Found a bug I think, chose to stay at the motel but after MC's nightmare they're somehow at Cameron's house? Currently playing as an MC who's refusing to reconcile with their friends until they figure out what the heck happened years ago (I'm deeply curious about the incident myself!)

Ngl it's rare for me to play as an MC who's not automatically nice to their friends but them refusing to talk about what happened really is hurtful, even if it's what they thought best. Definitely digging into the wounds until it bleeds over and they're all forced to confront it.

So sorry! That bug has unfortunately been causing a lot of issues, but It will be getting fixed in the next update, which I hope to get done soon.

And I'm glad you're interested in the story and the dynamics between the characters! It's something I hope to explore a lit in this story <3

Okay, I finished reading the demo and wanted to say you do have a really interesting idea here! I loved scooby-doo so I loved the vibes the group had from the memories.

Buuut I have to say the story doesn't feel too natural for people who play resentful MCs (which I assume would be many because our so called besties haven't done a good job of painting themselves in a good light after "the incident"). I think it might be an issue of you as the author having more information on your characters and hence knowing their motivations to why they're doing what they're doing, but to the readers it's all a big '?' and there's 0 reason for MC to be even remotely nice after being abandoned and cut off with no explanations.

I think one thing that could help is let the MC investigate by themselves and ask for help AFTER they hit a wall, so at least we can go okay we tried our best but we need help. Bc I'm of the same opinion as Ro in what does this have to do with them and MC just goes idk. I think it'd be more natural after some time alone because at least then even just saying they don't want to be alone because of all the creepy stuff that's happening would make more sense?

I think there needs to be a little bit of a buffer, a chance for MC to kinda explode and get things off their chest BEFORE asking for help bc ngl while at least Cam seems regretful, all their attitudes rub me the wrong way and they're all overdue for a proper talk and/or fight before working things out imo!

I'm sorry if any of this comes out harsh or something, I usually don't think to give authors any unsolicited advice but I do want this IF to do well and think some outer perspective could help! Regardless, I wish you good health and good luck with your writing!

Thank you so much for the feedback! Thankfully I have been taking these specific points into consideration myself when rewriting the first chapter currently. Specifically because it wasn't as fleshed out, and the mc fell flat for me and others in many ways, and it wasn't as polished as I would have liked in a lot way ways. It was oddly paced in a lot of ways and I am trying to remedy that now. and I am going to be adding that buffer, that's part of why this update has taken such a long time (also because I got my degree this year and had to focus on my classes and dealing with finances lol) but I genuinely do appreciate the feedback and suggestions, they're great ideas and it didn't come off as rude to me at all.

Change of plans, instead of updating "soon", I've just updated it right now. The chapter was complete, I'd fixed all of my beta reader's reported errors... The only thing left to do was get it out to you guys. So here it is, you can play Track 3 of Press Play right here.

I am 2 weeks away from graduating so I got almost 0 work done, but! I finished rewriting the prolgue.

Demo Update (April, 24, 2025): Episode 2

Added: +150k (including code + duplicate job scenes with text variations)

TOTAL: 303,452 WORDS

Here is episode 2. The demo is over 300,000 words and since the last update I've learned the trick of separating files so there will likely be errors and maybe some inconsistencies/continuity errors. Please give me a heads up if you do find any error or typo. I will be looking for beta testers in the future. This is my first IF so I'm still learning as I go.

After fixing everything, I remain uncertain about the stats. A large part of me doesn't want visible stats at all since there's so many I can use, limiting myself to a couple is making it difficult to balance them. If anyone has any suggestions from other IFs or from experience, I'm happy to hear them.

This blog has existed for one year and I feel like I have aged 15 lol

Sorry there has been so little progress and work on this whole project. I really enjoy working on it, and I am excited to see it through, it's just also going to take a very long time if life continues like it has been. I have been stuck in the hell that is college/senior year, I also have had a shit ton of family messes (taking care of my grandpa with dementia, pets and family members dying, getting kicked out twice, etc, etc.) But working on Misty Cove has really been a good outlet and just a fun thing to do, learning the different aspects of creating an IF, writing more and getting feedback on it. Overall it's been a really great experience so far, and with any luck, I'll be able to move faster and get more things done.

End of March Update

oh god midterms nearly killed me I am sorry lol writing has been slow going for a couple of reasons, I've honestly just been tired and overwhelmed, so not a lot is going to get done until after I get done in May.

I scrapped a section of chapter 2 to rewrite entirely in first person because it was easier to start from scratch.

Rewriting the prologue and chapter 1 in first person is making writing faster at least!

Adding more variations and weight to decisions characters make on relationships because yeah that was not implemented very well, my bad
