Tav held herself as still as possible as Rolan’s footsteps faded away. She prayed that the dim light of the room was low enough that he hadn’t been able to see the flush that bled over her face after he’d kissed her. She’d been roused when he moved her hair and her instinct had been to keep still until she knew who was in the room with her. She had quickly identified her friend but she hadn’t had any way to know what he would do next. Her heart had been beating so loudly she was stunned he hadn’t noticed with how close he was. She sat up and placed the book she held to the side gently, always careful with what she considered Rolan’s, and pulled the blanket up to cover her inflamed face. He’d been so unbelievably tender with her, she almost didn’t recognize her friend in the man who’d been before her on the chaise.

And he was a man, she couldn’t deny that now. The skittering of her heart made it abundantly clear that she’d noticed him in that way and it threw every interaction they’d had recently into a new light. Every brush of his hand against hers, each time he’d held her hip to steady her as he passed by, every touch felt more like a wish than an accident and she wasn’t sure it was only him wishing. She curled into herself and thought of the last time she’d caught him staring at her. His watchful eye had felt stern then as he’d followed her meandering path around his store, but now she wondered if it wasn’t just the intensity of his gaze that made it feel that way. Had he been keeping an eye on her or had he been simply observing, appreciating, desiring? Her face reddened further, the heat radiating from her cheeks embarrassing and it only made her more glad to be alone right now. The thought of him seeing her as an object of desire opened her up to see him the same way and gods how had she been so stupid. He was stunning, there was no other word for it. Everything from his posture to his voice to, unfortunately, his attitude was appealing and she knew she was in trouble. How would she face him in the morning? How could she speak to him without this newfound but also apparently long-standing want of him spilling forth from her lips? The only thing she could think of was to press her lips to his as soon as she saw him and that was worse! She was doomed, there was nothing for it.

She laid back down and brought the blanket up over her head, curling into a miserable ball of girlish want. Eventually, Tav slept and when she did she dreamt of Rolan’s hand on her cheek as his other arm wrapped around her back, holding her to him as he pressed his lips to hers rather than her forehead this time.

Ranger 🏹 anon here once again, hi helloo!

I took a small break from bg3 and have now returned to it (finally doing my durge play through) and with it so have my endless ideas. This is mostly directed at Zevlor because he took the role of the protector of those tiefling refugees, so I imagine he'd have the biggest reaction to it.

How would the boys react to knowing that Durge killed Alfira? Going with the idea that the Durge truly feels awful (good ending durge) and fully blames themselves for what happened.

As said, Zevlor would feel the worst. Suddenly being told that his beloved not only had these dark urges clawing at their very being, but for them to have killed one of those he had once sworn to protect?

Whether or not it's known yet that Durge is a bhalspawn, Zevlor will lash out (like at the gate in act 1), only for it to die down in an instant he sees the genuine remorse and acceptance to his anger from Durge. Zevlor will demand an explanation, he needs it.

And further they go along, he'll forgive, eventually. And by gods he's going to help Durge get rid of those thoughts.

Rolan I sadly don't see reacting much, given he wasn't that close to the other refugees in the first place, he will be put off, concerned for Lia and Cal's safety, but willing to help.

Dammon on the other hand, he isn't an adventurer, a fighter. He for the most part is an normal citizen, and knowing what truly happened to the bard by the hands of Durge might just be a deal breaker.

Of course it depends on how devoted and loyal you headcanon each of them.

My apologies if some of these make no sense, I am, thanks to the lovely game, sleep deprived.

Hi Ranger anon, sorry for letting this rot in my inbox for forever while I took a break from the blog (and most of my hobbies lol).

I've actually never done a durge play through bc I'm too much of a wuss to hurt fictional characters so I don't feel like I can write a huge amount about this one, I will give a simple version of my thoughts though.

Zevlor is no stranger to killing, though for him it has always been on the battlefield. While he can convince himself that he kills for a good cause, this would shake him. I don't think he'd let the durge around the rest of the refugees after this when they travel no matter how much he likes them. The tieflings depend on him to keep them safe. He would, however, reconnect with durge in Baldurs gate and help them conquer their dark urges.

Rolan would be a mixed bag. He doesn't care about Alfira, sorry not sorry. He does care for Cal and Lia though, and he wouldn't let them near durge alone after this. The wizard fully believes going to Baldurs Gate and training under Lorroakan will make him the greatest wizard, and he promises to use what he learns to help durge.

Dammon would break things off lmao, no doubt about it. Man is scarred from his time in the hells and the things he's seen. I feel like a part of him is scared about how much he loves the power that comes with infernal blacksmithing despite the darkness that comes with it. Given that, I can't see him being willing to associate with someone he thinks might pull him ever closer to the darkness he already feels he's harbouring.

