foxhound but it's the yuri Violet and Faith 1, 4, 22
i am so sorry i took like a million years to answer thisssss 😭 new character relationship ask game also this is going to get long so you get answers under the cut
1) How did they meet?
at freddy's, around 1984 or so. faith and her classmate mikey would walk themselves over to freddy's and wait for their parents there (it's cheaper than a daycare). while mike would run off and play pirates, faith was a more diligent (or more bored) student, completing homework and practicing for her ballet class.
it was during one of these practice sessions that an argument broke out between mikey and another girl. faith stormed over to break it up, hear out both sides, and give them both a stern piece of her mind. afterwards, the girl, violet, shyly asked if faith would like to join their game as her first mate.
4) How would they describe each other if asked? Physically? In personality?
FAITH: "violet looks the same as she always has. and she looks like mrs. brown—do i look like my mom? i don't remember... we were all dressed up that day, in our "sunday best"—but vi... she'd rather die than wear a silly, froufrou dress like me. i... i guess she... did.
"she's my friend. she'll always be my friend. but sometimes she can just be so, so... so stubborn! i know what she thinks about me and mikey, but she just doesn't get it! i'm trying to help all of us!"
VIOLET: "faith always looks really pretty, i think. like... she wears all these really cute, frilly dresses and my mom keeps asking me why i don't like wearing dresses like that—i mean, she used to. it's just because i don't like them! but faith looks nice. and her hair—was—really smooth and shiny and sometimes she—she used to come to freddy's with a different style every day. and one time she did my hair in a bun like hers with a bow in it, really girly-like. i hated it. but she liked it, so i... i kept it the whole day.
"i don't get it. i don't get her! she was always so nice and—and she always knew what to say, like daddy did, but then she just... she changed. she's different. one minute she's on our side, and then the next she's helping that twerp?! i thought we were friends! and she—she... she's... she's always gonna be my first mate. even if she doesn't want me as her captain."
22) When were they the most vulnerable with each other?
the day violet found out her mom and lucian were in a relationship. violet freaked out yelling, started throwing things, and ran out of the house and all the way to freddy's. she hid in a vent and started kicking and screaming at anyone who tried to pull her out.
eventually, lucas asked faith for help, and the three of them sat side by side until violet calmed down enough to start talking. she ranted about how it felt like everyone was forgetting her dad and replacing him and leaving him behind—then faith opened up about her complicated feelings about her parents ongoing divorce, how she wanted to hate both of them and felt ashamed of it. they stayed in the vent a while longer, but by the time they left, they were all feeling a little better.

Midnight Motorist
i was debating on whether or not to post this now, given it takes place during lucasverse's as-yet-undiscussed fnaf3 arc... but i'm quite proud of this little story!
CW: implied alcoholism, child abuse / endangerment
Torrential downpour. The kind of weather that would've made your father frown to think of a stray lightning bolt blasting a power line, sending a tree crashing through the roof. Doesn't stop from pushing 50, 60, 70, 80—tires leaping over rain-slick asphalt like a figure skater on ice, the streetlamps bleeding light. The engine roars, the rain roars louder, but above them both you can still hear the cassette tape your cousin and whatever band she's in recorded, the earworm of a tune that loops over and over in your head and sets your teeth on edge.
You ought to have crashed by now. Lost control and skid, swerving and spinning straight into a tree. Maybe you would've taken another car, another driver down with you. But it's midnight. This storm's far from beginning.
Your aunt would've warned you against driving, told you to sit in a 24-hour diner or a bar until it washed over—well, you tried that already. Before you'd realized it, you were stumbling through the parking lot towards that neon sign, shirt sticking to your skin as the rain buzzed through your head. But you didn't even make it ten steps towards the entrance before the bouncer stopped you.
