y’all, i feel like i need to remind y’all that there’s a huge difference between ignoring what’s going on, and taking a mental break because you’re exhausted with trying to keep up with the situation in the country right now. this shit is no joke and is weighing incredibly heavy on people such as myself and if you need to take a break from this and just log out, please do. please take care of yourself and don’t feel bad that you’re not keeping up with things at every second of the day.

my conservative family members have been asking me why are you passionate about this? why are you defending the rioters? why are you so okay with the rioting?

here’s the thing; i’m not. i can’t honestly say i condone the riots.

but the thing is that it doesn’t matter that i don’t condone it because i am not a poc. i’m white. it is not my place- or any other white person’s plce, for that matter -to criticize how poc are reacting to this heinous murder, okay?

white people say “i would never act like that” but we don’t have any damn idea how we would react because we don’t have to face things like police brutality. we have no idea what poc face on a day to day basis. we have no right to criticize these protests.

“just protest peacefully!” they tried that and they got tear gassed. white people protested with guns because they wanted a hair cut and no police got involved. blacks people protested against the police (peacefully, mind you) and were attacked.

we have no right to tell poc how to behave.

so my fellow white people? shut the fuck up about it.
