I'm happy that the boys are trying to get more viewship but also very concerned. Why does cover keep trying to go into china????China????? After what they did to Coco and Haachama????
Bruh, first they tested Kobo, now Tavi and Bettel???
I'm just. Concerned.
I'm sure that management has given them tips on what not to say or do. But at the same time.
And I say this in like, the nicest way possible.
Because the silly jester man is my kamioshi, my first kamioshi.
But he's also soooooooooo...........
Just.
Very American.
Midwest white American, if you know you know.
I just don't want him to accidentally put his foot in his mouth about something regarding sino geopolitics, mostly Taiwan and China politics, and get like doxxed or something.
You know. Even something as accidental as what Coco did or said, just showing a map or the world during a Quizlet or Sporcle game or Geoguessr or mentioning her watcher demographics and saying Taiwan as a separate country and all (which it is), and then getting harassed by a ton of people.
Just. Praying Tokimane has given him a good lecture about what not to say on bilibili this Saturday!!!!! Arrrgghhhggggggg
I'm a bit tempted to log into my old bilibili account to watch.
Also a bit curious how the jokes will go, with the language barrier and pop culture differences. I assume it's using some automatic machine translation? I think comedy is pretty hard to nail, especially internationally. Like, Tavi could just go music making streams or covers, music tends to transcend language sometimes.
Finger crossed the silly jester man stays silly and stays around for an encore!!!! QAQ

ngl, i'm a bit happy that paimon is getting recast half due to the voice actor revealing themself to be a horrible cyberbully to their coworkers and their fans (well, former fans), and half due to just. not really liking the english dub trope when full grown adults try to imitate ~*uwu cutesy baby voice*~ .
like, maybe it's just practice due to asian culture wanting afab people to be sweet and pleasant at all times (gag, misogyny...), but original language dubs of east asian content with feminine voices that are the cutesy girly high pitched voice seem to not really grate my ears. like, it's high but its soft at the same time? maybe it's just practice to sound like that?
(my one friend once said that he thought that maybe just asian women naturally have higher pitched voices??? and i was like deadass frfr????? *side eyes myself, chinese american, and my other afab nonbinary/agender asian american friends* uhhhhhhhhhhhh. not to misgender myself and my friends but uh. bud, you wanna visit the feminist subreddit r/nothowgirlswork??? i don't think vocal chords work like that bruh???!)
anyways though, the original voice actor did not sound very good. like, yes, they could act and be emotional at appropriate times, although that can also be chalked up to having a decent english dub director. but like, just their voice. it's so....shrill. i've played the chinese dub and the actress is the more natural sounding *uwu cute* voice, high but soft. not high and loud/shrill.
and like, it's just a trope i'm not really fond of at all. i don't watch english dubs of many anime for this reason. heck, i stopped watching a mandarin language c-drama because the main character girl wouldn't stop acting like a literal 5 year old in a 20-something year old woman's body! i just have little patience for adults who act so childish i guess. and not like, a grown woman with a silly hobby or something to do on the weekends and it makes her a bit QuIrKy and WaCkY. i mean, acting like a literal child 24/7. it was a bad c-drama. maybe another post for context later.
but just, i hope that they cast another actor or actress with a more natural sounding voice.
so the cyberbully part. so. dang the entire strike was a lie. where's the "we were rooting for you!" gif of tyra banks from ANTM?
the entire thing is a mess. i just get that SAG seems to be a very unfair union and, hey, maybe the voice actors should unionize? union-ception!
also laws can't keep up with technology and/or increasingly global/multi-cultural media products, much less a frequently updated live service game that is a very long term commitment/employment by a non-domestic company.
so. i guess SAG might have already had protections against AI/voice harvesting for their members. heck, mihoyo/hoyo/cognosphere/whatever might have also already had protections against AI, at least for their chinese voice actors? not sure about the eng dub actors?
but like, i guess some american/english language voice actors were doing the jobs without SAG union approval or something?
idk anymore. bruh. but like the voice actor continuously spreading misinformation and harassing coworkers and fans is craaaazzyyy.