He didn't say anything, but he didn't have to. It was written all across his face: Come on, you know you can't be here. Maybe you could've argued your way inside. Maybe you would've managed to pull yourself together, maybe you would've managed to stay sober, or maybe you would've drowned yourself in another bottle or five, maybe you would've found someone who pitied you enough to drag you home with them. Maybe not.
You stared at him and he stared back, the look of half-pity and exasperation you give a man who you just dragged out of a pit, only to find him back there the next day with a shovel: Don't make this more difficult than it has to be. Maybe he'd seen something in you that scared him. Maybe he saw the writing on the wall.
Either way, there was nothing for you but the rain and the drive home and your aunt's advice—but what the fuck would Las Vegas know about storms?
She's miles and miles away now, and your exit is coming up. The music's been silent for a while.
There's no gate leading up to the property, and there's nothing stopping you from parking right up by the house. You've done pretty-much jack with the front lawn: gravel, gravel, more gravel. But you keep insisting one day you'll find the time to fix it up real nice, make it a real garden, and you keep parking at the end of it like you've got something to trample.
You slog forward—you’re going to get sick from this, you know—cold to the bone but not shivering, your body plastered to your sodden clothes and your boots overflowing. You pull yourself up the porch, and the absence of anything beating down on you should feel like a relief. But it's the itch you can't scratch, the scab you can't pick open.
The lights are on.
You fling open the front door. Your dad's hunched over in his armchair, squinting at re-runs of a game you don't care about. His hand twitches awkwardly around the remote, forever reaching for a beer bottle that won't exist. And if he cares about where you've been, trekking rainwater and mud into your house, he doesn't show it. Doesn't even look up. Maybe he doesn't have to.
“Leave him alone tonight,” he says. He's thinking of your son. “He had a rough day.”
Rough day? Your son had a rough fucking day? You've had plenty of rough days your entire goddamn life, but when was the last time your dad ever asked for you to be left alone? You could pick this fight, dig up the past with a twisting knife, gut your dad like a fish. It would hurt him. You could hurt him.
But your son had a rough day.
You climb the stairs. He's probably asleep; he’ll want to be left alone—and you know that, but you should check on him anyway. Ask if he ate dinner. Ask about homework. Be a good father. Try not to look him in the eyes.
Your son's bedroom sits at the end of the hallway. The door is closed. You twist the handle carefully, preparing to intrude; what will you say to him if he looks at you?
You don't have to worry. The handle jams with a click.
When you were his age, you shared a room with your sister in every place you lived in: seedy motels, run-down apartment blocks, dormitories, warehouses. Your dad set a few rules—no fighting, for one, and no locked doors. Safety, and all that. The rules haven't changed in this house.
“I told you not to close your door,” you say, loud enough that even through the rainfall, even if he's got his headphones on, even if he's pretending to be fast asleep, he can hear you. He’d better hear you.
No response. You knock. Nothing.
You turn back down the hallway, stand at the head of the stairs, look down into the flickering light of the TV. Water trickles down your face and drips down the steps, filthy dark stains on the wooden boards for the morning to clean up. This is your house. He can't ignore you like that. When the hell did he start getting like this? Six months ago, your son was always polite. Respectful. Never started a fight. He used to listen to you. And then it all changed when he met—
Ha.
Maybe he really is like you. More than you want him to be.
You sink to the floor. You clutch your head, wet strands of hair wrung dry between your fingers. Your dad's still watching the game. Or maybe he's asleep, all his energy spent waiting up for you. All his effort made useless. It feels like you've been waiting up, too, fifteen years behind locked doors with a loaded gun and a finger tensed around the trigger. Fifteen years of waiting for something to finally kick down that door. Aim and fire.
You remember the look on your son's face when he found the barrel pointed at him. No fear, just the expectation. Like he knew it was all leading up to that moment.
He didn't say anything about it in the morning. You buried the gun that night.
You tried to forget. You keep trying to forget. You wish you could forget. But you know exactly where you put it. In a box in a clearing in the woods. Same place you keep driving out to, same patch you keep digging up. Just to make sure it's still there. Just to make sure no one's found it yet.
