And that there will be people, including me, rooting for you to succeed even as you navigate all the challenges of coming to terms with who you are if your community or sometimes your family isn’t ready to accept that. And that on the other side of that there are a whole lot of people who are ready to accept you. And that you belong. Whether you have been told you belong or not, you do. And the beauty of America is that if we build America the way it ought to be, it can have a place for everybody.”

AOC is right. Here’s the definition of Concentration Camp: a place where large numbers of people, especially political prisoners or members of persecuted minorities, are deliberately imprisoned in a relatively small area with inadequate facilities, sometimes to provide forced labor or to await mass execution.

She did not say that the border crisis was equivalent to the Holocaust or anything like that. It is true that nazi concentration camps along with death camps were the most extreme and evil versions of this term, but AOC wasn’t wrong to use it.

I just watched a two hour launch party. Pete Buttigieg will get my vote. I have relatives from South Bend who sing his praises, I love hearing him speak, and I am impressed by everything he says. If you’re voting in the US Democratic primary in the fall, please consider him.

I… Really didn’t want to answer this ask. Definitely not a vibe I want to have on my blog. But I feel responsible, to share this so people will know that people like anon still exists, and it won’t get better after the generation of survivors and witnesses will be gone. It’ll only get worse. We have a responsibility to not let people think like that, to not not let the experiences of the people who suffered unimaginable pain just for being born a certain ethnicity be disrespected this way.

Anon, I don’t know what to say to you. I feel deeply hurt for my family and people, that education has failed you so much that that’s what you think… I can only advise you to read about it, to hear testimonies, to see pictures, to relearn what you think you know. Then come back to me and tell me what exactly has been exaggerated

Tonight is the Jewish Sabbath, it is traditional to light two candles. Tonight we will also light additional candles to honour the Muslim victims of the horrific and senseless terror attack in New Zealand. The terrorists will not divide us. Jews stand in solidarity and grief with our Muslim cousins.
