hearing that, jiyoo nodded her head. diet’s could be a pain and gold star had put her one her fair share. ( not that they really stuck but it worked it’s self out in the end. ) it gave her a little something to think about and she used her free hand to go for her phone. “it is cute, i added some small things but i was really amazed at the effort. they did a good job at making it feel homey.” when they got to the front door, jiyoo let sophie out first, with a mumbled, ‘cuties first’ and a teasing smile. 

once they were outside, she re-linked arms with sophie. “how about a vegan place? there’s a place i know. i’ve only went once but it was pretty good, i went with my friend. i think we could find a balance there.” it shouldn’t talk a long time to get there either and since they had a car, there wasn’t a need to wait for a cab. “or we could walk and see if we can place that has some good choices.” that would give them a bit more content, possibly.

“i agree.” after having to furnish and decorate her apartment, sophie had found a new admiration for people who did it as a living. it definitely wasn’t easy to make sure things looked good and balanced, especially in a place small like their room. “it seems like they put in a lot of thought.” as they walked out, sophie took the opportunity of taking a picture of jiyoo with the camera, smiling as she did so, a teasing glint to her eye. “we need some candid pictures, here.” she handed it over to jiyoo as the picture developed.

“that works for me, i’d love to know this place you’ve mentioned.” sophie wasn’t too fond of vegan food but it turns out that it was the best option considering the diet she was expected to maintain. it was good, after all, as most food was, and if the other thought it was a delicious enough place to eat at, then she’d be happy to go. “would you like to drive, unnie? or would you like me to?”

what: museum intro videos filming. where: base culture complex. who: open ! 

running through the talking points she was given was much easier than expected. sitting cross legged, on a bench as she waited for her turn, she practiced carefully, quietly under breath. her job here was really just to ensure the group looked good, didn’t slip up in her delivery. being the sweet one, all she really had to do was smile and be likable, so it took virtually nothing to practice her delivery, make sure her tone of voice was even and thoughtful, nothing too extreme. the talking points given were fairly limited for her, talking about the group’s performance as a whole, their first wins — easy enough. she looked over at one of the others waiting to film and offered an easy grin. “your sheet as boring as mine?” 

considering the sheer number of accomplishments wish had had in their five years in the industry, sophie knew that there was plenty for the production to choose from, even with nine girls having to do videos. she would have been happy with any of their choices, really, but the woman was glad that they gave her wish’s first daesang to talk about. it was a fond memory, one she treasured tremendously and it would be easy for her to speak on it without having to put in a lot of effort into being charming. she had only read it through once when her phone pinged with an e-mail notification and she had no choice but to check it. as soon as she was done, she turned to focus on the girl who had just spoken to her. “ah, it’s about wish’s first daesang,” she smiled sweetly. “what about you, sunbae?”

“what places do you like to eat at?” seeing as they had to go out to eat as the list dictated. jiyoo had been enjoying herself so far. and the fact that they had to eat so much, that was a big plus for her. a huge plus really. if there was one thing she really, really loved to do. it as eating and she refused too not be proud of it. “i’m not a picky person, i can something to i like to eat anywhere.” and maybe she shouldn’t have sounded so proud about it, but she was.

and she was almost prepared to go, shoes on and doing one last check of her bag to make sure she had everything. “and it’s on me!” she couldn’t make her younger sibling pay. ( not so soon at least and the thought had her giggling again. ) “we should take the camera too, we can capture the memories while were taking the trip.” she would get that list done, if it was the last thing she did. the jiyoo had to bring herself back down. “sorry! is that all alright with you or should go a different route?”

years of being babied by her wish unnies meant sophie felt extremely comfortable around older women. she knew it was inevitable for the majority of them to treat her like a little sister, and she occasionally played up her cuteness with the sole purpose of making them even fonder of her. it felt comfortable, even, to be on the receiving end of an older woman’s care. that was part of the reason sophie had been overjoyed upon receiving the confirmation that she’d be joining the cast, and even more so that she got jiyoo as her secret sibling, for she hadn’t know the woman well and was looking forward to getting to know her better. “whatever you want, unnie!” she was by the mirror, applying lip gloss to ready herself to go out. “i’m honestly fine with whatever. but hm, i am on a diet right now, and i don’t know if the managers will let me break it even for the show, so maybe something more on the healthy side?”