oh, i guess they're also racist or something too? (bringing up the mistranslated of sworn brothers, kaeluc stuff, misinfo i also embarrassingly fell for for a few years :'( oops sorry y'all. am better now.) and then when english speaking chinese/east asian fans and also asian american/canadians tried to politely educate them since this was still the early days of 1.0 genshin, they dismissed them and said that asian culture was disgusting and full of "incest" and the fans, especially the chinese fans are gross?? or something like that basically. cringe, i wasn't aware of like 3 year old drama cuz i dont use tiktok like a smart person lol. i was twitter brainrot instead sorry lol, hence the knowledge of kaeluc drama. oops. but yeah the recent events and complaints are having people bring up some old drama so lol.
all that above, i don't like the voice actor. i'm happy that they're gone now, or will be in the next update i guess? or event? but like i don't like all the "news"/dramatuber coverage of it. partly cuz most of them probably don't even play genshin and aren't even a 1.0 player like i am. they don't know the history of the game or community. they're grifters. and, they mostly misgender the voice actor, who is nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns. they usually use she/her. in fact, most posts i see online misgender the actor. and like, i usually block if i can the authors of those comments, or just ignore the videos or down vote comments. partly due to the blatant transphobia most of them have, but also just. this is common knowledge? like, if you google the voice actor and go to like the genshin or fandom or youtuber wikia or whatever, it'll probably have the actor's pronouns. and to me, honestly, if you can't even do basic research on public knowledge of the actor's gender/pronouns, like how can i trust your opinion or judgement or "reporting" (since some dramatubers try to disguise themselves as unbiased newstubers) on the complex history of the community and the voice actors, the developing art/artists vs AI culture war, and antiquated american legal systems and workers' rights?
literally, if the youtuber/commenter can't do basic research on they/them pronouns, they probably aren't smart enough to understand the situation and explain it for others or commentate on it.

yarn
i got lots of yarn at joann's before they closed. i'm sad that i'll probably not see that kind of yarn again for a long while. i just don't see michael's replacing much of their cheap home decor aisles to make room for joann's fabrics and yarns variety. michael's is also trying to fill the niche of helium/party balloons that party city left as well. i don't mind that much, trying to fill a niche that is now open, but i wish that they would understand that the fulfill the needs of crafters and party decorators and students who have school projects, they need to get rid of the ugly home decor stuff! the market for that is already pretty fulfilled, in my opinion, by the home goods store, kirklands, marshall, tj maxx, etc., etc. physical buildings only have so much space. and, while i like local yarn stores, the ones i've gone to so far have very fancy yarns, i.e., 100% wool or silk yarns, fingering or worsted stuff, but not much that is the cheap acrylic like bernat or lion's or such. i think those kinds of stores are great for experienced knitter/crocheters who are making fancier stuff that will be family heirlooms and also have money. but for younger beginners who might not have spending money and/or would feel bad "wasting" such fancy yarn on practice stuff (simple blankets, granny squares, etc.), it can be pretty intimidating to buy from them. "budget"/cheaper yarns like red heart, lion's brand, joann's big twist, those lily cotton skeins.
looks like walmart is also getting the cheap yarns as well.

Man vtuber etiquette is dead in the west huh
(R1ma releasing a video on a certain blonde future time travel space cop)
Like, it was basically an open secret anyways. But like we all discussed it in text posts and such. Not it wasn't mainstream or like in an entirely compiled video by a mainstream creator. It feels...disrespectful.

