Chat Blanc Theory

Ever since “Chat Blanc” aired all of us took displeasure of the convenient writing that Adrien just… never mentions that Hawkmoth is his father while talking about him or in general that he blames the end of the world ONLY on his and Marinettes love, when in fact that was the only guiltless aspect of that entire mess.

So you know what? Here is my Theory on it, don’t know yet if it’s maybe more of a headcanon (I lean alot more towards Theory though since Chats powers remain completely unexplored yet) but it sure as hell solves the convenience problem for me:

As Gabriel says while akumatizing Adrien, he gifts (curses) his son with the power of invinite destruction

And this is also how I explain convenient dialog of Chat Blanc.

I mean, we all have talked ESSAYS about Chat Blancs situation. Adrien was confronted with the lifeless body of his mother out of nowhere, found out that his father is Hawkmoth who then not only physically abused but emotionally abused and manipulates him. He is forced to “decide” which one to kill while already being under Hawkmoths akumatization: Marinette, the love of his life or his own Father he still cares about.

He is very understandably completely overwhelmed and manages to break his fathers orders to redirect the fatal blast at himself which unfortunately backfired like crazy and Adrien ended up not only (at LEAST) extincting the entire population of Paris including Marinette and Gabriel themselves

But he also destroyed the moon which ended up leaving the world a flooded empty wasteland.

Adrien was confirmed to be all alone in this time-line of hell for at least months while still standing under the influence of his akumatization. This is…. holy SHIT is it a miracle that Chat Blanc was as cooperative towards Marinette as he was, this is a one-way path to insanity yall!

The akumatization was the only thing saving him from having to face, live and soon die in the aftermatch of Gabriels tyrannical actions (because GABRIEL is the one to blame here, no one else), no wonder Chat Blanc never unakumatized himself and was so desperate when Marinette arrived.

But let’s get back on track. Why am I repeating all of this? How does this explain why Adrien then spoke so unbelievably convenient for the preservation of all the revealed secrets?

Well, what I think happened is that Chat Blanc over time destroyed his own memories to endure living in the ruins of the world he once wanted so desperately to be part of but now brought upon doom.

Remember Gabriel gave him the power of infinite destruction, this can manifeste in ALL kind of ways not just physical destruction. And my GOODNESS I wouldn’t blame Adrien for a second if he did so!

In fact, I think it actually would make the most sense considering what Chat Blanc then still talks about and how he does it.

He doesn’t talk about his Father being Hawkmoth, his Mothers lifeless body, how Gabriel almost forced him to kill Marinette, the abuse or even how Gabriel broke them apart with a scheme, which, remember, happened a good bit before Adriens akumatization. Adrien and Marinette worked together perfectly fine after Marinette was forced to break Adriens heart so how come Chat Blanc is now presenting is as a legitimate reason that caused the end of the world?

Actually, it’s quite simple. Everything about his and Marinettes relationship are the only things left for him to remember! Everything else, his Father, Mother, all the circumstances that influenced their doomed love in this time-line he literally destroyed out of his memory, because they brought upon too much pain. In fact, even after being deakumatized Adrien straight up doesn’t seem to remember what happened BEFORE his akumatization, which… normally isn’t how this stuff works

As I already said earlier, their love was the only legitimately and truly POSITIVE aspect of this hells time-line. They weren’t to blame in any way, everything between these two WORKED OUT in the episode and because of that their love was also everything Chat Blanc still hold onto as comfort (including Marinettes identity but… maybe not his own though, let me think about this…), which sadly ONCE AGAIN backfired on him (just like Adriens FIRST decision, to redirect the deathly blast from both Marinette and Gabriel towards himself, horribly backfired, although he made the best decision he could have done here) and turned him into a completely unreliable narrator.

Because if Chat Blanc took every painful truth out of his memory, then he only has the memories of their relationship left to explain to himself how all of this destruction and devastation he now lives in came to be.

So of course Chat Blanc would end up saying what he says to Marinette, but sadly this is now ONCE AGAIN only backfiring on Adrien EVEN MORE!

Because as we know, Marinette didn’t even came CLOSE to figuring out what actually lead to Chat Blancs creation.

(And how is that supposed to work if you have no idea how it came this far, Marinette?)