Tonight, you found nothing but a pile of dirt and an empty grave.
You're back at your son's door before you realize it, your fist slamming into it like an axe. “OPEN THE DOOR!” you yell, but your words are howling wind. Your ear pressed to the painted wood, you hear nothing past the rain. No startled cry, no scramble out of bed, no sign of life. You wrench the handle until it threatens to snap—
No. This won't work.
You will find a way in from outside.
The TV blares a cheering crowd as you march downstairs; your father's chin collapsed onto his chest. Out cold. You ignore him.
It feels right when you stagger back outside and all is washed away. You round the corner to the back of the house, mud and filthwater clinging to your legs, and look up to your son's bedroom.
The window hangs open, panes cracked and shattered, curtains pulled outside and whipping wildly. Paint scraped off the walls, where shoes would've kicked climbing down the drainpipe. Remnants of footprints in the soilbed. Now, they're puddles collecting rain and shards of glass.
Your son had a rough day. Ran off to that place again. Only place he could be.
He knows how you feel about him going back there. He knows how you feel about going back there.
You stand and keep standing there, as thunder rumbles beyond the horizon, as you feel your edges begin to blur and melt away. A baptism is meant to cleanse, but once isn't enough for you: dunk twice for good measure, hold you under holy water. It turns into a warmth that creeps down from your head to your fingers.
You'll wait up for him, for when he gets back. He'll come back just before the sun, climb back into his room, grab whatever snatches of sleep he can get. He'll wake and find the mud in the hallway and his grandfather fast asleep in front of the TV and his father in front of the stove, and something sizzling in the pan. He will ask what's for breakfast. He will talk about homework. He will be a good son. He will try not to look you in the eyes.
He will be sorry when he gets back.

Hmm how abt asks 2 6 and 14 for Jaq?? I also have some for Marigold but Im sending separately
jaq jacqueline jackie... mrs dayasiri hobson-mitchell....... woman of all time <3 im So glad i made her who she is
2) What's something about your OC that people wouldn't expect just from looking at them?
she gets quite easily irritated by the people around her. jaq can actually be quite judgemental, nitpicking at every mistake she catches someone making (though she keeps her comments internal, of course). she can be persuaded to gossip, if she thinks it'll get her closer to someone she admires.
6) How easily could your OC be convinced to do something that goes against their moral compass?
as easily as it takes for her to get over her guilt. she's more likely to be reassured if she meets someone who's done the dirty deed and feels no remorse for it—say, a deadbeat father? i think she'd definitely draw the line at murder, though.
14) How does your OC want to be seen by other characters?
jaq wants to be seen as someone who's competent, who's successful, who has her life together. it's why she gravitates towards others she sees as having accomplished these things. or, if they have the drive and opportunity to get there, she's also comforted by the fact also they haven't got there... yet.
#parlourverse au#fazmail#lucasverse lore#char: jacqueline#ask game#also yeah i answered these backwards bc i love marigold more sorreyyyyy#love you too jaq. but your niece is funnier#also answering these were weirdly simple idk.#ask me about her weird semi-obsessive friendship with the guy they hired to take her brother's place

Okay 13 and 23 for Marigold!! Also yk what 11 too. I am curious to know abt what Marigold pick as a weapon in a fight. If only bc shes such a bubbly person
thank you bestie perfect excuse to introduce marigold to the world. have some color tests while i take a few sentences to talk about my girl:
marigold dayasiri-brown was born on august 8th, 1988, a lone ray of sunshine in her grieving mother mahogany's life. cheerful and exuberant, marigold has a knack for chemistry and less of a knack for making friends, but her boundless optimism is sure to take her far!
unfortunately, her biological father's shadow (i'm sure you can guess who that is) looms large in her family's memory, and sometimes that's all they can see...
shoutout to the anon in the parlourblog who made the outcast child au! anyway, onto the questions:
11) What is your OC's weapon of choice? Have they ever actually used it?
i imagine lucas makes her carry around a swiss army knife "just in case", although she's a bit too squeamish around knives to actually use the "knife" part. her real heavy-duty weapon is the can of bug spray in her trusty backpack. good for spraying bugs as well as the eyes of creepy strangers!
