“Aw, weather smeather.  It might as well be sunny outside now that I’ve seen you!  I’ve been good, school has been an absolute pain…I’m glad it’s almost over with.  I can’t believe how much stuff we didn’t learn in Ylisse that everyone else already knows about!”  Actually, that was a real thorn in her side.  She let out a small sigh.  “I have about five tutors that don’t even know what to do with me.”

Cynthia smiled.  “I’ve only met Laurent myself.  He told me you and Lucy were here, but I haven’t seen her around yet.”  She took her backpack off the ground and placed it in her lap, wrapping her arms around the now wet canvas bag.  “I haven’t had much time to go looking in all honesty!  What with work and school…it feels like we’re back in Ylisse with almost no downtime!  Minus Frederick’s cruel exercise routine.”

“Anyway, how have you been?  I’m sure you’re doing much better at this school work than I am.  I think I’m going to have to continue doing school through the summer to catch up…what a cruel twist of fate.”

So Cynthia had been attending the school in that case? Morgan would have to keep that in the back of his head just in case.. maybe he’d start attending soon enough. It did sound like fun if it meant everyone else was going there, although he practically jumped up at the mention of having five tutors! Goodness, he didn’t realize Cynthia would be THAT studious!

“ Five tutors?! That’s incredible--I don’t even--you must have quite the work load to deal with day in and day out..! I daresay that’s even more than I could personally handle..! “ He’d quickly take a seat next to her as he began to listen to the situation at hand with both their comrades and herself, still a bit flabbergasted at her work load and how much she was doing. It was shocking to say the least. At the mention of school, Morgan let out an earnestly embarrassed laugh. 

“ I wont lie.. I have actually not been attending school as of present.. most of my time is studying by myself and seeing more of this city to be honest. Also.. I wasn’t quite sure how to join the school so I simply.. let things go by without realizing it. When one has immersed themselves in their room surrounded in books.. time flies without realizing it! “

They nodded at Morgan, trying to gather up as much of the candy into their pockets as they could. Which probably wasn’t that much, but it was better than nothing. They followed after Morgan, writing down on their notepad to ask him something. ‘Do you think we should clean it all up? I mean, it’s fine if we don’t but it might be for the best if we try to clean it all, right?’

“ ... Yeah we probably should. Even if we can’t eat it all it would still be a waste and a mess. Although once we’ve actually picked all of it up, the matter becomes what we do with it after. It seems wrong to give it away because that’d be stealing.. and we can’t simply eat it all because, well, look at it all, really.. “ Morgan tapped his chin in thought, looking down at all of the candies. “ Think we can get them back inside..? “

Once she had a moment to read the sign, Youmu soon discovered that she could read it as well. Which was strange since the only language she knew was Japanese. As he read it aloud, she was able to confirm that was what was on the sign. The more she thought about it the more confusing it got so it was better to just not think about it. 

“Yeah… that sounds right…” She looked around at a few of the surrounding buildings. Finding that she could also read what was written on them. At least now she didn’t have to worry about getting lost. So long as she didn’t go too far away.

“Well it’s my first time ever being out here. So I guess it makes sense for me to be a little bit curious at least. But I mean it doesn’t seem like anything bad is happening. So maybe we don’t need to be so cautious?”

“ I wouldn’t mind not holding my breath anymore. It’s safe to say I think we’re not in any immediate danger. I mean.. how dangerous could a day like this, be? “ Motioning towards the sunshine and the day before them, it really was difficult to think that something would be after them even after all of this. 

“: Well we should still at the very least explore this place a bit. Find out more. Since we are still in unknown parts, we’ve at least established that these are SAFE unknown parts. So.. lets try heading down that way. Maybe there’ll be more people like us! Or food. Food’s nice. “ There’d be a faint sound of what seemed like human interaction so it seemed like the best course of action.

It was a dreary Friday afternoon.  Class had just let out and Cynthia was perfectly content with hiding inside somewhere while waiting for the thunderstorm to let up.  She felt pretty foolish for not bringing an umbrella when she noticed it was cloudy that morning, but she thought it would blow over.  Using her backpack to cover her head, she bolted for one of the bus shelters to keep the rain away while she planned where to go next.