Because of Blancs unreliable narrations through (honestly UNDERSTANDABLE) memory loss she now TOO thinks that their love was the cause of the end of the world, when in fact.. their love was the only reason why Adrien/Chat Blanc was even able to redirect his deathly blast at himself (even if it didn’t had the effect he wanted) and then later hold onto ANY memories to preserve his sanity whatsoever. Their love was the only reason Ladybug even had the CHANCE to set things right as we saw very quickly when Blanc thought his Lady actually didn’t love him anymore:

So how MESSED UP is it that now Marinette unknowingly took the ONE ASPECT (Herself) out of the Chat Blanc equation that made it BEARABLE for Adrien to life through it. The ONE ASPECT that made the happy ending even possible??

It’s so messed up from every angle because LOOK at Marinettes! She was so endlessly HAPPY and relieved that HER Chat Noir is alright and that she did her best to spare him from this fate! She even called him JUST to be in his presence, THATS how much he means to her!

So how AWFUL is it that she unintentionally did the complete opposite and made it so. much. WORSE instead???

And I WISHED I could end this with a positive outlook for the future but, like, we all KNOW where s4 is going now and that Chat Blanc wasn’t prevented but delayed at MOST. Everything is happening all over again just this time it’ll be without the ONE aspect that kept Adrien/Chat Noir saveable!

Guys, we are screwed!

Fuck it, I'll say it. Marinette taking the risk to kill Adrien in Werepapas by ignoring 5 lucky charms, just to avoid there being a slither of a chance that she has to have an uncomfortable conversations or face consequences for HER actions by Adrien having NORMAL emotions, is not as big of a leap as people make it out to be.

Cause Ephemeral exist. And yes, that episode COUNTS. You don't get to decide that canon episodes aren't canon. And, no, what happened there isn't irrelevant because of the time loop. Most of the episode takes place outside of it and the Marinette we saw in it is literally the same Marinette as ours, the second time around she was just forced to turn back around instead of keep walking down the awful road she chose herself to take advantages of Chat Noir that set his doom in motion.

And that's the thing that makes Werepapas now just the next worse step to take for her instead of a whole leap. In Ephemeral, Marinette initially went on about how blameless and gorgeous she is for abusing Chat Noir's trust because that'll "keep him save" from Suhan taking his Miraculous (which is so stupidly nonsensical because now Suhan had all the power and information on Chat Noir behind Adrien's back that he could take Adrien's Miraculous without Marinette's being told of it first. Not that she ever thinks about Chat enough to notice that) and it'll keep THEM save from Shadowmoth getting both of them if either of them gets akumatized.

Marinette justified her whole awful and downright toxic and power-and-trust-abusing plan with the explanation of "it's for safety reasons"

Only to immediately throw all of that out of the window the second she sees that Adrien is Chat Noir and, to put it bluntly, she has a chance to get in his pants and have him be her perfect care taker and Prince Charming.

Marinette in Ephemeral disregarded ADRIEN'S safety BECAUSE it's Adrien and her reward was more important to her. There is no way around this. Werepapas is not out of character or far fetched, Marinette has been acting like this since season 4, you all just ignore it and think acknowledging it is "salt".

Marinette, canonically, looked in Adrien's eyes and decided that him being himself makes his safety worth being risked so Marinette can have her chance of getting in his pants as her perfect care taker and prince charming.

Werepapas CANT be out of character for her, her actions line up with previous characterization of hers to risk Adrien for her personal short term benefit and comfort, just taken one more step further which at this point is also perfectly in character for Marinette to do.

Funny how Maripologists only talk about how "all the kids were traumatized by Gabriel" in order to minimize Adrien's trauma/re-center Marinette.

Because if we're going with "all the kids were traumatized" then the logical conclusion is that they ALL deserve to be angry at Marinette for lying to them about the guy that brainwashed them. 😤

[MHA Manga Spoilers] (ಥ﹏ಥ)...💚🦎

I'll be having a good day and then remember Spinner's backstory/plotline and how no one takes him seriously & just sees him as a background character for the League.

He was born with a massive societal disadvantage from the get-go with being a mutant/heteromorph. The heteromorphic oppression in MHA definitely parallels racism with how certain heteromorphs are treated better or worse based on their mutation and place of residence.

Shoji brought this up during the riot episodes in season seven, how mutants like Tokoyami and Kota were "city kids" and living in a more urban area so they faced less open oppression and discrimination compared to himself and Spinner, who grew up in suburban locations.

