why do i keep seeing whole videos on advice for artfight from āveteransā or whatever. hereās all the advice you need:
you donāt need to draw every day
you donāt need to fully render every drawing, sketches still count and the person receiving it will still love it
you donāt need a fully polished ref sheet for every single character, having a basic one or even just a colour palette along with whatever other art youāve done works fine in most cases
you donāt need to draw a fully rendered piece every single day do not burn yourself out or injure yourself for funny little internet points good lord
boom done thereās your 15 minute video

one more list of "troublesome" words
waiver, waver
Waiver - a relinquishment of a claim
Waver - to hesitate
whence
āAnd man will return to the state of hydrogen from whence he cameā (Sunday Telegraph).
Although there is ample precedent for from whenceāthe King James Bible has the sentence āI will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my helpāāit is nonetheless tautological.
Whence - means āfrom whereā
It is enough to say āto the state of hydrogen whence he came.ā
wound, scar
The two are not as interchangeable as writers sometimes casually make them.
A scar - what remains after a wound heals
Thus it is always wrong, or at least stretching matters, to talk about a scar healing, including in figurative senses.
who, whom
For those who are perennially baffled by the distinction between these two relative pronouns, it may come as some comfort to know that Shakespeare, Addison, Ben Jon-son, Dickens, Churchill, and the translators of the King James Bible have equally been flummoxed in their time.
The rule can be stated simply:
Whom - used when it is the object of a preposition (āTo whom it may concernā)
or verb (āThe man whom we saw last nightā)
or the subject of a complementary infinitive (āThe person whom we took to be your fatherā).
Who - used on all other occasions.

last rb lots of people seem to view inspirations as a template your copying rather than a ingredient in your new evil stew. if you tell me your new shonen manga is inspired by dragon ball iāll think youre a dipshit but if you tell me your cartoon network lesbians are inspired by dbz iāll be neurotic about them within the first season

I get how the whole "listening to music as a dick-measuring contest for who can listen to the most obscure band" thing can get grating sometimes but I don't think people realize just how vital that phenomenon is for new up and coming bands to get a foot in the door. it's understandable to be annoyed by hipsterism but unless you want all music to be industry plants and former child stars you're just going to have to accept it as part of the social ecosystem.

i think the near-extinction of people making fun, deep and/or unique interactive text-based browser games, projects and stories is catastrophic to the internet. i'm talking pre-itch.io era, nothing against it.
there are a lot of fun ones listed here and here but for the most part, they were made years ago and are now a dying breed. i get why. there's no money in it. factoring in the cost of web hosting and servers, it probably costs money. it's just sad that it's a dying art form.
anyway, here's some of my favorite browser-based interactive projects and games, if you're into that kind of thing. 90% of them are on the lists that i linked above.
A Better World - create an alternate history timeline
Alter Ego - abandonware birth-to-death life simulator game
Seedship - text-based game about colonizing a new planet
Sandboxels or ThisIsSand - free-falling sand physics games
Little Alchemy 2 - combine various elements to make new ones
Infinite Craft - kind of the same as Little Alchemy
ZenGM - simulate sports
Tamajoji - browser-based tamagotchi
IFDB - interactive fiction database (text adventure games)
Written Realms - more text adventure games with a user interface
The Cafe & Diner - mystery game
The New Campaign Trail - US presidential campaign game
Money Simulator - simulate financial decisions
Genesis - text-based adventure/fantasy game
Level 13 - text-based science fiction adventure game
Miniconomy - player driven economy game
Checkbox Olympics - games involving clicking checkboxes
BrantSteele.net - game show and Hunger Games simulators
Murder Games - fight to the death simulator by Orteil
Cookie Clicker - different but felt weird not including it. by Orteil.
if you're ever thinking about making a niche project that only a select number of individuals will be nerdy enough to enjoy, keep in mind i've been playing some of these games off and on for 20~ years (Alter Ego, for example). quite literally a lifetime of replayability.

Hey ya'll! Just an update on why this blog hasn't been as active and why there hasn't been any recent updates on fics:
I'm focused on Pride in my community as well as focusing on attending Protests this month. So, for the entirety of this month I most likely won't be active at all or very little!
Thank you all for interacting with me and my works! I'll hopefully be back soon <3

i feel like so many people misunderstand redemption arcs. theyāre not about forgiving past actions. theyāre not about softening previous behavior. redemption arcs are about realizing past behavior was heinous and resolving to be better, do better. thatās why so many redemption arcs fall apart upon close scrutiny.

what's that one thing where they asked how ripely from alien was so realistic and believable as a female character in scifi for once and they were like "well we just took the dude from the original script and made him a girl and changed nothing else. it works bc men and women are the same?" and people were like "woah no way" and then didn't learn anything from that for 20 years