13) If you met your OC, would the two of you get along?
oh i really, really hope so. marigold would definitely do most of the talking but she would also ask a bunch of (possibly annoying) questions and force out of my shell <3 she's also just a really sweet kid in general and i trust her taste in music and media.
23) What emotion is the hardest for your OC to process? How about express?
ooh, probably betrayal. she's not socially aware enough to realize when she's being made fun of, especially by other girls in class. she can be quite trusting and naive that when they say they're her friends, they actually mean it. i think she's been burned quite a few times since starting middle school, but she's never fully processed any of it... it doesn't really help that she's normalized the distance and mild disdain her grandfather and cousin treat her with.
which connects to the emotion she finds hardest to express: sadness. i think, deep down, marigold feels increasingly lonelier as she grows up and her world gets wider and she feels smaller. but she clings to the idea that, if she just keeps smiling, with her spirits raised and her head held high, she'll find her place. until then, she's listening to the fazband play on...
#parlourverse au#fnafparlour#fazmail#lucasverse lore#char: marigold#ask game#she is sugar spice and everything nice#puppies and sunshine and rainbows etc#and the world hates her for this smfh 😤

The world needs to know about Mike and his stunning 2nd wife, his malewife
Mike
2, 8, 13, 20
Rodrigo
4, 13, 19, 23
this ask is going to be so long ill just put it under a readmore 😭 foxhound supremacy forever
MIKE:
2) What's something about your OC that people wouldn't expect just from looking at them?
it's very easy for him to slip into a paranoid spiral when what he remembers (or thinks he remembers) doesn't line up with what's in front of him. if it's an isolated, easily explainable instance, mike can brush it off. when it becomes a pattern, mike will start distrusting either his own perception or reality itself, becoming very confused and agitated when other people act as if nothing is wrong.
usually faith or lucas would immediately sense what's happening and ground him by assuring him of a logical (usually faulty memory-related) explanation, or erasing his memory entirely (in faith's case). truly, what would mike do without them...
8) Would your OC ostensibly be able to get away with murder?
probably not, or at least not very well... i think he would mostly feel too sick to his core to attempt to get away with it, even if it was in self-defense. mike doesn't like hurting people.
he'd definitely do better if he had help from someone who actually knows what they're doing in this situation (coughcough lucas).
13) If you met your OC, would the two of you get along?
as strangers, we'd just be staring at each other awkwardly. if he knew who i was, he'd probably get mad at me for putting him in this situation and then i'd cry </3
20) Does your OC have a tendency to get jealous? If so, how does this manifest?
i think he'd only get jealous in extremely specific circumstances, like if doll (or a certain pirate) suddenly started pulling away from mike emotionally and spending a lot of time elsewhere, with someone else. it reignites a lot of the insecurity mike felt growing up, the idea that there's something wrong with him, that he's "damaged goods", that he's not good enough for the people he loves.
RED:
he'd direct a lot of this anger at himself, probably start drinking to cope until they (inevitably) break the news that they don't love him and are leaving him and he should go die in a hole. (there were at least a few times when mike suspected doll might leave him, especially early in their relationship, after they both got disowned for being together.)
4) When scared, does your OC fight, flee, freeze or fawn?
his first instinct is to flee, but if that's not possible for whatever reason (he's cornered or someone he cares about is in danger) then he'll fight tooth and claw.
13) If you met your OC, would the two of you get along?
see mike's answer 💀
19) How does your OC behave when enraged?
