Located in the Western Coast of traditional Earth Kingdom lands and the main result of the Harmony Restoration Movement, Republic City is a place for all benders and non-benders to live in harmony regardless of Nation, Kingdom, or Tribe.

Surrounded by majestic mountains in the northwest coast of the Earth Kingdom, Republic City is the largest and most modern city in the United Republic of Nations. Following the Hundred Years War, there was much debate about what to do with the Fire Nation colonies in the Earth Kingdom. Rather than send the Fire Nation citizens home, Aang and Zuko established the United Republic Nations, an area of the world where people from all nations could live and prosper. Republic City became its capital, but to Korra, the city symbolizes freedom and a chance to start a new life.