Shaking out her backpack, she noticed some movement out of the corner of her eye.  As she turned to look at who else was in the shelter with her, she felt a curious sense of familiarity looking at the figure reading the book.  Yeah, something about them was just…wait, was that a spell tome?

“Morgan?!”

“Morgan it is you!”  Cynthia dropped her backpack onto the ground without a second thought as she plopped down next to him to offer him a friendly side hug.  “Oh boy, I’m so happy to see you!  Now the Justice Cabal is nearly complete again.  I know Laurent said you were here, but I just never seemed to be able to find you!”

For it being nearly the start of summer, the weather really did take a rather poor turn. Morgan had wanted to go out for a bit into town for some food, but once the rain clouds started to roll in, he had to bolt to one of the bus stops and wait underneath the cover for one of those vehicles to take him back home. It was a shame too, since he thought he could’ve made it before such things would happen. At least he had a book with him, although it being a tome, it was more just reciting and practicing. 

He hadn’t even realized someone else had come up next to him. He passed it off as a stranger until he heard his name. Within the span of a second, there was the shock and surprise of being called out, followed by being hugged, and then RECOGNIZING who it was! That having been Cynthia, Morgan was quick to awkwardly throw his arms right back around her. 

“ Cynthia?! I wasn’t even aware that was you next to me, you almost slipped by me! That would’ve been rather impertinent of me but I wasn’t even told of you being in the city! “ He let out a happy laugh as the two reunited, him finally being at a decent angle to hold her back. 

“ Well it’s the gods own luck we found each other! Although the weather doesn’t seem to particularly agree with us, I’m glad to see you in good health! How’ve you been thus far?! I haven’t been able to meet with many others as of late! “

“What… are you doing..?” Lillie wasn’t sure if this was ‘normal’ from wherever the person came from, but the girl was certainly concerned (or maybe weirded out) and she couldn’t be helped but walk nearer to the other and maybe offered help to him if he needs so..? But if it’s something strange, she’ll be getting out of here. 

“If you need help, I can try but…” she wanted to add that she’ll be leaving if it’s anything too weird but she kept her small mouth shut instead.

“ No no, leave me be! I need to remember something rather important..! “ Propped up against a wall of a building, Morgan had VERY CAREFULLY placed himself upside down and was now balancing on both his hands and his head. It looked rather silly, given he was wearing a rather heavy robe that was now falling all over him. How she could even see his face was a wonder, really. 

“ I had to do something today.. but I can’t quite remember.. so I need to get blood into my head.. feeling dizzy.. might be a good sign..! “  He might pass out soon but that probably was a non-issue.

While Hajime knew they couldn’t have possibly been searching for the binoculars for more than an hour, he couldn’t help but feel like their search had been a long and tiring one. It was very likely that his highly energized companion was to blame for how fatigue he was feeling, but he decided not to comment on it. Exhausting or not, Hajime didn’t want to put a damper on Morgan’s mood by being his usual grumpy self.

“The price tag says that they go for 1000 stardust. That’s surprisingly cheap for binoculars.”

Such a big number might seem a lot to those who were used to using euros and dollars are their currency, but to Hajime who had been paying in yen all his life 1000 stardust didn’t seem like a big or unreasonable number at all.  

“I haven’t seen any mountains around Stella City, but I’m sure you could go birdwatching at Wonderland Woods with those binoculars.” Now that Hajime thought of it, wasn’t Stella City surprisingly flat? There were little to no hills to speak of, let alone mountains. “Hmm…..”

“ ... I don’t know what star dust is. “ Quite frankly, to Morgan, Hajime was speaking nonsense. The only currency he knew of was buillon so that made for a rather uh.. unique conversation about currency. If he spoke like that Morgan would get it, but for the time being, he stood there, confused as to what he meant, flipping around and playing with the binoculars.

“ I wouldn’t worry much about those. If you don’t know where they are I’ll find them easy! I’m pretty good at that sometimes, plus it’s unheard of a land to have no mountains or the like. So rest assured, I can find my way around eventually. “

“ But. I still don’t know what stardust is. “

☽ It was unexpectedly hot already, huh?

