Do you think Rathma may be coming back in some way or another? Or just as a memory?

Personally, I don't think so, not in Diablo IV. Maybe we'll see his ghost again further down the line, but I had gotten the sense that after his brief conversation with the Wanderer, he'd passed his prophecy and general mission onto them, and his Soul had moved into the Afterdeath. There's been hints that they had already majorly cut his role back from the initial game, it'd be strange for them to go ahead and stick him back again.

Mmmmaybe something with the Necropolis? That would be kinda. Although I think we're more likely to encounter Kalan's ghost in that case.

It's still odd to me that they brought Rathma back just to kill him off before the game had even begun.

If he's going to show up anywhere... Diablo Immortal is doing all kinds of things with all kinds of characters. I never would have imagined we'd see Prince Albrecht or bloody Lazarus again, but here we are. Rathma should still be alive at this point, maybe hanging out in his underwater layer, or perhaps already holed up in Kasama. Maybe once the Albrecht storyline is all wrapped up we could see something more to do with the necromancers, since Lethes is still fucking about.

I'd love to know what in the world Rathma was up to during The End of Days, and Malthael's attack on Sanctuary. It never bothered me before, because Rathma was assumed to have died shortly after the Sin War's end. But now that he was apparently alive the whole time...what's up?

Mephisto, who is secretly this universe's Spiderman (oh no), and Baal, who looks extremely unbaallike. Looks more like Meph from D2 in the face-zone area.

Lilith is always smaller and to the side, although the side changes depending on where you start from.

Wouldn't Tyrael have made more sense than his man-hating brother to be represented in the dungeon for the order that he made? I guess not.

Neat thing in the latest DIV season;

They've added NPC dialogue here and there about people hearing about Zakarum's Prophet returning, or turning away from their shitty lives to go find Akarat, coz they heard hopeful rumors.

People are flocking to Mephisto.

Chapter 9! 

Shorter than I wanted but It’s taking me so long to write this part of the story TT

Summary: Before the Sin War, before Sanctuary. Mephisto and Auriel meet for the first time.

Here’s a snippet:

“Daughter?” said Auriel, a note of genuine surprise threading her voice, she’d heard of his son of course, the demon prince, but this other child seemed to allude her, unless this was fabrication and he was really conjuring children to fit his narrative “Do you lock her in a tower away from the eyes of the rest of the world? Or is that how you protect what you claim to love?” Mephisto’s expression twisted, not into rage but something colder, offended, as if she’d spoken sacrilege. “I do not love”  he said, puncturing that last word as if it were profanity. “What would an angel know of such things?” he said. “You, who are born of the Crystal Arch, and not by blood. Who call your kin ‘brother’ and ‘sister,’ and know no parenthood beyond tutelage. You reach for sentiment where there is only structure.” He leaned forward, voice tightening. “You have never forged a life from the marrow of your will. Never shaped something that bore your mark alone.” His head was so close to hers now, tearing open her conception of what life and family meant to her and her kin. “I do not love her, she is mine and that is enough” he finished, leaning away from her space. Auriel narrowed her gaze, but she was not so easily intimidated by his words “I may never bear life the way you demons do, but I do not need a blood tether to know what it feels to care for another under my wing” Her voice hardened, playing onto his games “That is more important than whatever excuse you cling to for bringing life into this world only to cast it aside like another pawn. In the end your blood ties will mean nothing without devotion woven into them. That’s not power, that’s cruelty.”

Actually no, Kor Valar is more wild than the Cathedral. Or at least just as wild. They really built that place in under 40 years? What super-goop was Inarius feeding those people.

The most unlikely part of Diablo Lore™ is actually that the Cathedral in Kyovashad was built in under 30 years. Maybe 40 if we're feeling generous (and if Prava ages like fine wine). Cathedrals like that could take actual centuries to complete irl, half a century at the quickest.

Okay but

PCR Inarius not knowing anything about Sanctuary's (relatively) recent history. He gets his feet under him after landing face-first in Sanctuary's soil, finds a sword, and immediately chooses violence. There is nothing in his core but a burning hateful wroth and he's making it every (demon's) problem.

And he is not stopping to get anything like pesky context or history lessons. He has demons to kill and goatmen to burn (goatmen weren't a thing yet last time he was here so he's targeting them too).

As a result though. He knows nothing about say. The Horadrim, or Tyrael's involvement with them. Tristram? Never heard of it. He is vaguely aware that the Worldstone Doesn't Exist Anymore, and is honestly too afraid of the answers to ask what happened there. The Hunt for the Three? Well there was some gossip in his cell about the Primes getting kicked out of Hell, but no one knew what really happened. Diablo came back? Then died? Again? Then all the evil's were gone, and that's about when he was able to get out.

His wings blipped for a minute, hopefully everything is fine in The Heavens.

(He does not know about Malthael).

And Inarius is certainly not going out of his way to try and find out. Sure, Sanctuary seems a little...emptier, than he had imagined it should be, but considering it's been left to the mercies of the Hells without him to play bouncer, well, its no wonder things are a little fucked.

Point is he gets like halfway through Estuar before encountering a Lorath, and getting Expositioned At.

And now he has So Many Questions. But is not asking any of them, bcuz fuck his brother fuck The Three and fuck Malthael and fuck these fallen demons in particular, gtfo his Sanctuary and giddafuck away from his dumb mortal posse that wont leave him alone.

I just think it's fun if he's clueless about how much BS has recently gone down on Sanctuary.