genshin survey lol 1/9/2025
As a 1.0, 2nd day player, Genshin has gone from very satisfying to somewhat satisfying. While some is just because some contents and expectations are normalized now, I have some issues with the current roster of characters. Namely, the lack of male and/or tall male characters. I am hoping that Capitano becomes playable to rectify this lack of male characters the entire year. It seems confusing that Genshin, a general audience game, is ignoring their female players. The only new male released all year was Kinich. While he is cool, he barely has any role/time in the Archon Quest. Instead, the game has begun to release only female characters for male players. Additionally, the online communities have become very hostile and unwelcoming to female players. It no longer feels fun to discuss Genshin with others. I want to know what happens in the future Archon quests, however the way the company and community treats the female fans with neglect and/or cyberbullying, I am becoming discouraged from playing Genshin as frequently as I used to. With no male characters as well, I don't have much motivation to purchase Primogems or Welkin Blessings. I don't understand, does the company not want money from women? Wouldn't the company make more money by appealing to a wider audience of men and women, not just men? I just don't understand this business decision, there is no logic to it to me or many other disappointed female fans. Unless Ifa (and Capitano?) can somehow exceed expectations, and/or there are other male characters upcoming, we just don't have much motivation to continue spending money. Some like me are content to keep using the same male characters we already have, while others just stop playing. Either way, we don't have motivation to spend money on any new characters if the new characters are just female/waifu-type characters. Mihoyo's business decisions to only have waifus is driving away potential paying customers and their wallets. How much revenue must you lose before you realize neglecting half the audience is not good for your profits or reputation? And Mavuika. Archon characters have been incredibly flexible in many teams as both main/on field DPS and off field DPS/Support. Many Pyro characters are also already on-field DPS, minus rare characters like Bennett or Dehya. When I learned that Mavuika was yet another on-field DPS, I was very sad. I already have Arlecchino and Lyney, there is no need to have Mavuika. So I did not pull her. If she were an upgraded Bennett and/or very flexible on/off field like the other Archons, I would have been more motivated to pull her. She is not a proper Archon-type character with a flexible playstyle and she is in too saturated a field to enhance or fit into my teams to replace supports like Bennett. It is sadly too late to change her character playstyle as well. Perhaps the next Pyro character will be an off field DPS/support/healer? Maybe on a rerun I will attempt to pull her, but only for me Archon collection. I already have very strong teams and Pyro DPS like Arlecchino, so I just don't know what to do with her honestly. Please, just no more main/on field Pyro DPS!

to save my complaint/comment about genshin lol
E, I usually agree with your takes, but this one is not really clicking for me. Personally, I love Genshin since it had a general audience appeal with male and female characters. To see it cater to only straight males with waifus is deeply disappointing to me.
In the past few years, I lost or got burn out and quit gacha games that had mixed gender casts of characters : Dragalia Lost (end of service, dead forever), and Obey Me! (burn out), GranBlue Fantasy (also burn out), and Touken Ranbu (burnout). However, the other thing about those games I got burnt out on is partly due to the very boring, RNG, png card collecting game play. Genshin is an incredible open world game with exciting hack n slash/RPG mechanics and a unique elemental system, much more engaging than just watching digital dice rolls or tapping a screen. To lost Genshin is basically me never playing a gacha game again since it's the only open world that appeals to me.
The other thing as well, along with having male characters, was the option to have Aether and Lumine as your player stand-in character, to have a male or female option. While Dragalia's main character was a male prince (Euden), GBF also has a male and female player stand-in option and Obey Me! and TKRB both have ambiguous player avatars that are never really seen. In fact, Obey Me ONLY has they/them pronouns for your character. Logically, I'm sure it is due to the company being smaller and saving money on translation/localization and not having to make separate scripts for he/him and she/her pronouns, I do find it funny and appreciate that they/them pronouns are there. In advertisements with the "player character" as well, we are shown as a cute anime sheep creature with no gender at all! TKRB, while definitely THE OG joseimuke anime man PNG card collector game meant to have a female audience, we are never shown and are only called the Saniwa. I've only played the original Japanese version (the language barrier also adding to the burnout/disconnect from what little story was in the game), so I don't know how they translated it in the more recently released official English version though. But, again, due to the incredibly boring and repetitive gameplay, I have since stopped playing them, leaving only Genshin as the "gender inclusive" game with both male and female characters.
The other thing, I've seen people just write "just play Love and Deepspace" and such. The issue that I and a friend of mine have is that those games, unlike pre-waifu bait Natlan Genshin, and the other few gender neutral/inclusive gacha games that exist, are that they are made explicitly for women. Yes, even Touken Ranbu or ArKnight's mysterious blank slate Saniwa/Doctor are better than something like LaDS, where you might get referred to only with she/her pronouns, or Mihoyo's other "male character" game, Tears of Themis, in which all the character cards have the generic blank girl in them with the the men. I personally am non-binary (I don't mind they/he and so I play Aether/male characters in any game with no real gender neutral option), and my friend is a cis gay man. So, saying "just play LaDS" or *insert other mainstream games with men that are made with cis women in mind* are very awkward for us, from mildly annoying to straight up gender dysphoria inducing to only see female avatars or be referred to as she/her. Mixed gender games like Genshin that have the option for male and female characters (Aether/Lumine) and also a mixed gender cast of important NPCs/playable/collectable characters are basically the best/only option for us! It was literally was attracted us to start playing Genshin! To see Genshin head in a direction that only appeals to the cis straight men who want waifus, while completely ignoring any cis women, gay men, or non-binary people who enjoy masculine characters, it's just confusing as it alienates a large portion of the audience, who are potentially paying customers. It feels like we've completely wasted our time and money to false advertising that Genshin would be the good inclusive game. Seriously, is Mihoyo allergic to money?
