*sighs* I want to write but I don’t actually feel like writing for the most part. Ok, that’s a lie, I just don’t feel like coming onto tumblr. 😅😅😅 Let me just transmit my intend via thoughtform. Also i’ve Just been really tired these past couple days. Like, I write one thing for someone and then i’m Just...that’s enough.

I, Luke Cage, take Danny Rand as my bro to end all broships, to be thick as thieves and close as brothers, until the end of the line and past it, I will have your back. I love you, man.

Hey all. Sorry I disappeared again. The weather’s been brain melting. Heat index of 100+ degrees and on top of that I’ve worked all weekend and won’t have a day off until Tuesday so I can barely communicate on a general level much less write lately. But I love you all and hope to find some brain power returned during my days off.

danny felt luke there, making sure he didn’t fall over any more than he already had, half surprised someone was just here actually taking care of him. it was his experience that most people wished he never left k’un lun, regardless how much good he did. were he sober, danny probably would’ve gotten sentimental and told luke how much he appreciated it, hell when he woke up and saw these videos he’d probably send luke something just to say thanks for preventing too many injuries.
he blinked several times, trying to focus his eyes that seemed like they’d forgotten how to work, trying to walk straight without luke’s help to the door, he was an adult after all. “ maybe, but everyone else does too, so just add my name to the list. ” what a time to get real, though were he sober he probably wouldn’t have admitted it. “ weren’t allowed to drink in k’un lun, alcohol dulls the senses and reflexes, makes a warrior into a bumbling idiot. only ever had some wine that we found in town once… with davos. ” truth be told, the ribbing he was getting was nothing compared to the fact that danny didn’t actually have a license, if only luke knew the half of what danny got away with on his name alone. “ think i’d bring a car like that here? you guys recommended this bar, i’d probably bottom out on every pot hole and return to find my tires gone and the car on cinder blocks. ” probably a little harsh. while it wasn’t the cleanest neighborhood, it certainly isn’t a place you find the heir to the rand fortune drinking.
Truth be told, he agreed with Danny’s little secret Chinese mysticism club (that may or may not actually exist, but that was just Luke’s skepticism gnawing in the back of his mind), and that was why he only rarely drank. Not to mention it didn’t do much for him since weird science had transformed him. Sometimes he missed it, but honestly, he was glad. He’d seen the trouble Jessica could get into between her vices, anger management, and extraordinary strength.
“Doesn’t make just warriors bumbling fools, believe me,” Luke used as he opened the passenger’s side door to usher Danny inside. Even not knowing about Danny’s lack of licensure, there was know way in hell Luke was letting him drive. “Don’t take it so hard, man. It’ll blow over in days. Sad fact is people expect the young and rich to act like idiots in public. If anything, it’ll be good to counteract the attention you get for punching bad guys.” After sliding in the driver’s seat, Luke put out a hand in the unspoken of request for Danny’s car key. “Speaking of that, do you think it’s too late to start wearing a mask?”

Cass didn’t really question the Michelin rating of Chinese food. Typically, if a place had stars, in any number, Cassidy probably wouldn’t be allowed in. In the state he’s in now, at least, they’d take one look at him and call the cops. I was adorable that Luke actually thought to mention it, thought he’d be picky enough to mind. He didn’t mention it, just grinned and finished his beer.
“F'yeh find a place called Xiao’s, they got great chicken lo mein,” he offered with a shrug. Pushing himself up from the dresser, he poked his way around the beds and the TV, noted the windows and how many locks there were on the door. A security chain and a deadbolt, plus the magnetic key slot out front, another thing that set this place above most labeled ‘shit holes.’
“M'gonna wash up a bit, maybe take a shower,” he stated, looking down at his clothes - stained with his own blood, someone else’s and of course a couple mystery substances. Can’t wade through shit storms on the regular and not expect to come out dirty. He didn’t have a change, though. Hardly made it worth taking a shower, but the heat might do something for his head.
At the bathroom door, he cast a wayward glance back at Luke. He almost spoke up to ask if the man would still be there when Cass came out. He thought better of it.
“Xiao’s, huh. Thanks, man, it sounds like a better bet than the rest of this hokey crap,” Luke chuckled They weren’t in the yellow pages, but when he looked them up on his phone, the site popped up now problem. Like most restaurant’s web sites, it wasn’t exactly easy to navigate. He learned a lot more than was entirely necessary before he was able to find the menu, including the fact at it was the twin sister of a location in Los Angeles.
Luke glanced up, nodding at his note that he’d be taking some time to clean up. He felt somewhat guilty that he couldn’t help in the clothing situation. Even if he’d had some extra clothes on him, there was no way in hell it would fit him. Once more, he wondered if Danny would be available at this hour. Though Cassidy was definitely still skinnier, borrowing clothes from Danny would be a shorter shot for a proper fit. While Danny would probably be awake, there was no telling if he’d be...occupied otherwise given he’d been filling in a few extra roles since Murdock’s death. A shame. Maybe if this place was pick up only, he’d see if he could find any late night shop with cheap clothes emblazoned with touristy slogans.
After ordering (unfortunately for Cass, they indeed delivered), he sighed while he listened to the shower water patter against cheap tile. He really didn’t know what to do after this. Certainly, he meant to keep his word, but he was conflicted because he really didn’t know the score and it certainly wouldn’t be the first time his good nature had been taken advantage of, not would it be the last time it had bitten him in the ass.