Heteromorphs with certain mutations were also treated differently compared to other heteromorphs - with Spinner having a reptile mutation, a species that humans already don't like - I'd see that as a parallel to how dark-skinned POC tend to be treated worse than light-skinned/mixed POC.

Another parallel is the fact that there's an organization called the "Creature Rejection Clan" (taken down by the LOV), a religious cult-like group that goes out of their way to deny the acceptance of others with physical abnormalities such as heteromorphs/individuals with mutations - going as far to hunt them down and eliminate them. The word "Clan" in there, even spelled with a "C" instead of a "K," is enough to draw that connection.

So, for Spinner, we don't know much about how he grew up. We don't know if he finished middle/high school, but we know that by 20 years old, he was living alone. He was never taught how to drive properly, but he is the only League member who actually KNOWS how to drive. It was later confirmed by Horikoshi that Spinner learned to drive from playing GTA.

During his time living alone, he had become somewhat of a shut-in due to an experience where he was just "walking, living, out in the daylight," and hateful individuals sprayed him with insecticide (poison) just for the way that he looked.

I truly feel like this made him lose all motivation for and any concept of his future. He realized that no matter what, there would always be people out there who would limit his capabilities and oppress him. If he couldn't even go for a walk outside without being attacked for something he couldn't control, then what COULD he do with his life?

This was when he turned to Stain's ideology. He realized that if he couldn't hold his own ambitions or find his own motivation, he would make himself useful by devoting himself to someone elses cause - and Stain's ideology was something he truly believed in - a reformation of the hero society through purging the corrupt heroes who tainted it.

Shortly after Stain's arrest, however, Spinner started to devote himself to Shigaraki instead.

"For years I had nothing. I was...hollow inside."

Spinner was the only person genuinely concerned for him as Shigaraki was undergoing hell.

During Shigaraki's trial with Gigantomachia, Spinner was there - watching and asking questions.

During Shigaraki's fight with ReDestro, Spinner was there, watching Shigaraki's rebirth.

During Shigaraki's battle with Class 1-A on top of Gigantomachia, when he became unconscious, Spinner was the one trying to shake him awake, explaining how the League NEEDED him.

When Spinner started noticing the changes in Shigaraki - All for One taking over his consciousness - Spinner's concern was not only rooted in losing a leader - he was losing a friend, someone he trusted and looked up to - someone he had a common ground with.

Spinner even went as far as to allow All for One to give him an excruciatingly painful quirk, just to be able to aid and protect Shigaraki during the war.

"I never imagined I would amount to anything, but then I figured - if I followed you, I could be somebody. Shigaraki! Do you see me? Are you watching?"

"I did think about it - and all I wanted - was to keep following him. To lift him up, and...stand by him."

Imagine you've lived your entire life at an immediate disadvantage to the extent of losing all concepts of your own future, to where you only find value in yourself if you're helping another person's dream. Then, you find that one person who you share an actual common ground with, an actual shared goal and concept of the future - someone you're willing to sacrifice everything for - and you have to watch that person slowly descend into madness and internal turmoil at the hands of someone truly evil - to where neither of you can prevent it.

So you do everything that you can to still protect this person, allowing your mind and body to fall to destruction - only for them to end up getting killed in the end, with you left as one of the sole survivors.

Your team - that person - most if not all of them are gone, and you're left to ponder that. You're right back where you started with no motivations, no ambitions, but you still want the world to know what you saw in the people you considered to be your found family. So, you write a book to spread that message.

Then it's over - there's nothing left - and you're alone again. With nothing except for survivors guilt.

God I wish people gave Iguchi more credit where credit is due. He's not just some random lizard background character with no significance. He's given an actual, tragic plotline. I mean, fuck, we don't know shit about Compress, and for some reason he's still a fandom favorite over Spinner.

find books, movies, games, etc. on the internet archive! for starters, here's a bunch of David Attenborough documentaries and all of the Animorphs books

burn your music onto cds

use pdf24 (available online or as a desktop app) instead of adobe

use unroll.me to clean your email inboxes

use thunderbird, mailfence, countermail, edison mail, tuta, or proton mail instead of gmail

remove bloatware on windows PC, macOS, and iOS X
