I know you hate trump but who do you want to win the election?

My dream is for Pete Buttigieg to win because aside from agreeing with most of his policies, I think having LGBTQ+ representation in the White House would be SUCH a huge deal and a beautiful source of inspiration for members of the community who struggle with feeling invisible and neglected by those in power. 

All that said, he’s only polling at around 10% nationally, so unless he dominates on Monday in Iowa and later in NH, he’s probably done. I do like Biden and Klobuchar and I guess Warren after her, but I’ll vote for whoever the nominee is, even if I despise them. All of them are better than Trump.

Although I’ve posted a few stories about Mayor Pete, I don’t have a favorite yet for 2020. Whoever wins the primary...I’m voting for. I think I’m more of a Bernie fan, but I could be persuaded by Mayor Pete. He’s a little too moderate and religious for me, but we have an openly gay candidate who has gotten this far. I’m impressed with that. Could we have a Bernie/Pete 2020 ticket?

Okay, boomer

If there was ever any doubt that "ok, boomer" has a political meaning, look no further than the latest Quinnipiac poll.

*all pacing claims will be put in quotations because the reality of these claims are dubious at best.*

Biden, reclaimed his position as "front runner" at 24%.

78% of his respondents are over 35 years of age, 67% are over 50 years of age.

Buttigieg rose to 15%, putting him "tied" for "second".

55% of his respondents are over 35 years of age, 39% over 50 years of age.

Bernie Sanders still holds the majority support of young voters.

28% of his respondents are under 35, and 18% are under 50

Warren is not far behind concerning young voters.

19% under 35

No matter which way you split it, Biden supporters (or anyone elses for that matter) do not comprise a majority of the party.

A culmination of progressive candidates (Yang, Sanders, Warren) and their supporters comprise of 29 % of the party (2%, 13%, 14% respectively).

A culmination of moderate candidates (Biden, Buttigieg, Klobuchar) comprise 43% of the party (24%, 16%, 3% respectively).

The remaining candidates, who none individually poll greater than 3%, comprise of 18% of the party.

11% declined to choose/do not know.

Electability is pushing people center

26% of Biden supporters say that electability in 2020 is of their greatest concern.

20% of Buttigieg supporters say that electability is a concern.

No one is sure.

64% of respondents might change, including 73% of Buttigieg respondents, 54% of Biden respondents, 49% Sanders, 69% Warren.

Takeaways:

The history of the Democratic Party is repeating itself as far as this poll is concerned, scared Democrats recovering from loss are moving center, with Biden and Buttigieg representing that notion.

If the race were held today, there would be no presidential candidate with a true backing of the the majority of the Democratic Party.

The youth is more progressive, older voters are more moderate

My conclusions:

More candidates need to drop out.

Progressives should unite behind a single candidate.

Democrats should learn from the past and not reject a progressive form of the Democratic party.

It would be sweet justice if an upright, decent gay man brought down Donald Trump, since it was an indecent, horrible gay wretch (Roy Cohn) who mentored him in NYC and taught him all his worst, most despicable, tactics in politics and legal life.