“that sounds great!” sophie reached out to grab the camera and put it inside her own bag. she would definitely want copies of the pictures for herself. as much as this day was very much part of work in a way, considering the cameras that would be following them, sophie wanted to enjoy it beyond the obligations that came with it. she hoped jiyoo would agree with her on that. she took the liberty of hooking her arm around jiyoo’s elbows as they walked out of the room. “did you like our room? i thought it looked very cute, aren’t you glad they put in a lot of work to make it comfortable?”

doing that thing that was around twitter once upon a time where you type in “[name] core aesthetic”, the results for sophie were very, very accurate. the very ~innocent vibes of it definitely reflect sophie’s core pretty well and it’d be a dream for her to live in a place with that many flowers and nature around.

part two of the favorite colors aesthetics and i think this one is obvious? maybe too obvious, even. for someone who’d definitely fit the high femme category, pink just fits so well for her. sophie was definitely raised into liking it, as her bedroom back home is pretty much all pink, but it doesn’t mean that her love for it is any less sincere because of that. she owns a lot of pink clothes, her entire apartment has pink everywhere. she loves it.

this is part one of sophie’s favorite colors. i don’t know if this is a surprising fact, considering how sophie is, but she’s actually very much a nature type of girl? not that she’s ever lived in a place that had a lot of green around, as her house in miami was closer to the beach than anything and in seoul she’s always lived in apartment but she enjoys nature a lot. her love for green definitely comes from that and she particularly enjoys wearing that color during spring and summer.

𝐛-𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐬. as it’s already been mentioned, i kept the greatest hits playlist as a way to rank sophie’s favorite wish title tracks. this playlist is made of eight songs that sophie considers as the best b-sides in wish’s discography. honestly, sophie doesn’t listen to their music much. as much as she enjoys their title tracks, and performing them, she’s not the biggest fan of the type of song that wish puts out. not that she thinks it’s bad, not at all. sophie believes their sound is very solid and very valid and she will cry if you suggest otherwise around her. these b-sides though are some of her favorites and she will catch herself listening to them every now and then.

What are the traits you think you should show as a good younger sibling?

“ To listen to my older sibling well, of course! ” Sophie doesn’t feel the need to mention that whereas she does do that with one of her older brothers, she had never really shown the other the same respect. “ I think it’s important to keep in mind they are older and more experienced and that they also have our best interest at heart. ”

What kind of personality would you like your older/younger sibling to have and why?

“ Ah, any personality would be great, ”  Sophie chuckled, shaking her head. “ Regardless of who they are, I’m sure they are going to be great. If I had to pick, then maybe someone who was also joyful and excitable? But a quieter person might be good as well! ”

What might surprise your sibling about you if they only know you as a celebrity?

“ Maybe that I’m a bit quieter than it seems? I’m definitely not as loud on my daily life! ”

What do you think about your partner now that their identity has been revealed? From what you know of them, what do you think they are like?

“ I don’t think I’ve ever been able to meet Jynx’s sunbaenim in person, at least not outside of schedules. She’s so talented and so, so pretty. I loved her OST from Strong Woman Do Bongsoon! She comes across as a very elegant and chic woman. I can’t wait to get to know her better. ”

a best friend: sophie has quite a few friends and she absolutely loves each and every single one of them. BUT i’ve been wanting someone that could fit the description/idea of a best friend for her for the longest time. just, that one person who actually understands her and who she’ll let down all the pretending and the wanting to please thing around of. someone who’s also trying to remind sophie that she doesn’t need to be selfless and carry other people’s burdens all of the time. ideally it’d be someone around her age, so 97-99 liner, but i’m down for anyone up to a 95 liner!

a good/bad influence: it’s genuinely good and bad. sophie is so constantly worried about her image, and what she does and doesn’t do. she wants people to love her and she knows people won’t love her if she’s a mess. but consequently this means that she’ll keep from doing things that could be fun for her. this is kind of a double plot too because it’s also meant for someone older than her, a 96 liner and older. someone who takes her under their wing not only to show her some good and fun sides of life but also to show her that it’s okay for her to let loose. because i don’t want to be selfish! i would also like it if it was a good thing for your muse as well. either sophie is here to remind them that they don’t have to act like the responsible, older one all the type. maybe they need someone in their lives who is also willing to take care of them, like sophie is. a shoulder to cry on.

the first kiss: while her ex boyfriend has all of her sexual firsts, her first kiss definitely belongs to someone else. it happened after she turned 19, though, so something around 2018. it left her feeling super confused because she thought that she was only supposed to share these moments with people she has feelings for and she kept wondering whether she has feelings for this person or not. we could move it in a way that it didn’t matter for your muse the way it mattered to her but it can also be something that was meaningful to your muse. maybe they both had feelings and didn’t know how to act about that and now they are put in a position where they have to interact with each other often, for whatever reason. since back then sophie didn’t know she liked girls, this is for male and male presenting nb muses.

fallen friendship: like i said, sophie had a lot of casual friends, but this friendship was a bit different. she almost felt for them like she feels about her best friend. something happened (maybe one of them, either sophie or your muse, spilled the other’s secrets to the wrong person and it went around. maybe your muse kissed someone sophie had a crush on or vice versa, honestly it can be anything) and the friendship turned sour. now for some reason, sophie misses them, and/or vice versa. it’s very hard to swallow the pride and reach out though.

𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐚𝐬𝐤 𝟎𝟏𝟎; 𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐝𝐨𝐥

this headcanon features four top moments in sophie’s career. two are related to wish and two are related to her own individual career. they are pretty basic, as she hasn’t really done anything massive by herself.

with wish:

their first daesang: it was a tie between this and their debut, which holds a very special place in her heart. honestly, i don’t think sophie truly understood the importance of a daesang until she got it. of course her references had always been very american, being born and raised there, so the standard for her had been a grammy. even after learning about how important a daesang was, it only really hit her when wish won their first one for cheer up. she was extremely surprised and the surprise quickly developed into her being in tears in the middle of the stage as they received the award. it was definitely a weird moment because as emotional as sophie is, she refuses to cry in public. yet there she was, shedding several tears because of one award. until today she gets really happy whenever wish wins anything but the novelty has definitely worn off.

first north american tour: wish is yet to do any concerts in miami, where sophie was born, but since sophie had never expected for wish to be big to the point of actually getting the opportunity of doing concerts in the us, she was ecstatic about this tour. there was just something about being recognized in the country she was born in, being not only a celebrity but also an artist there. sophie very much doesn’t care whether wish does better internationally or not, as she knows that they have the domestic and japanese market very interested in them, but it was one of those memorable moments she thinks about often.

by herself:

her first brand ambassador contract: sophie joined wish knowing that she was not the best at anything. as good of a dancer she is, there are better dancers. as pretty as she is, there are other visuals. she’s not the best singer and she’s not a good rapper, neither is she particularly great at acting, so there wasn’t much left for her to do. but she’s always had good spirits and she is indeed pretty, so bc found a way to work around that. sophie was so, so happy when she was offered the brand ambassador deal with reebok. she knew it was partially because of the cf she did for animal crossing and partially because she’s a member of wish, yet she could only think about how happy she was to be given an opportunity.

going viral: wish are no strangers to being all over the internet. for a variety of reasons, wish members have managed to catch people’s attention on social media. yet this time it was sophie alone, going viral because of what she had also done alone. she definitely hadn’t expected people to enjoy her cf to the point of having it go viral but she was like an overexcited puppy whenever she got a text from someone telling her about having watched it and people talking about it all over social media.

since this task gave me the idea of making a playlist of sophie’s favorite wish b-sides, i decided to make this one about her five favorite title tracks, ranked from number five to number one.

v. like ooh-ahh: it ranking within the top five of wish’s discography is definitely because of sentimental reasons. not that sophie thinks it’s not a good song because she actually really likes it but there are other songs that could’ve made it here that didn’t because like ooh-ahh has the advantage of being wish’s debut song.

iv. likey: not only was this song one sophie immediately fell in love upon listening, it was also the most fun she ever had filming a music video.

iii. fancy: sophie was… super surprised when they had the first meeting and listening to this song. as much as wish had already been in the process of having a bit of a concept switch, she never expected them to release something like this. definitely wasn’t complaining, though! she never thought she’d wear a little black dress in a wish music video but it’s not only one of her favorite songs but it has a choreography she loves.

ii. cheer up: another for sentimental values but mostly because it shifted everything for wish. they did well with their debut but it was cheer up that literally skyrocketed their fame. it’s still their best selling single, the one that had them win a daesang for the first time.

i. feel special: another song sophie fell in love the moment she first listened to it. she was captivated by the sound and, eventually, by the concept of the music video. it’s just so elegant? she loves every single outfit she had to wear while filming and promoting it. not only that, it has one of her favorite lyrics. sophie knows it can be read as romantic but she likes to believe the song is more about friendships as well as wish itself.