Maybe it was getting increasingly closer to the summer months, but that didn’t mean the heat couldn’t be a pain still. And right now he was seriously getting parched, so thank god for the vending machine he stumbled across, right? Even though some of these choices are actually pretty unfamiliar… at least it has water. That’s probably the best choice in a time like this, so Kuro inserts the coins into the machine and presses the water button–except two come tumbling down instead of one. What the hell, wasn’t he just having some utterly bad luck not that long ago? Whatever, he’s not going to complain, he’ll take them both. Though he doesn’t really need two, so–oh, wait, hey. There’s somebody else nearby who’s looking like they’re in some serious need of water. That solves the problem easily.

“Oi,” He wanders over to the stranger, a water in each hand, though one of them’s raised higher and he’s sort of waving it around to get the boy’s attention. “You look like you’re needin’ somethin’ to drink. Want one? You don’t need to worry ‘bout payin’ me back or anythin’, just take it.”

If not for such attachment to the robes his mother gave him, Morgan might’ve opted to take them off. However, that would be his downfall, as the days got hotter, it got increasingly difficult to try and roam around the city. With needing to stop for water every so often and needing to just sit in a store with conditioning, he THOUGHT about leaving the robes home one day.. but kept against it every time. Thankfully in luck for him, someone was handing around free water.

... Although this seemed too good to be true to be perfectly honest. At his weakest, in need of assistance and there just so happened to be someone? He’d take the bottle and inspect it but would look up at the stranger curiously. 

“ ... This is oddly lucky to have on hand when I need it the most.. “ He’d glance at it from a few angles.. just in case there was something..

Bowing his head in firm, gentle agreement, Laurent spoke aloud: “I am…qu-quite relieved to have been wrong on my worry that nobody else was here as well, to be perfectly honest, Morgan - to see any of you safe and sound despite the peculiar realm we find ourselves in is a great concern off my shoulders as well. Have you already met up with Lucina here as well, or am I the first you have found?”

If Morgan did not know of Lucina being here as well, he felt as if it would be the kindly thing to do, to pass that information on. Goodness, he knew he himself had been very happy to learn Lucina was here, surely Morgan would appreciate it as well. Though hearing he’d been here quite some time made the mage’s brows worry in evident concern.

He hoped his friend hadn’t felt alone, but he didn’t ask - in case it was a sensitive subject. He knew he didn’t like being alone, himself. He firmly promised himself that he wouldn’t allow his friends to feel lonely here, either. “I am glad to hear you have adjusted well, the strange things of this realm are certainly quite peculiar magic, are they not…? I do not think I will ever truly fully get used to them.”

Shaking his head in bewilderment, he said: “Actually, I do have…one question. What other of our friends are here as well, other than yourself and Lucina…?”

Wait, Lucina was here as well? Laurent could practically see his eyes bulge out in surprise at that. What proceeded was a very loud ‘WHAT’ coming from Morgan’s noise that got them a second scolding and a warning that any further noise would have them BOTH removed from the library. From that point on, Morgan had attempted to speak through his fingers over his mouth but when he realized he was only sounding like a fool, simply stopped. “ I was not aware Lucina was here as well..! My gods, just how many more of us are here that I’m not aware of..?! “ He’d say in shock, looking around and counting on his fingers a bit. 

Morgan would tilt his head up when Laurent asked about the others. Thinking to himself and counting on his fingers, Morgan shook his head. He only remembered one other person here. “ I believe Inigo might still be here but I’m unsure. I’ve yet to see him in quite some time but we should count him anyways. But from what I know that might just be it.. “ 

“ So then quite the irony I see it.. you’re the second person I’ve met from our world and I’m the second you’ve met.. doesn’t quite help us in the long run, doesn’t it? “ Morgan would admit with a bit of a laugh, being mindful of his volume this time around. “ But better find someone then find no one at all, am I right? “

Hajime hadn’t seen kaleidoscope in a long time, so the sight of Morgan playing with one brought back memories. He remembered being fascinated by them as a kid. Something about the way they changed color and shape was hypnotizing. 

“It’s called a kaleidoscope. It’s not what we’re looking for, but it’s neat, isn’t it?” Hajime had a glance at the price tag from where he was standing and was himself pleasantly surprised by what he saw. “It’s only 400 stardust as well. You should get one if you like it.”

While Morgan was absorbed in the kaleidoscope, Hajime had a look at the other wares the sheep was selling. Finally their long search had come to a close because there and then Hajime spotted what they had been looking for all this time. 

