Did day 3 which was tracing over photo references to identify the muscles and visible bones then doing a drawing from that reference.
I found it initially hard in the tracing stage as I felt like I was just placing lines randomly so I went and watched some videos on simple arm anatomy and then came back to it and I found it much easier to identify muscles and bones once I knew more about them.
The video in question is Anatomy Quick Tips: Arms by Sinix Design, I also found the video, How To Simplify The Arm When You're Drawing by EmilioDekureArt useful

Day 2 of learn to draw anatomy in a 7 days with the focus on arms (tho done on the dame day I did day 1)
This day involved drawing from photo references and there's a clear improvement compared to the day one drawings from imagination but still little understanding of the anatomy I was actually drawing

Found another learn to draw in [amount of time] to do, this one's learn to draw anatomy in 7 days by marc brunet, I'm hoping doing smaller art challenges will get me back into the swing of things so I can resume the learn to draw in one year challenge.
This is day one of learn to draw anatomy in 7 days, for this week im focusing on arms then I'm going to move onto the torso for the second week, this day involved drawing the arm from imagination, I tried to do a few different angles to varying degrees of success, what I've gathered from this is I've got some basic understanding of the basic shapes of the arm (cylinders) but not how to build off them and no understanding of the shapes making the muscles of the arm and how to draw them, plus I have no clue how to draw arms in perspective

Redrawing of a drawing from 12th June 2021 (original bellow) I tried to stick as close to the original as possible but I did make a few changes

It's a long time 4 years but it's reassuring to see that I have been progressing over time

legs tutorial
a female-centric tutorial for legs <3
we start with bones.
as you can see, the femur juts out, and there's a gap between it and the iliac crest-- this forms what ppl know as "hip dips". some women don't have them.
here's some legs with different fat and muscle contents for comparison
but why are they *shaped* like that? (I hear u ask). well, muscles. muscles can Bulge or Wrap. Think of it as a garter on a thigh-- the thigh bulges, the garter wraps. the thigh then bulges gloriously around it.
here are some simplified representations of the important muscle groups in the leg.
the gracilis/abductor magnus is the "inner thigh". it bulges.
the rectus femoris is a part of the massive bulges we see on muscular legs. it's the middle one
the vastus medialis and vastus lateralis are muscles on the lower inside and outside of your thigh, and are the other bulges you see on muscular legs
the sartorius originates at the hip and wraps around the rectus femoris to terminate at the medial femur (inner knee-ish). it's the garter in this example-- it causes those bulging muscles to squish in the inner thigh.
the anterior tibialis and some other muscles wrap around the shin area.
the gastrocnemius is what we know as the calf. it's the meat of your lower leg, the bulging muscle we all think of when we think "calf"

If it's okay for me to ask, how do you draw fabric or wrinkles on clothes? I LOVE how you draw clothes, and I struggle with drawing clothes that would look realistic
Do you have any tips or tutorials?
Hope that helps! :]

Do you know about my free web based sketch app that rotates random pose references? ๐ค
It's called AdorkaStock Sketch and you can access it on desktop or mobile. It will adjust to fit your screen! On mobile you can scroll down to see the options.

There are currently just over 2,000 poses in rotation with more coming. You can change the timer, skip poses, sort with filters, or try predefined class modes.
The site is completely free and thanks to my Patrons I was recently able to remove third-party ads! If you turn off your ad blockers while using the site you will only see my own ads.
You can also make a free account which will allow you to collect a favorites list and set sketching goals.
Please check it out and use it as often as you need to for pose browsing, gesture warm ups, or long drawing sessions (just hit pause on any pose!) Hope it's super useful for you. Happy drawing! ๐จโจ

While I haven't been drawing much I have started doing more whittling
I have made two crochet hooks so far

This was my second successful one and is much better than my first successful one

My first successful attempt, I was (and kinda still am but not as much compared to my second one) it was bigger because i was worried about it breaking like my first attempt and I didn't know what I was doing I was making it up as I went along