23) What emotion is the hardest for your OC to process? How about express?
there are kind of two main stages: first, red goes completely cold and serious, dead-focused on whatever made him angry in the first place. if he can settle the issue with a (relatively) calm discussion, he will. he's not really one for confrontation, but his personal pride is something that he can't let stay chipped.
the second stage is after all negotiations have gone badly, or if negotiations were never on the table in the first place. rodrigo essentially just flips out and tries to (metaphorically?) bite the other person's face off. he is not stopping until they apologize, die, or he dies going after them. if this feud goes on long enough, he'll do anything in his power to ruin their life. but he's not a monster enough to bring their family into it.
probably existential dread. the idea that the world will go on and on without him and not even spare him a glance. he doesn't want to face the fact that he has been forgotten by everyone, even if he knows logically that it's true. it's why he keeps telling his stories, trying to relive the past glory days. he's not ready to give up on himself yet.
red finds it hard to express genuine love and affection, especially verbal affirmations like "i love you" or even "i'm glad you're in my life". he stays quiet about these things until they're too big to ignore, and even then he's probably going to ignore them for as long as possible until the other person makes the first move.
#parlourverse au#fazmail#lucasverse lore#char: mike#char: red rodrigo#char: lucian#<—its so fucking funny everytime i add this tag#its like foxys asshole twin brother or smth. red is just trying to crush on mike in piece and then The Devil is here

Lucas 2, 23
heehee hi 😁 bugman 2. why is he the worst actually
2) What's something about your OC that people wouldn't expect just from looking at them?
hmm... well he really isn't as family-oriented as he seems. sure, his entire life revolves around the ghost of his cousin (and their friends), and he places great importance on helping out his aunt and granduncle in their family restaurant... but it's really just because of the guilt eating at him. lucas doesn't value family as a reality over family as a symbol. it's why he's quite blinded to the love and support he gets from mahogany (and more recently, marigold).
23) What emotion is the hardest for your OC to process? How about express?
grief!!! the entire plot/reason of being for lucasverse is just lucas taking 30 years to learn how to grieve properly: his friends, his childhood, mike, his mother, uncle, freddy's (when you list it all out it's kind of a lot) and a million smaller things in between...
as for expression, probably forgiveness. i don't think he's ever forgiven a person in his life. he's not having a proper conversation/apology about it; it's just a sudden absence of his presence while he goes and finds someone else to hold a one-sided eternal grudge against someone else.
#parlourverse au#fazmail#lucasverse lore#ask game#char: lucas#i love answering questions about this guy only to find out hes actually??? the fucking worst???

Creature known as Lucas for the Ask Meme
4, 11, 13, 16
truly he is a bug of a man. a veritable insect
4) When scared, does your OC fight, flee, freeze or fawn?
lucas is really only scared of two things (the man who murdered his friends and panther) so when he's put into panic mode it's like he's a small, terrified boy again and he locks up like a deer in headlights. after he regains his senses, though, he switches to fawn or flight depending on who he's facing. panther, at least, can be reasoned with.
11) What is your OC's weapon of choice? Have they ever actually used it?
lucas is more of an opportunist, but his toolbox probably has a wieldable wrench or screwdriver, though he'd prefer something longer-ranged. i can see him concealed carrying a handgun in the future. he probably hasn't attacked anyone with either.
if we're going with a more broad/metaphorical meaning of "weapon", he's a proficient gaslighter. and he has directed the old fazband in jeremy's direction, so...
13) If you met your OC, would the two of you get along?
no! lmao.
longer answer: irl, i'm chatty if i ever say more than ten words a day instead of just lurking and staring at other people. and lucas would Noooot give a fuck about a random stranger. besides if he knew i'm the one who put him through all this i would just be dead. also he's probably a conservative, all things considered (at the very least fiscally).