It's not about how the women dress, or that the cis straight male audience are gooners. It's Mihoyo ignoring that, hey, women and other people are gooners too, who also want to goon over new characters instead of the same 4 guys from like two years ago.
(my friend has returned to Tokyo Afterschool Summoners and, funnily enough, ZZZ. He says that since ZZZ is handled by a different team than Genshin, they have male characters, most importantly, male furries like Von Lykon lol! I'm still playing Genshin, but it's mostly just doing dailies as fast as possible and leaving to fish in FFXIV, which has a mixed gender cast of important and mostly interesting NPCs. Trying to save in case they make Capitano playable, we are huffing some serious conspiracy theories and copium in the subreddit. But if they fumble him, the most hyped character and most man-liess badass character who appeals to both men and women, I'm going to be so confused. All the money they might be making, wasted! Anyways, to see you completely disregard most criticism of how Mihoyo is ignoring a portion of their customer base and just try to make the issue about female clothing being too skimpy and therefore sexism against fictional women, while ignoring the complaints about sexism/favoritism from *real* women (and people of other genders) is....confusing and disappointing to say the least.)
edit lol - my comment wasnt posted lol, so i tried again with l33t speak, lol
I tried to comment on this a day or so ago, but don't see my comment. I can only assume I have was sh4d0wbanned for mentioning qu33rness, which isn't ad-friendly (barf). So, I've tried to re-type my original comment/thoughts to the best of my ability below and also be shorter, just with the Krazy Kewl L33T SPEAK that we have to use now to express our genuine feelings and experiences. Sorry to any people who use screenreaders in advance! I wish it didn't have to be this it, it's just dumb. :/
E, I usually agree with your takes, but this one is not really clicking for me. Personally, I love Genshin since it had a general audience appeal with male and female characters. To see it cater to only str41ght menwith waifus is deeply disappointing to me.
In the past few years, I lost or got burn out and quit gacha games that had m1xed g3nd3r casts of characters since they, while great, had like minimal gameplay! Just .PNG card collectors and watching a digital dice roll. I'm sorry, but I can only take so much of it! It's just boring and mind numbing. Genshin is not only the first of it's "genre", but THE ONLY GACHA GAME with real open world RPG/hack n slash gameplay, plus the incredibly fun and unique Elements system. Telling people who are complaining about the lack of male characters to "just play LADS" or some other otome visual novel/PNG card collector game is just insulting and ignores the gameplay aspect of it. Also, to my next point, it just assumes that anyone complaining is just a c1s woman who can just move to other games for c1s women.
Genshin, while not completely perfect and inclusive, has the male and female player options/avatar stand-in with Aether and Lumine. My friend and I both play as Aether. Why? I am n0n-b1n4ry and usually pick male character options when tr4ns/n0n-b1n4ry options aren't available. My friend is a c1s g4y man. To tell us to "just play LADS" or something, when the characters all refer to the player character with she / her pr0n0uns, all pictures just have a blank face girl/woman character as the player stand-in, it's not an option for us! Seeing that kind of thing in LADS or Tears of Themis or other games with male characters that are only designed with c1s women in mind, it's annoying and triggers our g3nd3r d1sph0r1a. Yes, my friend also experiences this even though he is c1s and not tr4ns due to h0m0ph0b1c bully1ng he experienced as a child, so being referred to as a female or she / her pr0n0uns is traumatic to him. Otome and Joseimuke games just don't have good gameplay or inclusivity as pre-Natlan/g00ner Genshin once did. Genshin interested us as a general audience game with men and women in mind, to see it de-evolve is so sad. We feel like we've wasted our time and money on this game. Anyways, TL;DR, former Genshin was designed with anyone of any gender in mind. C00m over Lisa or Kaeya, they are both cool and flirty with the player character, whether man or woman. Now though, we can't have men who flirt with players, afterall, the main base is h0m0ph0bic men who get insulted if other men are interested in them, and we all know that girls don't play Genshin/video games, and qu33r people don't exist, so why would male characters be friendly and flirty anymore? Only female characters flirt now or get fanservice scenes, and it's just annoying since it feels like a step back from the seemingly inclusive general audience game it started as. There's nothing wrong with c00ming to fictional characters, it's just that the company seems to think that only men c00m. Women are pure creatures who would never c00m or want to c00m and also g3nd3r d1v3rs3 people don't exist lol. - the vibe from the company, not me. "Just play Love and Deepspace" just doesn't work for me or my friend, who are qu33rs who were initially attracted to Genshin since it was made for a general audience/was as "g3nder 1nclus1ve" as a mainstream AAA gacha game could get, when compared to other mainstream gacha games. To see you miss the point, the comments that c1s women qu33r people are saying about the growing feeling of s3x1sm, favoritism, general hostility that the company and the fandom is giving us right now, to see you defend a multi-billion $$ company and fictional women instead of real life women and qu33rs, it's deeply disappointing. I think this is the only video of yours that I really disagree on.