“Whoa, this!” Hajime beamed as he reached for the binoculars. From the 1.000 stardust price tag as well as the plastic it was made of he could tell this was far from the equipment professionals would use, but for them it would do the job just fine. “This is what we need, Morgan. Try looking through this.”

“ Well as entertaining as it is I’m not sure how practical it is.. “ Taking one last glance in it, yep, still very pretty but confusing. “ I’m here to allow me to see beyond far distances! Not pretty colors. ... Maybe when I have a use to see pretty colors like that I’ll pick it up. “ Putting it down, he’d at least remember what it looked like just in case. 

Glancing back at Hajime pick up a pair of what looked like two kaleidoscopes taped together, he’d be quick to peek through them, amazed at just how far he could see, jumping back a bit. “ Whoa--! Yes, this is exactly what I’ve been looking for! To be able to see long distances! “ Beaming up happily at Hajime, he’d wave about the pair of plastic binoculars excitedly.

“ These ones, definitely these ones! How much are they?! I want to take them now and go looking across a lot of things! Not just oceans but mountains, too! “ Oh boy you got the poor boy riled up, now.

Though he blinked in utter surprise through (admittedly crooked) spectacles, the image of Morgan standing there - then turning his head in recognition and looking excited once he saw him - did not flicker away or fade like so many of Laurent’s ‘dreams’ of seeing his friends, only to wake up again and they were not there.

I-it really was him, wasn’t it? Nobody else but Morgan would greet him with quite that level of energy and enthusiasm, that was for sure. The other librarians shushed him, of course, but Morgan’s happiness was not one easily quashed: Laurent knew this very well from how he knew of Morgan as being a constant ray of sunshine to many of the fellow future children of Yilesse.

Dusting himself off and re-adjusting crooked spectacles, he stood and headed towards Morgan, keeping his voice soft so he didn’t get scolded next: though his relief and happiness at seeing another friend safe and well here was not something he could hide in his expression entirely.

“Yes, I am here as well - have been for about a week now. I am quite relieved to see you happy and well again, Morgan.”

“ The feeling is mutual, of course! I thought there weren’t many of us here in this city, but thankfully I was wrong. It’s great to see you in good health! “ Even after being told to keep quiet, Morgan struggled to quite keep his voice down, the excitement of seeing his friend too much for his young body to handle. He was just, incredibly happy to know that one of his friends was here and well with him! Although for only a week? He wasn’t here that long then, all things considered.

“ Well, for better or worse, I’ve been here for a bit more then that. I can’t quite count how long I have but I can guarantee it’s been more than yourself. That’s fine, though. It means I’ve adjusted to this city a bit more so that way, I can help you out where needed! Isn’t that great? “

At least to him it was. It meant any questions or queries Laurent had, Morgan could answer with.. decent accuracy. It was nice to know that he could be of help in this situation. “ Although since you already know where the library is, I assume that covers most of your questions. “

It was her first visit to Lollipop Library and Nelliel couldn’t help but wander around. Every where she turned, she found more bookshelves to salvage through, escalators on every corner for (what appeared to be) endless floors of books, & sheep endlessly working hard to restock the shelves. She was amazed at how popular the library was. So many people inhabited every floor; like if a whole city lived right in the building. 

Strolling down a random aisle, she spotted a possible worker, putting away a few books. She couldn’t help but thank whatever sent her this stroke of luck. She needed help finding a specific book, but didn’t know which bookshelf, heck, which floor, she needed to check out first.

“ Excuse me – Is there any way you could help me find a book? I’m at a bit of a… loss, you could say; on how to maneuver around in this place. ”

“ Of course! I spend most of my time here anyways so I think I’ve got a good grasp on where to find certain books. “ Did this woman confuse him for someone who worked here? Given his rather pronounced reputation for practically living in here, it didn’t surprise him that much. Honestly he might’ve even considered asking if he could really work here. Still, it seemed strange helping someone out even though he wasn’t officially employed here. But.. she did seem to have a question in regards to the library itself, or finding a book in specific.

“ What kind of book were you looking for? I know this library is a bit hard to look around at the beginning but you get used to it. “ He’d reply with a chipper smile, putting away the last of his books before giving the woman his undivided attention.

“ Now, what was it were you looking for? “

Another day at this strange realm: another day’s hard work at the library ensued. Coming here first thing when it opened to be punctual was becoming a routine that he was settling into nicely: having that sense of sameness to follow every day helped a lot in making him calm. He also felt like he knew this realm slightly better than before, so another positive from that!

