there have been killings in palestinian "safe" zones and at supply stations throughout the day. the reported number of confirmed deaths sits at about 40, but i'm sure the actual number is much higher.
now, the madleen has been taken, and its crew has been kidnapped. they were told to turn their phones off and cast them into the ocean. some of them were on calls with family and friends when this occurred, and i pray that whatever happens, their loved ones will find peace knowing that the crew of the madleen were only doing the right thing, and something that too few people are brave enough to do.
i have seen the photo of the crew with their hands up in a sign of surrender, and i hope that israel will, for once, be good on their word and do only as they said they would to this small crew of unarmed people who only wanted to help, which is arrest them and then deport them in the same night. i hope they will be smart enough, too, to know that hurting these people will only create new martyrs and further prove the idf and the israeli government to be the monsters we already know they are.
regardless of what happens, i hope that globally, more people will come to see israel as the violent, oppressive, disgusting genocidal machine that they are, that they would not even let 12 unarmed civilians bring rice and baby formula to the people that israel has been starving, that israel has bombed out of their homes and is continuing to terrorize day after day. i dream of peace for the people of palestine, but as that is yet unachievable, i pray for the destruction of the colonizer state that is israel, and for the safety of those trying to do what is right.
free the crew of the madleen, and more importantly, free palestine.

if you advertise your book using an AI generated image i will automatically assume that the book and every positive review/comment about it is also AI generated and avoid it forever

just a heads up to my fellow writers out there that AO3 is currently fighting off bots commenting on people’s works to tell them that AO3 will delete their fics “due to the works being deprecated”, and the deletion will affect their accounts unless the authors delete the fics themselves first. IT IS A SCAM. AO3 will NOT delete your works. please do NOT fall for these bots!
I’ve been told the reason why these bots are doing this is due to copyright infringement issue where they’re trying to steal your works (possibly to train AI but this is just a guess) ‼️‼️‼️and once you deleted your fics, it will be either very difficult or impossible for you to claim ownership of your own fics when they were already deleted.‼️‼️‼️
a reminder that AO3 will never contact you through your comments section (in case they claim to be one of the moderators). AO3 will only contact you through your email address which you use to register your account, and it will be from AO3’s official handle. not some sketchy ass @
so if you get a comment telling you you should “delete your works to protect your account because AO3 is doing blah blah blah” report that comment. don’t delete your works.
PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR THESE SCAM.
AO3 IS NOT DELETING WORKS.
DO NOT DELETE YOUR WORKS JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE CLAIMS THEY KNOW SOMETHING.

if you're aware of the Vulture article on Neil Gaiman, there's not much i can add; if you aren't and you go looking, my only advice is that if you hit a point where you're wondering if you should bail, do so, because the details of his behavior only get more vile as it goes along.
however, one thing i WILL say is to be on the lookout for smear campaigns against the sources and/or the journalist, Lila Shapiro, in the coming weeks and months. i cannot stress enough how brave this article is. if there's one thing more hazardous to your reputation than blowing up a rich and influential serial predator in the entertainment industry, it's making the church of scientology look bad, and she's managed to do both in one stroke. remember Lila Shapiro's name, and be extremely skeptical if it suddenly turns up later this year as the target of some slimy allegation.

Republicans wrote laws in the House, Republicans in the Senate approved.
Trump is not in office.
There is no executive order.
Yet everything changed and changed back.
This is a performance.

HOW TO AO3
the difference between "orphaning" a fic and posting/making a fic under "anonymous" section.
orphaning a fic
once you've orphaned a fic, it means the work is no longer yours and there is no way you can "unorphan" the work once it has been orphaned. what does it mean? — it means your name will not be attached to the work, you cannot edit the work, you cannot delete the work and you cannot reclaim the work. you will lose the ownership of your work forever once you've orphaned it.
posting a fic under "anonymous" section
by posting or making your published work "anonymous", your name will not be publicly attached to said work (but will still appear in "my works" section where only you can see). the big difference between orphaning a work and posting/turning a work under anonymous section is that — unlike an orphaned work — you can edit, delete or even reclaim a work under anonymous section anytime you want. you will also still be receiving an email alerting you when someone gives kudos or comments on an anonymous work of yours.
if you don't want your name associated with some specific works you wrote, but at the same time still want to have ownership of them, I suggest you turn them "anonymous" instead of orphaning them.
remember: orphaning a fic is permanent. once you've done it, you cannot undo it. whereas posting or making published work "anonymous" can be undone.

Look – you need to remember something important. The greenhouse gases that’ll be released into the atmosphere when these fuels are burned accumulate in the atmosphere, like water filling up a bathtub. So let’s view each PM’s exported emissions record as they accumulated into their tenure as Australia’s head of state. Under Albanese, Australia has exported the same cumulative amount of emissions in his first six quarters as the three most recent Coalition (the conservative party) Prime Ministers did. He has been mostly indistinguishable from Scott Morrison, Malcolm Turnbull and Tony Abbott, when it comes to the sale of the cause of climate change
Labor and their "progressive patriotism" - to sell us out to fossil fuel companies because they paid Labor for it.

I remember how fucking massive this video was 20 years ago when YouTube was in its infancy so it’s cool to read trivia about it. For anyone old enough to remember, it’s definitely giving VH1’s Pop-Up Video.