     eric shook his head at her squeals. she thought she was so cute, so precious, and really still tried to play that card against him.      aish… sophie, seriously, why are you so dumb? do you seriously think yelling at me like this is gonna get anything done? god, you, never learn.      eric finally threw her headphones off. his hands shot into the air, “what?! you just said- if she did-” he was half laughing and half yelling, “so you know what whatever dumb thing you’re gonna say after that is- is- is not right! it’s not realistic!”      eric sat back in his chair. he died in that stupid game about a million times already and was not exactly in the mood to respawn. after all, apparently, there were chores to do, but he would not do them without a fight first.      “act like your older brother? isn’t that just ignoring you and playing games all day? when we were home that’s what i did then and you thought i was still a big brother.” he put his hands on his hips, still sitting in the chair, and crossed his ankles. “i’m not corey- i’m not gonna just drop everything for you all the time, ya’ know.”      finally he stood up. it was time to get to work, but, deep inside him, he needed to make it seem like he still did not want to help her. he wanted to, but, saying it out loud would be unacceptable.      “how about we go to a cafe and do the work later? it’ll still be here to do when we get back.”

“ stop being mean to me, ” sophie whined. she had never understood why everything was so difficult with eric when it was never this hard with corey. sophie and eric had even spent more time together growing up than she ever did with their older brother, considering he had gone away to college. yet her relationship with eric never managed to improve beyond their mutual constant bickering. “ i’m obviously not asking you to be corey, you’re never going to be corey, ” she rolled her eyes, hands on her waist. the thought of it was ridiculous because they were completely different people. “ and i don’t need you to be corey i just need you to be a little bit helpful to your little sister and help her carry some boxes of books to her bedroom. ”

knowing the strategy of asking and asking and whining was probably hardly going to get her anything from eric, sophie moved to sit by his side and pouted at him. “ please. just one box. and then we go to the cat cafe nearby. i’ll cover the bill and everything, ” she didn’t dare mention it was because her group had paid their debt way before his thus money was less of an issue to her than to him. “ please, please, please. ”

𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝟎𝟏𝟖 ; 𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐞

sophie, much like every member of which, is not unaware of all the criticism thrown at the group. for as many fans as they have, people who admire their work and enjoy their music and performances, there are the ones who will nitpick for the sake of it, who will discredit whatever they may do just because they know they can and others will back them up. sophie’s long learned not to dwell on those comments as much. she’s been in the industry for enough years that she knows it’s an inevitability – that people will criticize the groups no matter what they do, so there’s no point in relying completely on what the general public might thing.

still, she’s only human. there are enough times one can see comments criticizing their group’s performance – from the dancing to the singing – and not be upset about it. sure, they might not be the best at everything but no group ever was. all of them had their strengths and sophie could argue that at the very least wish has been improving with the years. their earlier sound has never actually bothered her, not in the way it bothered others, yet she knows their recent comebacks have showcased a definite maturing of their sound and image, in a way that she believes the public is satisfied with.

being overly aware of the criticism means sophie is always determined to put everything she has into anything she does. singing has never been a strong suit of hers but her dancing has always been something she can lean on. she’d argue she wasn’t given a position as lead dancer if she couldn’t live up to it. bc is many things but they are not dumb.

the focus only seems to increase whenever wish has a concert. they rehearse twice as much as they do during any other time and apply themselves four times as much. the desire to put on a great performance completely beats their physical tiredness and sophie’s done her fair share of pushing herself past her limits, past the point of exhaustion.

except this time…

this time sophie is genuinely tired.

she shouldn’t be, not when wish’s not even in the middle of comeback preparations and the only group schedules involve the concerts that they have to do. but there’s everything else she’s doing. the variety, the cf shootings, the meetings. for once in her life sophie is much less concerned about what the group does and much more worried about what the company expects from her and her alone.

it’s a terrifying thought and one that causes her to be mentally drained.

she had passed the final soundcheck without a hitch, getting to her marks as if it was second nature, even if all of them ended up half-assing the choreography so not to drain themselves before the concert even started.

it’s why she doesn’t know how it happens. one moment she’s performing fake & true, the choreography almost like muscle memory, and the next she somehow manages to not only miss her mark but also trip and fall on her ass. one of the girls turn to give her a quick look but sophie’s fast to get back on her feet, the shock at having fallen enough to bring her focus fully back.

sophie laughs it off because she has to, waving off everybody’s concern when they ask if she’s okay. she’s long learned how to keep going.

