First Night is so Diana Agron coded it hurts
So, we all know about the gay rhyme scheme in The Very First Night. We have several sets of rhymes, and they get hit with "they don't know how much I miss... you", even though if Taylor wanted to make this mismatch less obvious, she could have said "ya" instead of "you", but didn't.
And (not getting to the main point here just yet) the lyric "we broke the status quo" is pretty gay, what status quo was Taylor breaking with any of the cishet white guys she was supposedly dating around this time? Not to mention the fact that the lyrics "no one knows" and "they don't know" are repeated several times throughout the song.
But that's not the focus of this post. This post is about why The Very First Night is *specifically* about Diana Agron.
Diana and Taylor attended Shirley Mclaine's Birthday party right at the beginning of their "friendship" (the very first time they were spotted together at night, too), which took place in a hotel in L.A. Diana and Taylor took pictures in the hallway together:

And Diana had the following tweet where she mentioned dancing in the hallway and kissing someone's cat, and added @ DATEME at the end of this tweet. Already very loud.

Now let's look back at the lyrics of this song.
"I remember the night in the hotel", "Don't forget about the night out in L.A., dance in the kitchen, chase me down in the hallway"
WHAT???? Taylor and Diana were at a party at a HOTEL in L.A., where Diana mentioned DANCING IN THE KITCHEN, and there's a random picture of them hanging out in the hallway together.
With that evidence, I can say with ABSOLUTE confidence that The Very First Night is about Diana Agron.
Anyway, @ohdorothea requested a full post on this when I mentioned it, and please go to her Queerest Song tournament and vote The Very First Night
