Most think about Blacky as the alter-ego of the Count. But he was, like the shadow creatures, orchestrated by Herbert in his dream manipulation. So, what if this isn’t his father, but in fact the ultimate alpha-male vampire arisen out of Herbert‘s fantasy. Maybe even partly based upon the vampire who gave him the blood kiss - a powerful man the young prince once might have desired.🔥
A thought, because it seems more logical than Herbert presenting his father as an puppet, and is fitting his aesthetics. It’s also adding a lot of depth to his character, merging and revealing the reason for the sensual interactions (and sparks) between Marc and all black vampires, which have always been really explicit, especially with those long glances he gave, watching them closely.❤️
And suddenly you realize, that there is more than one huge menace in this old castle. This one probably even more so, because he is feisty, playful and totally unpredictable.😈❤️
I‘m staying with my theory, that Herbert was just a baby when his father became a vampire and bit his mother. So, taking 1617 as his year of birth, he would now be 402 years old.😱
But if we are referring to his human age, when he received the blood kiss (next topic); well, that depends and differs with the actors. For me, Marc was always the youngest Herbert ever. He possesses these amazing delicate features, youthful energy and marvelous voice. He even started to age backwards! Was he still appearing like a young man in his mid twenties in Vienna, so was he in Berlin looking as young as just 20. Seriously!❤️
Look who is way to curious for their own good.🧐 And Herbert almost got his impatient, pretty hands on Alfred to show him around.❤️ I just really would have loved to hear more of his singing.😔 This was Anton his Dernière (24.03.2012) and Flo dismissed him with what still should be the longest „befreien“ ever - of 21 seconds. You will find the complete scene here.
The classic, mythological vampire is, as a matter of fact, impotent. Such a shocking truth at the start, isn’t it? (And there you also have the reason, why Herbert is so bored with his useless his ex-lovers.🤭) They are, nonetheless, still very se*ual beings! They just don’t differ.
When a human is getting the blood kiss, the vampire is drinking as much blood from him, as it needs for the heart to stop beating. The little of remaining blood will never again be able to cause a working blood circulation. Biologically (fictional) seen, they are magical resuscitated humans who are forever unchanging from their moments of death, with standstill body functions and constantly in need for fresh blood to stay vital. They wouldn’t die without it, but they would slowly be drained off all their vigour and fall into a deep coma.
For vampires is therefore their principal desire the feeding. The pleasure they find in it is replacing certain se*ual actions. Even though some especially smart and playful ones might have found a way to enjoy both at the same time. How could you get closer to humans, without causing unwanted attention? But their growing fangs are the only indication of arousal.
Another original fact is, that the blood kiss is enough to turn a human into a vampire. No need of blood exchange, which was the solely idea of Anne Rice in her „Vampire Chronicles“. But, it’s possible to drink from a human several times without turning him. If the vampire is careful and interrupts before the heart stops beating. In the worst case, the human would faint. How mentioned, for the real blood kiss they have to drink the full amount of blood until cardiac death sets in.
The vampire was always symbolically more an idealization of erotica and sensuality, than reproductive se*uality. It just goes beyond.
No! Try to look at it this way: Herbert got for centuries everything his spoiled little princeling heart desired. He was able to charm every men with his sweetness, and twist them around his pretty fingers, without much effort.💕 No matter if they were straight or not. Everyone who fell for him, fell hard, and it’s still visible in the ballroom how smitten they were, even still are, with him. But Alfred is from the start unaffected by his flirtation, so Herbert is getting more specific. It’s obviously the first time he is actively trying to seduce someone. He usually just had to allure them, with ease. And that’s exactly where the whole humor is coming from! He is incredible dangerous and a cunning little beast, but still has this certain air of innocence about him. Just because Herbert got the brush (well, book📕🦇) for the first time in his life, doesn’t make him a loser at all! Rather is the exception confirming the rule here.😈
How author Michael Kunze once explained, is the Count favoring especially well warded young women. On the contrary, as we can see in the ballroom, is Herbert fond of very dominant and powerful men like Casanova, Napoleon I., Louis XIV, Henry VIII., Richard III. and William Shakespeare, to name a few.😏