16) What is your OC's pain tolerance like?
physically, probably on the higher end of tolerating pain. guy who drives his foot into a brick wall at the speed of a freight train and just walks it off. freak.
emotionally, he puts up a good guard but the gaps in his armor are incredibly exploitable. one jab in the right spot and he is crushed. he folds so quickly. he's like the perfect living weapon candidate.
#parlourverse au#fazmail#lucasverse lore#char: lucas#ask game#hi freak. what's wrong with you freak.

Assorted Mike Thoughts
been discussing/workshopping the differences between @fivenightsatfreddysfanfiction's mike schmidt and this au's take on him (thanks to @mangleschmidt for listening to me yap 😁) and i think my ideas are solid/interesting enough that you guys would like to hear!
WHY THE CHANGE?
i've pretty consistently struggled with writing mike for lucasverse. he felt too nice, too level-headed, restrained himself too much; or on the opposite end, too distant, too hands-off, too cold. it felt like i couldn't grasp the character laid out in parlourverse. theoretically, i knew what made pv!mike tick, his quirks of personality and his tone of voice, but i could never quite put it to paper (or google docs)
so, after another deep dive into the parlourblog looking for info and inspiration, something avec said made me pause. i think it was something about listening to your characters, letting them take you where they want to go, even if it's not where you originally thought you'd end up. well, i listened! and i think i'm pretty happy with where my mike and i are. hope you like him too!
AS A SYMBOL
lv!mike started really branching off from parlourverse after i started thinking about pv!mike's "guilt of the 6th" title. pv!mike gets it from being the survivor of the bite of 87, that guilt he doesn't know he has being compounded by the guilt of him failing the night guards under his watch. but it got me thinking: in lucasverse, mike isn't the (only) one with guilt on his hands, or even the one most concerned with the weight of that guilt—it's Lucas! lucas's entire motivations are fueled and driven by guilt, past and present. with the story i have, i felt it was far more appropriate to pass the title onto him instead.
this left me with a dilemma: if lv!mike doesn't have guilt, what Does he have? this had me pretty stuck. i ended up working on other characters, figuring them out, and occasionally trying to see mike through their eyes. as i did, i started noticing one common thread—mike brought them Hope! the gears started turning and turning in my head, and then it just clicked into place. pv!jeremy is the "hope of the 7th"; for reasons i can't get into (but perhaps you can guess), lv!jeremy was never one of the intended victims. but what if mike's strength to survive brought hope to others? what if he was the "hope of the 6th"?
this revelation kickstarted a new trajectory for lv!mike as i worked through the questions in my head: what does hope mean, in mike's case? well, hope could be something that he clings to for survival—getting to buy doll a ring, for example—but hope can also be something that blinds him from danger—seeing the best in lucas and trusting in him despite warning signs. okay, so what gives him this hope? perhaps a desperation to believe in a good, or at least, better life/living situation; a need to believe in someone reliable, a shoulder to lean on when things get tough. then how does it his relationship with others? maybe mike tries to be the best for them, goes the extra mile for them, doesn't let them see the worst so they can keep their own hope; likewise, he becomes reluctant to believe the worst of the people he trusts implicitly, the people who give Him hope.
i'd like to think that this isn't so much a rewriting of pv!mike as it is a shifting of the camera, looking at mike schmidt from a new angle. even jeremy could easily have the weight of guilt on him—sins of the father and all that—which is what makes this take on mike exciting to me. hyping myself up and all 😁
AS A PERSON
another hurdle i faced was the very real fact that environment around you often changes who you become, and lv!mike's environment was certainly significantly changed from parlourverse. the first and most obvious was the inclusion of lucas—he's in the au's name after all!—and his friendship with mike. you may remember a relationship web i made where mike has, well, kind of a "nothing" opinion towards lucas. in the moment, it was mostly because i thought the contrast between their opinions of each other was hilarious (it still is), but the more lv!mike developed in my head, the more it just didn't feel right anymore.