Joined XHS since tiktok was banned for like. A few hours lol. I want to try and stay there tho and also weibo as a way to try and practice writing Chinese though lol.
But also I'm seeing these videos and stuff about Americans being shocked about China and regular people and I'm just like. Wut. There's always been regular people in China. Like, ok, maybe bc im Chinese American and am generally skeptical of the us govt anti China propaganda and like anime so I had a little pipeline of learning Chinese in high school and college andwatching k and c drama sometimes, so I've seen these "regular" Chinese people and their TV shows and stuff. But like. Bro. I'm getting the feeling that like most non Asian Americans literally though China was like Detroit or something. Like all of China being peasant farmers or factory workers and run down and shit. Bro. Like every country, China has its Detroit and its NYC and a middle class and stuff in between. Why is this shocking???? What was non Asian Americans stereotypes of China????? HUH????????

....so mamook is sad Detroit with eugenics dang
Just finished the feat of Repast aka the cooking competition with xibruq pibil. So far:
Yeah I see how everyone says that Wuk Lamat is Naruto lol
Koana. I wanna know more about him. Well intentioned but cringe ass tech bro lol. Also green cat boy. Love cat boys.
Hearing all the electors in the feats and such glaze Galool Ja Ja. Bruh. He's very tall and cool I get it. Also as a monsterfucker, yes. I want to smooch him. Lol. But you know what else I think would be funny?
If Galool Ja Ja and Mavuika smooch lol.
Total crack fic, but it would be funny.
Going to The feat of brotherhood in Mamook tomorrow. Am sleepy it is like 2 am. But from the in game comments about it being the former greatest, I'm gonna guess that the city didn't get the best deal out of the peace treaty and founding of Tulliyolal. So basically Mamook = Detroit, right?

Hm. New year
Learned via text froma mutual irl that my former roommate was at her house/apartment for new years gathering small party.....
Hm.
Despite living together as college roommates for 4 years, we've only hung out in person once since graduation. As I see my former high school and college friends and former classmates snapchats and Instagram stories and such, seeing then together, with me as the only missing link. I'm beginning to wonder if they ever really thought of me as a friend in the first place. I'm never invited to basically anything, I can only watch them from my phone. Like that picture of the lonely dog staring at the other dogs, excluded from living life.
*disclaimer for my one friend if she reads this lol bc I know she follows this side/semi vent acc, you are excused since you have been sadly banished to Florida for many years, so it's understandable that we can't just hang out in person lol XD

silly oc stuff
abt cyril
so. cheesy, but.
so cyril's hair started off like red, right?
after the seat of sacrifice and the player character almost becomes a light warden (lightwarden!wol fanfics ftw btw! angst! yeah!) cutscene, i turned cyril's hair like white. pure white, most left color row, just plain white. blinding white. to show the ~transformation~ *oooooooOOOOOhhHHH sad and scary*
lol. so his hair was just white the rest of shadowbringers. i kinda wish i figured out mods at the time as well to change his scales from the male auri beige to white. but my laptop at the time sucked and didnt have enough memory or RAM to run such things lol
ShB patches - i changed it to veeeerrrry light pink. slightly off white, tinted pink. the main hair was light pink, the highlights/tips were still pure white
EW - suuper light pink. not as light as it was, but suuper light pink.