Ok, so I’m going to go through my drafts ad see what’s staying and what’s going. I know its been a really long time and I would prefer new threads over trying to revive interest in old ones. So I guess you can also consider this a starter call, too.

Ok! So fair warning, there are heavy heavy spoilers for the second season of Luke Cage under the cut. If you don’t want these things, I invite you to blacklist the spoilers tag or not hit the cut link (or you know, scroll really, really fast if you’re on mobile). Ok, everyone settled? Great good.
For everyone who isn’t worried about spoilers, below the cut I’m laying out my main idea for a post-series plotline. Mind you, I don’t think I’ll be predicting anything, it just feels right to me.
So that ending, huh, wow. Now obviously, we can see the trajectory of where that’s going a mile away. Which --ok, fine, but I’m not going there. Not until canon forces me to. Instead, I prefer to posit this concept: Luke Cage does indeed take over Harlem’s Paradise but it’s only temporary. See, I’m not liking the vague implication (I mean, as I viewed it) of Tilda prooooobably perpetuating the Stokes rivalry with Luke. Cos like, her face when Mariah cut her out of ownership of the club, man she was pissed. Honestly, it makes sense for Mariah’s pattern of machination, as well. Now mind you, I loved the story arc of the Stokes family. Good stuff, well written, but I think for Tilda to ultimately continue the family’s legacy cheapens her character development. Instead, I’d like to imagine Luke catching up to her after the reading of Mariah’s will and making a deal with Tilda. He’d run the club, clean it up, and once it’s just...you know, a nightclub and not some crown jewel of Harlem’s criminal underworld, he gives it over to Tilda with the understanding that he’d be keeping his eye on her. You know, just in case.
Honestly? My endgame is for Luke and Danny to form Heroes for Hire because damn, I want an entire series of Danny and Luke. I really wish they’d focused on that as the culmination of the story rather than...*sighs* I get Luke’s logic. I mean, it’s been done before, though usually it’s been Matt in the times he’s been boss of the Hand or whatever. Honestly, I question it being in character for Luke, but also he did try the other ways and they didn’t work so I guess you can chalk it up to desperate measures? I guessI’m so conflicted by it because the only trajectory is down for Luke and damn, man, give the man a break. I am so sick of him getting the shit end for no other reason than for trying to do the right thing.

Ok!!! So I finished Luke Cage last night and wow wtf. That ending. I have worked out a post-series plot line tho, but like...not gonna post it just yet. Maybe later tonight or tomorrow when I can get on my computer and put it under the cut because spoilers and it’s still fresh.

“Oh….shit dude.” Kates jaw dropped as she blinked, watching Luke for a moment before she shook her head. Yeah, it was a log to digest, it had been a lot to live through, she guessed that she still was. Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes for a moment, dragged a hand down her face as she tried to figure out how in the universe she was going to explain all of this. “So…long story short. Madam Masque and my father were working together on some super evil plan…which turned out to be making clones of people…rich people, or you know rich dead people…including my mom I guess they were…using her to test it.” Kate frowned, “I don’t know what to do.”
“Cooool,” Luke drawled. Yep, definitely way above his pay grade. Now Luke was a smart man and while his interest was piqued. He idly wondered how much this connected with his own ordeal in prison, but honestly, he thought it was a better idea to get somewhere he could really made a plan on how to deal with this. This all sounded like a horror show for her, and he thought that maybe she could use a bit of a breather. “Hey -- So do we have a safe place t’go?”