the way i see it: when lucas and mike met, they were both extremely desperate any sort of social foundation. lucas was just fresh off of scott's death, someone he looked up to and latched onto as a friend and father, and suddenly tasked with the burden of saving his not-quite-dead friends; in my backstory, mike was disowned for his relationship with doll, a late paycheck away from being homeless, desperate to secure this job after being turned away constantly for his disability. their relationship would've been awkward and rocky at first—overeager, passionate lucas and gruff, wary mike—but to me, it only makes sense that they would've seen each other as, really, the only friend they each had. they're a team: mike and lucas, lucas and mike.
this friendship would've changed them both, for better and maybe a little worse. in lucasverse's fnaf 1 arc, mike is definitely a lot closer in personality to his parlourverse counterpart. i feel as though pv!mike's prickliness is definitely enforced by his isolation from anyone he can really talk to or trust (at least before jeremy, where he opens up considerably and his edges soften). in lucasverse, i imagine that process happening much earlier: lucas's careful restraint helping to cool down mike's aggravated temper, and mike's sharp wit and judgement giving lucas a boost in confidence.
during the start of their friendship, they take cues from each other equally, though i think the changes in mike are more drastically obvious than in lucas. for one, lv!mike's relationship with the old fazband is definitely far less antagonistic than pv!mike and his fazband. while mike never fully becomes comfortable around them, i feel as though lucas's unwavering affection/enthusiasm towards his "kids" ends up swaying mike, in that "i don't really get or like this thing that much, but if you like it, it's gotta have some merit" way. (the rest of the fazbear fanboying is still weird, though.) additionally, i think lucas has somehow gotten mike to cut down heavily on the swearing. this is a children's establishment, michael. yes, even when the animatronics are around. they're impressionable.
by the time the fnaf 2 arc rolls around, though, i imagine the balance between them has shifted from equality to weighing in lucas's favor. it's not just that he's the (assistant) manager now, it's not just that faith is in the mix—mike trusts lucas completely. why wouldn't he? that's his friend: they talk shit during breaks, goof off after hours, lucas buys him a beer now and then and grounds him when his memory fogs. and mike is the only one lucas trusts to take the night shift now, with all these night guards breaking the rules, tampering with the animatronics or running off without a word.
when you become so used to relying on someone you stop listening to yourself. you become complacent. and when you already doubt your own mind, well... all the easier to let them help you out. you trust them, right? by the time mike meets jeremy, i think he's fully in a state of autopiloting his way through life. he's comfortable. sure, he's working two shifts, but that's just extra money he can save up to get out of this place, this town, this state. for right now, he's settled in his little status-quo bubble. keep hopeful for the future; don't think about the present. don't think about what you've been sweeping under the carpet.
jeremy is the wake-up call. jeremy is smack upside the head that tells mike to pay attention. jeremy is the tearing apart of status quo. jeremy says, "is this what you want to do with your life? is this the kind of person you want to stay as?" jeremy breaks rules to get where he needs to be, stumbles and shoves his way towards the truth, lights the fire of determination because it doesn't matter how much hope you have if you don't claw and drag yourself bleeding to reach it. mike's relationship with jeremy is a stark contrast to his relationship with lucas: jeremy challenges mike constantly, is a pain in mike's ass and lights a fire under it. mike both keeps jeremy at arm's length—a trainee rather than a son—but is still driven by him. lucas tells mike what he wants to hear; jeremy makes mike question himself, realize that the person you need to trust most is your own self.