EW patches and now to DT - still light pink but slightly darker. like, his hair is, i am pretty sure, twinning nanamo's light pink hair. the highlights are the suuper light pink though.
maybe by the DT patches, i will change to a darker pink or a light red. not back to his original ARR-ShB red of course. i would think that Light infestations would scar for a long time. but its a silly little thing i do for my virtual son/oc/WoL. i wonder if others do this?
lol
edit: so i also decided to glam the tank/rdm/rpr/nin gear to a vacation looking outfit lol. like, he goes here, early msq, just expecting a nice vacation and maybe some mentoring stuff, light bodyguard work to prevent any foul play against wuk lamat during her campaign tour basically lol. then as the msq gets more serious, what with all the spoilers i've seen about the 9th shard/solution 9, totally out of context btw, dont worry, i'll dispel the glam to go back to armor/combat gear.
so, i just know that sphene is an AI/robot queen mayor lady of the big technologically advanced city solution 9. a refugee city really of survivors of the 9th shard. i dont know much more than that but that sphene is the villian for some reason? also on the preach video, he mentioned with sphene gone, the "Train" cant run? so, i thought it was a static mostly normal city, is it more of a moving living city ala snowpiercer, the mortal engines book by philip reeve, or the scott westfield books of moving cities, leviathan/behemoth/goliath, which are a mix of steampunk/nothing but nuts and bolts and also enslaved living giant eldrich beings with people on its back? idk! even if i do know some dawntrail spoilers as you can see/read, they are so fragmented and out of context, it's not really "ruined" the game/story for me honestly. i guess ill just see it when i see when i get there lol!

dawntrail predictions?
so below the cut for spoilers and such that i discuss that i have seen without context and such and how i predict dawntrail will go based on those lol
i'm on the rite of succession msq btw, still very very beginning once you have the parade of sorts that introduces wuk lamat's brothers and also bakool ja ja
so....if i had two nickels for every time a south american based region and story got criticized as the worst content and story in the game, i'd have two nickels. which isn't much, but it's weird that it's happened twice.
lmao. ffxiv and genshin. tural and natlan. oooooh boy. the timing is possibly the funniest coincidence possible. i should make a meme edit later of the epic handshake lol.
so, i've seen some posts and such, completely out of context, regarding dawntrail and it's story being weird. and i've seen preach gaming's short video review of 7.1. so. it seems that it kinda gets a bit better in 7.1. and so, now dawntrail is stormblood 2.0.
lyse was naive and annoying in stormblood 4.0, according to public opinion, but the stormblood patches gave her characterization that made her a more mature and reliable leader.
now, since i'm suuuper slow in everything, i joined ffxiv in shadowbringers and i started dawntrail literally yesterday, i've had the reward of getting random spoilers and social media posts to help me uhh. lower my expectation i suppose.
i didn't mind lyse being annoying and naive because i *knew* ahead of time that that was kinda the point of her character and also that she will get better, i just gotta be patient.
lyse had this sheltered life, or as sheltered as a refugee could get, safe away in sharlayan, away from the oppressive garlean colonial rule of ala mhigo/gyr abania. she was likely raised with this nostalgic patriotism from the real ida and mostly interacted with other rebels in the resistance, not the average citizen who has had their spirit broken. this really showed in the early cutscenes, especially in ala gannha and when meeting the Skulls/Fordola. she can't fathom what the average citizen has been through and can't understand why the ala mhigan youths might join the garlean army for a better life. she is disappointed and admonishes the average citizen for not fighting, not really showing empathy for how their repeated years of trauma might not make them the most excited to join the rebels.
through out the msq, but mostly the patches, lyse really grows into an empathic leader who tries to understand things from other's point of view.
now for wuk lamat. so, i've heard some things about her voice acting. totally out of context, i've heard of the infamous "SPHEEEENNNNNNEEEE" while some song called smile plays in the background??? so, i know that people have clipped this scene/video, however, i've only read about it in comments. i've never watched any clips/videos of this scene. i want to experience the hammy camp voice and the song, which i've been told is good but the timing was just bad, completely fresh. like i've avoided listening to flow or close in the distance on spotify and youtube for an entire two years of endwalker, i will avoid watching this or listening to smile. i think it's only fair that i keep this one thing to myself lollllll!!!!