Rolan crept though one of the towers smaller, more subject focused libraries, walking lightly to avoid making any unnecessary noise. As he made his way through the room, he put the books he had taken out for study earlier in the day back in their respective places.

He returned the last book to its proper place in one of the bookcases in the back of the room. As Rolan went to leave, he passed a chaise tucked away off to the side, the soft glow of the magically lit sconces flickering pleasingly and casting delicate shadows on the stone walls and across the figure laying there, the book she’d presumably been reading as she fell asleep held open against her chest by the hand resting atop it. With each breath, he watched the book rise and fall with her, taking just a moment to preserve how at peace she looked, how much younger she seemed without the weight of the worlds expectations and problems upon her, even if just for a moment.

He sat on the edge of the chaise, perching himself just beside her legs. He reached out and brushed the hair that had fallen across her face away. He couldn’t believe how quickly she’d gotten under his skin, how soon he’d gotten used to the fact that she’d be there. He yearned for her, a phrase he hadn’t understood until recently and one he almost wished he still didn’t. Only almost, he found he could never truly regret anything about meeting her.He leaned forward and placed a soft kiss on her forehead, lingering much longer than he needed to for the gesture. He pulled back and watched her a moment more, golden eyes lingering on soft pink lips for just a second before he got up again. He left and came back to the library a moment later, a soft blanket over one arm. He covered her with the blanket, making sure no part of her is left in the cold, before making his way out again, back to his own room, to spend the night dreaming of the day he might be able to hold her freely and whenever he wanted.

I’m so sad there isn’t much solo Rolan request yet, but I am more than happy to submit one thing that hasn’t left my brain!:

We all know Rolan is a hard worker but I think that after so many years of him only worrying about Cal and Lia he sometimes forgets he has to take care of himself. Maybe some head cannons about how his significant other could help him not be so focused on his work and his reaction to someone else taking care of him for once?

Taking care of Rolan headcanons

First off, this man absolutely will not make things easy for you

We all know he's headstrong and stubborn af, even Cal and Lia can't convince him to relax

So, you need to start things off easy and be gentle with him

Small things like making tea for the both of you and bringing it to his study, or cleaning shared spaces before he gets the chance

Things you can brush off so he doesn't make a big deal out of it

Once you're done being all sneaky and working in some extra affection into his everyday life, he'll start to question other things less

He won't be as uptight about you interrupting his studies to give him a shoulder massage and coax him into bed, or insisting he eat a meal with you away from his desk

Despite that, sometimes he still needs you to be a bit stern with him

Take him by the hands and haul him away from his desk for a walk through Baldurs Gate, he needs the sunshine

Or trap him in bed with you for a little longer than he normally is

Guilt tripping him in the morning is oddly effective

He starts off huffing and puffing over it all, but deep down he knows it's good to have someone looking after him

You'll never stop him from returning the favour, though

You're in Cal and Lias boat, he'll look after the three of you whether you like it or not

Can't reach something? He'll handle it. Want food but can't be bothered cooking? Let him, he insists it's not too much trouble

I don't see tieflings getting sick often, but when he's sick it is so much more easy to look after him

A bed bound Rolan is a less argumentative Rolan

It takes him some time to get used to, but eventually, he's quite happy with the little system you both work out

Soon, when you step inside with tea he's already clearing away tomes and papers

And when you're insisting he leaves the tower with you, he quick to wrap and arm around your waist or take your hand in his

He'll never say out loud that he enjoys it, but you can tell

Simple, hearty food that makes you feel warm inside when you eat it usually because it's a little spicy

If you have a sweet tooth he's happy to bake for/with you

Just expect there to be a smaller than usual batch size for anything he makes

It's hard to tell him off with the how happy he looks snacking away on chocolate chips or cookie dough

He's a bit of a messy cook though, so expect there to be a few dishes hanging around

Dammons definitely someone you can trust to know his way around a kitchen

Zevlor

Zevlor is definitely used to campfire cooking and making food on the road

He's one of those people that's able to find food anywhere, even if it's slightly unusual edible plants

Once he settles down and starts living the quiet life he gets more into cooking and baking

Has a wide collection of different cookbooks, most of them second hand, and he uses them a lot

He feels more comfortable following the instructions that recipes provide, especially when stepping out of his comfort zone

You're his taste tester too

Expect for Zevlor to call you into the kitchen only to hold out a spoon of what he's cooking for you to try

He'll hold his hand under the spoon while feeding you, and he desperately wants to know what you think

Our lovely paladin actually ends up being a very good home cook after a bit of practice

Zevlor is real househusband material

Rolan

Rolan had to invent magic fire alarms to let him know when he's burning something

Which is every time he cooks btw

Don't even ask this man to fry you an egg, somehow he'll end up with burns on the countertop and egg on the roof

With a bit of supervision and a helping hand it's much easier to control the chaos

Like hell he's asking for help though lmao

Every time he steps foot in a kitchen Cal and Lia strong arm him into letting them help, they end up telling you to do the same if you value your house not being on fire

Rolan can, however, make things that don't involve fire or heat

He definitely makes a mean sandwich

Like the little diva he is, he also makes little cheese boards and such

Expect him to prepare them for when the two of you have little dates reading together

Wouldn't it be cool that Larian gave us a mini adventure where your companions are some of the NPCs of the game, such as Alfira or Rolan, and that gives you the possibility to have some subtle slow romance options to interact with them?

