Hiii, i have a silly question (again lol) about lawrence, like what do you think would have happened if he actually had someone very close to him as a teen? Like i mean maybe in an au when he is in highschool and meets mc there who defends him from bullying and becomes very close with him and keep being close to him also as adults (maybe idk, like considering that to yk, make him change a bit his mentality mc meets him at like junior year of highschool) so like maybe even becoming one of those couples that are togheter since highschool, do you think there would ever be a chance that if he had someone who deeply cares about him before he would have been better? IM SO SORRY IF I WORDED IT BAD BUT MY BRAIN ITS A BIT FUSED 😭😭

It would likely make things in the future different.
He’s still Lawrence, and he still views the world very differently than others, but having a person to connect with will likely steer him in a slightly better direction.
If someone defended him from bullying, or just generally stuck up for him, Lawrence would grow very attached. Having someone who thinks highly of him in a world where so many (including his own parents) put him down, I think it could help Law feel more positive about the world.
He’s already seen the River by the time he’s in high school, but having a friend might help him enjoy this world instead of solely focusing on the River. It makes life bearable.
So in the long run, I think yes, he’d be a little “better”. He probably wouldn’t see every person as a problem anymore, because he has proof that not everyone is out to get him. You showed him that. Due to this, he probably wouldn’t go on to murder people. He’ll still be his odd, introverted self— he’ll still like plants, and decomposition, but he’ll stick to animal corpses that he uses for his art, nothing more. But he won’t be a criminal. Just Lawrence.
Having that special person can really benefit him, he needs that.

It recently came up in conversation with my toddler that some birds can talk, and this has caused her great concern.
See, we were talking about how movies are pretend and how in real life, animals don’t talk. I mentioned that there are some birds who talk a little bit, but not like the animals in movies, and she just looked at me like “???”
So I informed her that some kinds of parrots can copy sounds that people make, and can learn how to say words. I thought this would give her a giggle, as fun new facts often do, but she was just deeply perplexed and a little worried about this.
“Birds can talk?” “Do they ask questions?” “What do they say?” Why do they talk?” “Do chickens talk?” “What about Blue Jays?” “Why do some birds talk? “How do they talk?” “Birds TALK???”
We showed her a video of a parrot doing the “Hello, pretty bird, give a kiss” thing, and she was dead silent the whole time, hugging her comfort pillow with her knees to her chest. We asked if she wanted us to turn it off, and she shook her head. But we also asked if she wanted to see another one, and she shook her head even harder.
I don’t know why it has distressed her so greatly to learn that some birds can mimic human speech; but then again, I don’t know why it doesn’t distress the rest of us more to know that some birds can mimic human speech.
I keep thinking about that post that’s like “The first person to hear a parrot talk was probably Not Okay.” Because that’s exactly what happened. She had never been introduced to the concept, and her entire worldview got SHOOK.

writing first draft is freeing but also very confusing. I also realise a few things
polyam is great because I get to write 3 people arguing with each other instead of 2
this is therapy
add a tag to clarify it's not exactly shipping bc I have no hope in them to sort it out
but aren't there lovers arguing all the time despite being in love
many people, including me, are ok with the angst of ships and still consider it shipping content
this really is therapy for the author. 1.5 times the therapy, in fact
the polyam may or may not be a full circle but the fact that they're trying is very fastinating to me
always choose to write in the pov of who is most clueless in that situation. it's fun

I feel like these 2 quotes are literally the core of Kim's character. Like yeah he spills the whole thing here.
He's afraid of becoming a joke and he really likes not taking the first step when doing something fun. I'm actually speechless about how open he is about it, in these 2 moments.

Lowkey you can tell when a pride flag was made before or after their primary use shifted to Online. The way colors display digitally vs as a physical object etc. Also if you need ten different extremely specific shades of the same color that's wildly impractical. Remember when people were discoursing about that gayboy flag having a meaningful difference depending on if it was slightly more blue or greenish

Like tbqh most of the discourse on this hellsite sounds like this to me:
1) This character stole some bread, they are the literal worst and if you like them you are personally endorsing stealing and are the literal worst.
2) This character stole some bread from my favourite character and DOES NOT DESERVE TO BE REDEEMED
3) This person drew art of this character stealing a loaf of bread and is romanticizing the act of stealing and is making fandom toxic.
4) This person wrote Problematic TM fic in which this character steals MORE LOAVES OF BREAD AND ISNT PUNISHED FOR IT how dare they.
5) I’m trying to make fandom a non toxic space for all of us so here’s a list of all the bloggers and artists who have created art which did not directly punish this character for stealing bread and on occasion have drawn them going on to steal more bread. Please don’t harass them =uwu=
6) How dare you even think of writing a redemption story for this character who once stole bread.

After reading @may--hawk’s fic here comes a regular this one part felt like a sister scene almost to the other comic I drew for a different mayhawk fic so I had to draw it
The entire fic is so good tysm <333
Also I “took a break” during the process of making this and made another smaller comic of a different scene from towards the end of the same fic

I am needlessly riled by all the posts and humans' inherent goodness.
Humans are *neutral*, man. That's why improving society really needs to look like making doing the right thing the path of least resistance.
A majority of people sit right around the tall bit of some sort of bell curve with "does selfish shit that could hurt others by default, is generous under the right circumstance" is one side of the peak and "is generous by default, will do selfish shit that could hurt others under the right circumstances" on the other.
You can observe it any day by observing people under stress (eg: bad traffic, busy supermarket, an unexpectedly un/pleasant interaction with a stranger who is very different to you) - and in yourself in circumstances you find particularly stressful.