Though, there was still much he did not know - and one thing in particular still worried him. Were other friends here as well? Or were Lucina and himself the only ones? He loathed the thought of any of them ever having to feel alone like he did. The problem with that was that he couldn’t be certain whether they were indeed here or not: this realm’s city was quite large, so searching it alone would be impossible.

Ah! Perhaps he could send a letter out? Everyone read the Bulletin boards, after all. Though evidently that thought was a little too gung-ho, for he wobbled on the ladder he had been standing on to put books away (mayhaps he should have had a more sturdy step-ladder instead) - then let out an alarmed shout as he fell. Thankfully, there was some cushions behind him, given he’d been stacking tomes in the children’s section, which had squashy pillows for the kids to sit and read on, so he wasn’t hurt.

Though…perhaps the fall had made him very dizzy and seeing things, for he swore he saw someone at a nearby table standing up that was very familiar. 

“M-morgan? I…is that truly you?” 

A wavering tone of emotion, but also hopefulness he wasn’t seeing things.

Given the fact it was a library, Morgan never saw much reason to raise his voice. Only at given times he’d whisper over to an assistant for help in grabbing a book off a particularly high shelf. With that in mind, there was never a point in his time there where he’d really give notice of him being there. So it was fairly easy to go unnoticed for quite some time.

This day was naturally a bit more different though. In an attempt to grab a rather interesting looking book at hand, Morgan stood tall on his tippy toes to try and grab it, struggling only a bit. With his mind so focused, it seemed like nothing would break him out of his trance. That was, until a familiar voice spoke up to him in a quiet enough manner. Turning his head, Morgan could barely believe his eyes at the sight of one of his old companions from the future, his eyes brighting up considerably. 

“ LAURENT, YOU’RE HERE TOO?! “ Of course, his reaction being so loud caused more than enough heads to turn towards Morgan who was quickly told to hush up, him letting out an embarrassed laugh and drooping his head just a bit to avoid any more stares.

“It’s a topic of philosophy involving what it means to be a person. Humans are developed from preexisting cells of their parents. I am researching pieces on what exact moment a bunch of cells is considered human.”

Congratulations, you’re talking about the process of making a human to someone born long before the days of modern medicine or science. Tilting his head curiously at the girl before him, there was a long, long bit of silence before speaking up.

“ I.. don’t. Quite know what you mean by that quite honestly... um.. I could probably explain what it means to be.. a person..? If I can.. “

He freezes. As if by instinct whenever someone asked these kinds of questions, his mouth opens – perhaps when enough people mistake him for someone voiced, it would become reality. Of course, that just wasn’t true. Fighting off the uneasy feeling in his insides, he averts his eyes, not raising them even when he finishes typing.『 aa, no, sorry, actually. .. my tongue doesn’t do very much! hahaha 』

He smiles, awkwardly. It wasn’t his fault, he knows, but – ah, it would be nice, if this kind of thing would just never happen.『 don’t worry, it wasnt important !!! at least, it’s good there aren’t actually any hawks or bears around, wwwwwww… 』

Morgan stared curiously at the device held by the individual, scribbled onto it were the words they were apparently trying to say but not doing so. Someone who didn’t talk but used something else to? Well, that explained why they weren’t making much noise. It took Morgan a second to read all what they had to say before he could properly respond. 

“ Are you sure? You seemed like you really needed my attention.. I agree that it’s good there aren’t any of those things around. Not that I’d be too worried, I could probably deal with them! I don’t have my magic but I could! Maybe. “

Well, the solutions they came up with could work, but it might just be easier to gather it up for the time being to get it out of the way. Ah, he was asking about their notepad. They nodded and wrote down in it again and held it out. ‘No, I can but I…prefer not to. It might just be easiest for us to gather it up just to get it out of the way, at least for now. I’m Frisk by the way.You are?’

“ Oh! Well, I’m Morgan. That’s fine then, as long as I understand just how you communicate that’s fine. Yeah getting.. all of this out of the way first so it doesn’t hurt anyone might be smart. Let me just.. “ And Morgan quickly bunched up the bottom portion of his robes, packing them full with candy as he began to carry them off and away. “ Just try and grab as much as you can! “