For me it would be awesome. Not to say that I would gladly give some extra money if that meant that my Tav can have some sweet moments with the fav blacksmith.

Like, I can perfectly imagine how (since the VA of Dammon does not like the idea of a romance route, affirming that once the players can "have" him he might lose his charm and mystique) during the adventure, your character is able to have some bonding moments with the NPC you choose in order to have a more deeply connection and could aim into a beautifully strong friendship or aim into the beginning of a romantic interest. But just that.

Either friendship or the beginning of "what it could be". Getting the tension and the vibes of romance but never actually getting a kiss or a more physical option.

Just let my half-elf character have a nice "no-date" with Dammon where they spend all night long talking about their interests and at some point he tries to show her how to properly hammer or do some blacksmithing stuff by helping and correcting her posture from behind. Like in Ghost.🥲

I can totally understand why Frazer doesn't want Dammon to be a love interest, and he brings up a great point with the mystery aspect, but I would love a patch or a dlc that adds more to the NPCs.

Even if we don't get romance routes (though both Rolan and Zevlor would slot perfectly into being love interests, though I digress) I would like more options to flirt and/or chat with NPC fan favourites like the tieflings (Alfira, Cal, and Lia included) and others like Rugan. Really, I just want more content for our favourites, and having Dammon and Rolan hanging around in act 3 is nice, but I'd still like to at least be able to get my first on with them instead of just having to think it in my head lol

There's honestly something so incredibly attractive about a hands on, problem solving, manly man that's also just very sweet and respectful. For an NPC that you genuinely have very little unique interactions with he's still very well rounded and human. He's also got a mad loyalty streak and I want someone that passionate about me.

If you didn't realise that you were even doing 'the tail thing' you'd definitely notice Dammon doing it back to you

And Dammon is a very confident man, he has no qualms about anyone seeing him return such a display of affection

When the two of you are together it's like you're having full conversations only through your tails

Your party members also have no idea why Karlach is always laughing at the sight and leading them away

Dammon is definitely a very happy tiefling when you take her advice and wrap your tail around his for the first time

Zevlor

He genuinely convinced himself that he's just imagining things

This poor, tired paladin is so convinced that someone like you would never see him in that light

So when you start doing the tail thing Zevlor completely ignores it at first

It doesn't matter how obvious you are, you could bend over his desk and curl it up over your back like you're in heat, and he'd still believe it's not what he thinks

And everyone can see the way you're pining for him, curling your tail up and away from your body every time he speaks

Zevlor is also mildly scandalised by how open you are with the gesture, only learning later from Karlach that you have no clue what it means

It becomes a regular thing for you two, much to the dismay of all the other tieflings around, purely because Zevlor is just slightly too embarrassed to mention it

It's only after the tiefling refugees are safe, and he's had a few drinks in him, that he'll indulge your long standing desires

Though it's only in private that he'll respond to it, his tail carefully curling and winding around your own

Rolan

The first time Rolan sees you curl your tail like that he almost chokes on what he was drinking

Your fussing over him as he coughs doesn't help the blush growing on his cheeks

Once Cal and Lia see you lift your tail while talking to Rolan it's all over for him

He has to make sure you two are absolutely alone first, but it's very apparent when he returns the gesture

Though, Rolan looks just as grumpy as always while doing it

Karlach

Karlach has few ways of showing affection to people she cares about while her body is still a walking furnace

When she sees the way your tail curls and lifts as you speak to her she's absolutely beaming

Karlach responds almost immediately, her tail mirroring your own in a clear expression of interest

The others in the group can't figure out why the two of you are animatedly moving your tails, they end up deciding it's just a normal tiefling thing

If you don't even realise what it is you're doing and question why her tail is 'like that' she'll absolutely cackle

Expect to never live it down and to always be lovingly teased over it

It becomes a regular thing for everyone on the crew to see, they do ask questions when the two of you don't do it while talking to other tieflings though

Karlach doesn't only express her interest in how her tail moves, you'll get plenty of flirting from her too

But doing the tail thing is a simple way for you two to reinforce your interest in each other until you're able to touch her

Dammon, having seen how you both interact, is hardly shocked at how quickly Karlach intertwines her tail with yours when she's able to touch others again

She's still going to do the tail thing to tease you though
