It's that time again: the time where my Patrons get to choose what species I focus on getting online next!

I wonder if Dale Cooper always knew he was doomed. Maybe he realized as a kid that he wasn’t going to have a normal life, that one day he would be called towards something unfathomable, and he’d forfeit his future to find it. I wonder if all of those little gifts to himself, all of the moments of joyful indulgence, were preparation for the inevitable. I wonder if Dale Cooper realized that if he ever wanted to see beyond his fear of what was coming for him, he would have to fill his life with every ounce of love he could squeeze from it.

i hope luigi mangione is proven innocent & gets to sue a ton of companies for slander and win & i hope he gets enough money to rebuild his life and get any help for his chronic pain that he needs & i hope he’s able to disappear from the public eye entirely if that’s what he wants

One of the major dividing lines of our age is between those who think it's worthwhile to cooperate and work with other people, accepting their flaws and limitations, to build something larger than ourselves, and those who think everything is fundamentally hopeless and that other people are corrupt, degenerate, and suspect. And the latter is not conducive to having any kind of culture at all.

anyway you should always remember that all those foreigners you see dying on the news are just as real people as you are who have just as much interiority as you do. there is nothing about you that makes you more important and it is by pure chance that you are not in their position. in fact, this holds for all of history. every person, no matter the horror of the fate that befell them, had just as much interiority as you do. i feel like some people haven't fully internalized this.
EDIT: let's use this post for something good. if you are considering being annoying in my notes, please instead consider donating to gaza soup kitchen. thanks!

i don’t think people understand how much of life is grief. not just people dying, but losing the version of yourself you thought you’d become. grieving the city you had to leave. the friends you lost not in argument, but in silence. the summer that will never come back. the feeling that maybe you peaked at 12 when you were reading books under the covers and believing in forever

Summer has arrived, Loudly sing, Cuckoo! Seeds grow and meadows bloom And the forest springs anew, Sing, Cuckoo! The ewe bleats after the lamb, The cow lows after the calf. The bullock jumps, the stag cavorts, Merrily sing, Cuckoo! Cuckoo, cuckoo, well you sing, cuckoo; Nor will you ever stop now.
A Medieval song by an unknown English monk. He was apparently excited by summer's arrival.
Well count me in. Cavorting sounds like fun (see beetles above).
Photos from a bike ride this past Sunday on the Mon River Trail.
