okay i’ve had a minute to think about it and sabrina’s album cover could really make me feel either way
like if that was the cover of some riot grrl punk album filled with songs screaming about the patriarchy and men’s treatment of women as objects and pets then i would love it and think it’s smart and artistic, so i don’t think it’s solely the cover that’s off putting
i think the new country-ish sound to her music and the current political climate made me frightened, and tbh i still kinda am
like i feel like with an album cover like that you need to be OVERTLY feminist in the content you are putting out, you cannot leave any room for misinterpretation, if the whole album is intentionally trying to make the listener uncomfortable in order to show how women are treated and the types of things they experience when being in the spotlight? i totally get it, but i have yet to see sabrina’s music or even herself personally take that much of a leap into something so controversial right now, and from a business perspective it would not be smart to start pushing topics that would make people (especially corporations and advertisers) uncomfortable when you are just breaking into the mainstream and are still trending upwards (look at chappell roan and the hate she gets, and she isn’t even that crazy with it) so i’m worried she’s not going to commit to it, i would absolutely LOVE for her work to take that kind of turn, but i don’t know if its entirely plausible for her
and i know sabrina writes more than just songs about men and relationships, but with something that aggressive you CANNOT half-ass the message being pushed in the album, and if i’m being honest manchild doesn’t quite cut it as the ā€œman hating anthemā€ it’s being praised for, especially since sabrina blames both herself and the ā€œmanchild’sā€ mom for the guys behaviour (i like my men all incompetent) (i choose to blame your mom), writing feminist music takes more than just comedically killing men in your music videos and making sarcastic jabs about how men are stupid
either way i’m not like ā€œšŸ˜”šŸ˜”šŸ˜” sabrina wtfā€ i’m more like ā€œšŸ˜¬šŸ˜¬ sabrinaaaa i’m nervous where are we going with thisā€, y’know?

putting a blonde (bitch) in a leash calling it "man's best friend" while the actual blonde bitch (sab) is being tugged by the hair as she is expected to look good and sexual still, oh my god the misogyny discussion we are about to have as a society is going to be soooo good

I think one of the strongest aspects of Season 2 of The Last of Us was focusing on the Reality of the situations.
Dina's a 19 year old who got shot in the leg; yeah, she's going to freak the heck out!
Tending to dangerous wounds isn't easy or straightforward. I don't know if I've ever seen another show have a similar scene to them determining how to remove the arrow without making it worse. (One that wasn't already medical focused.)
Shooting guns absolutely sometimes ends in accidents.
No, it's not realistic for Ellie to go successfully and/or intentionally kill every person she comes across like some sort of Combat Master.
Tribalism is a real thing that happens, especially in a world like TLOU. Jackson folk are just as affected. They're just also more isolated.
Ellie's got two competing sides to her during all this, and a part is still willing to die for strangers because that's always been who she is. Her murderous rage hasn't just erased that.
And that's just a few from the last episode

tlou s2 finale spoilers!
now the scene where Mel dies? hits way harder in the show then in game and here’s why.
ellies already shaken up— she almost got lynched and gutted , she’s cold , shaking and soaked from literally washing up on a island—.
and then she finds them and let me fucking tell you , Bella Ramsey does such a good job acting out this scene cause you can see how shaken up Ellie is in this moment.
and then she shoots Owen , which already kinda fucked her up but then when she notices Mel is shot too , it’s a different story.
not only is she pregnant , but Mel is begging her with her last breaths to save her baby , to take it out , literally instructing her.
but she doesn’t. and you can see it in her face how much that broke her , that she truly cannot come back from this.
I think this just proves that Bella Ramsey deserves a fucking Emmy.

What hits me so hard about Ellie’s arc this season is that she isn’t bad. She isn’t evil, and we see that time and time again. She’s trying to be ruthless, trying to be brutal, but that isn’t her base state. That isn’t who she is.
She still wants to help kids. She still wants to spare innocents. She still wants to make Joel proud. But she fails. She doesn’t get her grand vengeance, she doesn’t get to be the good guy, the righteous guy. She was so sure she was justified, she was right, but in the finale we finally see all of it crumbling down. Instead, she gets someone close to her killed. Instead, her vengeance does nothing but hurt people.
She isn’t a ruthless killer. She’s a kid in way over her head. And we see that sometimes the world isn’t like a movie, sometimes being determined isn’t enough.
Sometimes you fail anyway.

seth is meant to represent joel's father.
joel pushing seth after he insulted his child is him finding the courage to fight his own father rather than simply accepting that this is how things are supposed to be.

the way mel’s death was actually so sad in the show, her repeatedly asking ā€œis it out…?ā€ while she dies is the saddest fucking thing i’ve ever seen, she knew she was gonna die and she trusted the girl that shot both her and the baby’s father to get her baby out so it wouldn’t die with her, she reassured ellie that she was doing a good job while ellie panicked, she just wanted her baby to live
