Welp. Someone called Bridget a femboy again and said that her being trans was a “politically motivated decision to pander to the woke mob and that the LGBTQ+ community hates feminine men.”

Is it really a crime that there exists some more genuine trans representation in a world where people need it more than ever? Especially if it allows the writers to explore a character’s journey even more in depth in story built around characters either trying to find what to do with the rest of their lives now that the story’s over or attempting to start over again. Bridget’s story to me is an example of what makes Guilty Gear a special series to me. It’s a story about larger-than-life characters coming to terms with themselves and their emotions. It’s a story of self-reflection and discovery of oneself in the midst of a world desperate to crush you. It’s a story where a character like Bridget finding who she is after years of hiding it from herself or attempting to deny it makes perfect sense.

In the end, Bridget being a trans girl is not bad writing, nor is it erasure of a group of people. It’s simply another story of someone trying to find themselves. And I think that is beautiful.
