We are still open! We're moving at a slow pace as we get into the groove of things and get a better idea of who the core cast is going to be. But I am still so excited about this project and all the things we have planned so we'd be happy to have a new member join the mix!

hello! how much has the plot progressed? do you think it will be easy for a new member to fit in?

The plot is still very much in it's first stretch. We've only just introduced the core conflict so we're still in the introduction phase and still have many more plot drops to go. I think now is the perfect time for a new member to jump in! And from past experience I've had very good times bringing in new people a month after opening, so I'd be so happy to have you join us now!

                                 CHAPTER TWO: THE VOID CALLS

WHEN: 12:36 A.M. Monday, February 3rd, 2020

WHERE: Oculus Manor, Abingdon, England.

So far it’s been a relatively peaceful evening, despite the simmering tension. The Enigmas have settled into the guest wing of the Oculus Manor while the Oculus’ take up their old bedrooms. After a nearly silent dinner together everyone left for their respective rooms. There were some who lingered behind for quiet conversations in the lounge, kitchen, or gardens.  But for the most part, the teams went off to hide in their rooms and avoid eye contact with their estranged siblings and old-time rivals.

Sometime just past midnight, ZEPHYR was awoken by the faint sound of whistling. Not human whistling, they were sure, but the sound of air rushing to escape. After checking their window for some sort of draft, they followed the sound down the hall and upstairs to the corridor which contains the doors to the library, study, and The Headmaster’s old room. The whistling, whoosing was faint, but their ears were attuned to such a sound and they were able to follow it down the hallway. As they approached they noticed something strange, the paintings on the wall were rattling. The slightest tremor making them clack against the wood-paneled walls. Stranger still, the further they walked down the hall the more this wind tugged at their clothes and pulled them further. That was when ZEPHYR called out, thinking this was a prank; someone trying to trick them into thinking the house was haunted. They stood their ground and waited.

Awoken by the sound of ZEPHYR’s shouting, a few team members found them standing in the hallway, staring in awe at something at first invisible. Floating in the middle of the hallway, suspended in midair was a black dot. No greater than the size of a quarter, it was difficult to see among the shadows of the night. Pure, infinite blackness confined to a small circle, the teams observed it with caution. It seemed to draw everything towards it. BLITZBANG reached out towards it, but drew back when their bracelet flew off their wrist and was swallowed by the dark orb - disappearing. Though they couldn’t see it, the orb got a little bigger.

MR. MOE arrived on the scene last, and when he saw the orb, he told everyone to stand back. What it the object was, they all could tell: a black hole exactly in the spot where Harold Knox had died. His powers, which had been the reason for building the academy, could now destroy it.

THE OBJECTIVE: Identify the strange floating thing in the hallway and determine if it’s a threat.

IN CHARACTER TIMEFRAME: One night.

i'm sad im finding this group just now!! what would you say the pace of the group is like, like especially with the time between plot drops and events and such?

Don't worry there's still plenty of time and opportunity for you to join us as we're just getting started! And we'd be elated to have a new face join the team!

As an admin, and a person with a very weird work schedule, I don't really operate my rps under a set schedule. Once I get the feeling that threads from our plot drop are winding down and drawing to a close, I ask everyone in the group when they think the next plot drop should be (usually choosing between a a day or two away and a week away). I want everyone to have the time they need to finish up threads while not dawdling or dragging out plot drops that don’t need to take weeks. 

I estimate there’ll usually be a plot drop once every two weeks. It’ll be a little bit more fast paced in the beginning as we set the scene and the characters have more brief interactions, but over time I think we’ll dwell more in each scene and take our time.

hey there! is there a set order and age that the oculus characters arrived at the academy?

Hello! As far as the order of arrival, yes, the first to arrive at the academy are known as the 'core five frontrunners'. This includes Arcade, Bladebender, Starbright, Blitzbang and Trident! They were rather young and trained for the longest. Afterward, Reap showed up but didn't make it into the team until Sew joined the Academy and the two graduated together. Finally, the last to join was Charmer, who was already an adult by the time she became a part of the team.

When it comes to ages, things are still being adjusted according to the existing character's biographies and those that are still missing, aka Starbright and Blitzbang! For now, it's not 100% figured out, but the order of arrival more or less explains the gist of it.

what exactly does 'energy projection' mean in the skeletons?

It refers to the amount of energy a mutation outwardly projects. For example, a mutation like Starbright's has a high level of energy projection because of its ability to set their surroundings alight, and well, they're bright as anything when they're using it. On the opposite end, someone like Spectacle has low energy projection because it's not discernible when her mutation is active! I hope this explains it well!

Congratulations Es, you have been accepted to play the role of Spectacle.

From the moment I saw the narrative device in your bio of using both a Narrator and Eliana’s voice, I knew I loved this application, not just for the touch of an unreliable narrator that it lends to Eliana, but for the sheer creativity of the idea. Eliana’s gravitation toward people to try to find homes in them was both sweet and heartbreaking at the same time, a portrait of a child willingly playing the fool, and an adult who’s desperately devoted to them still even after they’ve all gone their separate ways. I love the way you wound the consequences of her ability into much of her life, and the long term fallout of being unable to act on something hugely important that she saw. Also? This line -- the future loves her like a blade loves a throat, like a dagger loves a familiar back -- is just incredible. We’re more than happy to have you here!