anyways, sena bryer has been in other things and, so far in the early msq, wuk lamat sounds pretty decent. i think she can act, if given good directions by the ADR/voice acting director. sadly, it seems that most voice acting in DT was just...weird? i've read that y'shtola's is not good, however some lines were re-recorded and fixed in 7.1. this is because her voice actress was recording from home and not a studio, as she was on maternity leave. cat woman mommy became a mommy frfr! lol
anyways, i'm not like an expert in voice acting or anything, and i also really don't like how many transphobic ffxiv fans took wuk lamat's voice line quality as ammo to use against the voice actress, a trans woman, instead of going after the voice acting director, the real culprit. i'll have to look at the staff credits of ShB and EW closer to see if the director changed between those two and DT. and that's all i'll say about wuk lamat's voice acting criticisms.
so, her character. now, i thought that she was young, since i keep seeing naruto comparisons. i've seen a reddit comment that she is 30????? HUH?? well, i guess we can't confirm until the 4th addition to the encyclopedia eorzea or something lol. either way, i've read that she, despite saying that she loves her country, doesn't seem to know it very well. she is ignorant of the different cultures and such, which is why you have to go around and meet everyone.
hmmm. i guess i'll just see this when i see it in msq. so i am guessing that were they going with a naive and sheltered princess who needs to learn more about her country before she can rule it, but it came off as so ridiculously ignorant, that she became unbelievable, is that it? i can definitely see if that was their goal but the writing and stuff was just annoying after a while?
during the cutscene that just happened to me, the parade of the candidates, erenville makes a comment that bakool ja ja doesn't seem to really have any policies or goals except to win the contest. maybe they could've gone with something similar to wuk lamat? like, she was also so laser focused on stopping bakool ja ja to preserve her father's peaceful legacy but also has literally no policies or anything for when/if she wins the throne, but throughout the journey/msq, after meeting people outside the capital city, she learns to really appreciate and love her nation. like, if they just started with her love for her father at the beginning msq but ignorance of life outside the city, and then she really learned to love all turali cultures, i think it would be interesting.
right now, at the beginning, when she is saying that she loves tural and all, it seems like superficial. it's like when metro man in megamind says "and i love you random citizen!" but he doesn't really know who that random citizen's name or hopes and dreams are, you know?
she mentions going to another ethnic group's town for a festival that her father took her to, but it seems by her wording, that she's never returned there to see the everyday life outside of holidays. she's never like really gotten to know the people there.
would an approach like that have fixed wuk lamat? hmmmm.
anyways, that's my current impression of her. so far, lyse 2! i know she'll get better, and i am patient, but as an outsider to dawntrail right now, it seems that the hate around her is sooooooo crazy overblown. like it's all i see. its hilariously confusing.
idk, maybe, since i've actually read all 700 chapters of naruto and also all of homestuck, my tolerance for weird anime bullshit and patience is longer than the average ffxiv player? lolll.
well, i'll try to get through dawntrail quickly and return to this post for edits and/or a repost with part 2 of my impressions of how wuk lamat really was during 7.0.
anyways maybe natlan and tural will just be mid and all the hate is overblown, idk. i just want capitano to be playable. da wei, i'm coming for you and your incel gooner waifu bait decisions! i loved genshin, but this pivot is literally driving away many of the playerbase that is the average person and/or female, the only audience being incels who want anime waifus is just unsustainable for profits in the long run. BRUUUUH ugh

asking for more male charas lol
More male characters please! Genshin came to me at a very important time. I just lost my other gacha games, A3! English and Dragalia Lost, and I felt burnt out from the repetitive gameplay of other gacha games that are mostly card-based rpg or stat based. Genshin, being the first of its kind of a gacha open world rpg with the elemental system combo, was incredibly fresh! The world, music, and characters were much higher production too. And, as a male character enjoyer, I was also happy that the cast was diverse with men and women. However, the recent lack of male characters makes me very sad. I cannot return to gender balanced games like Dragalia Lost, as it is literally dead. And other gacha that have male characters, like TKRB or LaDS, have very boring gameplay. If Genshin stops having men, I will have no other game. I might still play for the plot, but for buying Welkins for pulling characters, I just have no motivation to buy without male characters. Please, more men in Snezhneya!
I gotta threaten hoyo's wallet lol