and what if your own self is the one trying to keep secrets from you? faith and mike are so inseparable and yet they never truly meet; heads and tails of a coin that can't twist to see itself. it's honestly ironic that so much of their relationship is built around faith's Lack of faith in mike: not trusting him with his own memories, with his own body, with his own life. in a way, faith is the final obstacle mike has to face before he can become fully realized as a person. ah well, at risk of spoiling the story, mike and faith will have to figure out life without the other in some very traumatic ways. but i have... Faith in them. eh? eh??? was that mike-worthy? i'm writing this all in one sitting and it's 4am
and with this, i finally come to the end of my very long series of thoughts. if you're reading this, feel free to let me know what you think! send me an ask, dm me, join the parlourverse discord to yell at me there, send anon hate, whatever! ummmm have some bonus art of side characters i haven't drawn yet. see if you can guess their names!*
*fritz, iris the journalist, and scott. you'll meet the first two eventually! rip scott

Ooh ngl... your answer for Jaq's Q20 made me more curious so how about Q22 for her. And 23 for that matter
just for clarification, my definition of jealousy vs envy is the anger/anxiety of someone taking what you have vs the anger/anxiety of wanting what someone else has.
22) How does jealousy manifest itself in them (they become possessive, they become aloof, etc)?
jaq tends not to voice her frustration but vents it out through her actions by disrupting her expected routines (staying out later than usual, "forgetting" something she was asked to do, becoming flaky about arrangements, etc.). but funnily enough, she's less likely to target the person she's jealous of and more likely to take it out on whatever (or whoever) she's worried about losing.
23) How does envy manifest itself in them (they take what they want, they become resentful, etc)?
jaq gets close to the people she's envious of, acts extremely nice, tries to be their friend. she's honestly envious of basically everyone in her life, in one way or another; it's like everyone else has it all figured out except her. she feels guilty about it, though, which is probably why she tries to overcompensate via her niceness.

I am at long last (temporarily) freed from university purgatory sooo how abt 31 and 37 for Lucas 👁️
Also curious abt 20 for Jaq and Darwin!
q20 about to be the bane of my aroace existence 😭 youre so lucky youre my best friend 😤 /j
LUCAS:
31) Who are they the most glad to have met?
mike, absolutely—mike is lucas's best friend. he's half the reason lucas gets up in the morning; he keeps lucas hopeful every single day that, maybe, things can go back to the way they should be. the way things used to be. maybe this time he'll get it right.
but mahogany is a very close second (even if she's known him since he was born so they really didn't "meet" per se...) lucas is extremely grateful to her for taking him in after he ran away and letting him work at freddy's. he would not be the man he is now without her.
37) Do they have a system for remembering names, long lists of numbers, things that need to go in a certain order (like anagrams, putting things to melodies, etc)?
lucas finds it easy to put names to faces, so he doesn't struggle there, and as for numbers, it's more efficient to just write it down than try to memorize them. for ordered lists, he'll just mentally repeat it over and over until it's ingrained while performing the tasks associated. takes time off thinking if you've built up muscle memory.
JAQ + DARWIN:
20) If they were asked to explain the difference between romantic and platonic or familial love, how would they do so?
JAQ: "um, well... i mean, platonic love is easy: you either like someone or you don't. and family—well, you might not even like them, but... you only get one, right? that sounds bad. i don't actually mean that—um... when you're in love, romantic love, with someone—or think so, anyway—you start feeling all these butterflies, this excitement, this need to be close to them all the time, because they're the only one that understands you, really gets you. you think you want to spend the rest of your life this way, with them—buuut that feeling tends to die right after the honeymoon and the kids, so might as well marry someone you can tolerate looking at for the next fifty years, right...? sorry. bad joke. i'm sorry—i don't know what i'm saying. just... don't tell darwin i said any of that. i'm not—it's not fair to him."
DARWIN: "i think... you know it's true love when it comes out of friendship. you meet someone, get to know her, maybe you have things in common, or maybe you don't. but you feel this happiness being with her and talking to her... the idea of romance might not even cross your mind at first, or even for years, but... then something happens that just opens your eyes. you feel a—a spark, and you start seeing her in a completely new light. she's the same person she always was, but you start to notice all these little things about her. it's like finding out a glass marble was made of diamond the whole time. maybe that's too cheesy."