(and if she has a small cry about it when she gets back to her hotel room, well. no one has to know.)

he quirks an eyebrow in subtle alarm, catching the rise and fall of her voice a beat too late. digs for an answer that sounds less like a lie. “got busy.” sounds too generic, like something he said to all the other revolving door hopefuls who came knocking in the night, eager to warm his bed, his heart. “i didn’t wanna intrude,” there - a sliver of the truth. she seemed happy. in the snatches of in-between moments since the last time they’ve spoken, been this close, he remembers that. is she happy now? carefully, gunwoo breaches the distance between them, leaning in close - just enough that she can hear him above the chatter and music surrounding them. “why?” his voice is wine-dark, a touch lower than usual. full-brimmed with curiosity and a hint of amusement. “are you going to make it up to me?”

shaking her head, sophie reached out to pat his knee. “ i know it was my fault, you don’t have to say it wasn’t. ” there was never a moment during her life in which sophie had thought of herself as someone who could get lost on someone else.

adaptable had been a word thrown around to describe her often. she enjoyed this, the possibility of being whoever the other person expected her to be. depending on who she was around of, sophie allowed herself to smile more, or less. to talk, or to remain quiet. to offer a hand, or to keep a distance. some wanted the cuter sides of her, the ones that she had carried from childhood and would use in her favor when it came to the career she was building for herself. some wanted the sophie they sometimes saw on the stage – the one that was confident in her skin, that knew how to move her body in an enticing way because dance had given her the technique and skills for that. those were rare and far between but she was still willing. she was willing to do most things to get people to love her. and even then, through all of that, sophie had somehow managed to keep a good grasp around herself. she liked to believe that she belonged to no one but herself, that no one owned. yet. she had allowed herself to belong to someone else. but not only that, sophie had given explicit permission to have another person make decisions for her, ones that pertained the personal relationships in her life.

her ex-boyfriend didn’t like it that she had so many friendships with men. sophie had never given that too much thought until he had come into the picture yet suddenly it had become an undeniable fact that the number of male friends she had was a match to the number of female. mostly unconsciously, sophie had distanced herself from those friends once she noticed he ex’s distaste. in retrospect, she wondered how she could’ve been that much of a fool. desperate for her knight in shining armor, the princess had let go of people she loved for someone who wouldn’t even fight for them when it came to it. gunwoo was one of those people. he had never been her closest friend but they were close. a friendship born out of mutual connections, one she had always felt comfortable in yet had let go of so quickly because of what a man expected of her. what did that make of her?

“ can i? ” eyes sparkling, sophie didn’t hesitate to take his hand in hers, looking at him filled with expectation. “ how can i make it up to you? should i fill up your drink? what are you drinking? is it whiskey? i can go get the bottle, ” she tried to stand up and it proved to be too fast when she swayed, using the grip she still had on his hand as a support as she fell back on the couch. “ or not. i think i’m more drunk than i thought i was, ” she let out a laugh, louder than she expected it to be, and smiled at him – sophie wouldn’t let go of his hand. “ i’m sorry. can i make it up to you in a different way? ”

     dressed in his poet shirt, sweat pants, and crusty, dirty socks, eric was more than content to spent the rest of the evening sitting in that chair. frankly, he had no clue what he was doing there. she seemed moved in enough to him, why bother helping when there’s more to life!      when she yelled at him he did not so much as blink. his eyes were focused on the game. he wished he brought his blue light glasses.      “huh!” he laughed, then turned to her with a cocked brow, “we’re in korea- you can’t talk to me like that.” he wiggled his head side to side, shaking it at her dramatically. he knew well that he and his sisters had not succumb to the ways of korea yet. at least, not entirely.      he shook his head at the game, then sighed. he leaned back in her expensive, gaming chair, “ha! yeah right!” he pointed at her, “you really think mom would pick up that call? hilarious.” he shook his head and turned back to the game.      “it’s all your stuff anyway- i don’t know why i have to do anything. just pick up the things and put them where they go- have you never cleaned a room before?”

“ i’ll talk to you anyway i want! ” the audacity, really, for him to suggest otherwise. even taking into consideration them being a year apart which still made him older than her, sophie had never cared to treat him with even a modicum of respect and she wasn’t going to start now. a part of her wanted to pout even harder at his response, the little voice in her head supplying nothing but a harsh whispered boys. but really, she knew it was all her brother. other guys his age certainly wouldn’t act this way.

infuriatingly, eric was right. their mom most definitely would not pick up the phone, whether it was a reasonable time in miami for her to do so or not – which it wasn’t. she cared very little for the petty fights between the two of them and it had always been their oldest brother to step in between them whenever things got slightly too heated. “ if she did, she’d get even madder at you for being a nuisance to the point of having me call her! ” sophie had to truly resist the temptation of tossing something at him. “ yah! i called you around so you could help me out, i didn’t call you for you to play games! you’re my brother, why can’t you act like it for once? ”
