I don't at all like to post about my life. But, I also want to put it out there that I'm super sorry that I kind of disappear and frequently say - yes I want to write/plot! Genuinely, I do. Then crickets from my end. It makes me feel quite guilty.

I work in mental health as a therapist (aka clinician). For context. I live in an area that has a horrible service desert. My supervisor (who is also the clinical director) has me giving therapy in two counties, one all by myself because a different agency imploded and all their staff left. My caseload is insanely high (100ish). I was also asked to provide therapy in a school one day a week. We (the clincians) are told we can say no, but that isn't true because management will then single people out and deny them other opportunities and/or look for reasons to write people up. Essentially, we're volun-told.

The culture is insanely toxic. I work 8 hour days (technically 7. 5 because I don't get paid for lunch). Recently, all reception staff quit because of how toxic management is. Anyway. I'm being scheduled to see 10-12 clients per day (was told it would be five max when I was hired lol), getting breaks and even my lunches taken away to be made to see clients. This is happening for all clinicians.

If we complain, we're written up or told that our breaks being taken away is not actually happening. I'm lucky if I get time to use the bathroom.

I see all kinds of people with all kinds of diagnoses. I hear extremely awful, horrible things all day every day. I work on call one week per month and am still expected to show up to work each day even if the phone rings at 2am.

I could leave, but I'm signed on for three years because they're paying back my student loans. I don't want to lose that because whew my debt. I also really like my job and what I do - management is just. Awful.

Because of all this, I am exhausted by the time I get home. Usually I'm catching up on progress notes usually that I didn't get done during the day because I didn't have time. I do want to write and hang out, I just am so drained that I'm like a zombie, and it's hard to make conversation when all day long I've been helping others process and heal from their experiences. If I reach out and randomly stop responding, please don't think it's because I'm not interested. I probably legit either fell asleep or work grabbed me by the throat.

As though a reflex, he reaches to pull Orion off as the datapad clamors to the ground. There's an intention to dangle him by his arms until he's granted an explanation for this behavior.

"What are you —" his hand doesn't find Orion. Rather, he's frozen by the soft press of lips to his cheek.

The touch is gone in an instant, as is Orion. The shock on his face softens; his arms fall slowly back to his sides. 'Oh to be young,' he thinks.
