my first solo art show has concluded! it was a really lovely experience, even if the effects of it might've been subtle.

i went and set everything up myself on monday, then it was up and open for everyone to see all week long, friday was when i did a little formal event to welcome people, and tomorrow (monday again) i'll be going to the venue to bring my paintings home.

i'm happy to finally have had a first exhibition. something to cross off my list as well as add to my portfolio!

it was a lot more lowkey than i thought it would be, but in a good way. i was so nervous, and there was absolutely no reason to be.

everyone at the venue was chill and kind to me. i had people who helped me and people who supported me. very grateful for that.

for the official exhibition day i was considering doing a speech, but decided against it. simply didn't want to. and there was music playing at the venue anyway—there was plenty happening.

what i did was light up an incense stick and talk to those who wanted to talk (mainly my friends... maybe i'll be more extraverted at my next show).

i loved seeing my friends come support me with kind words and flowers. and i loved watching people i don't know be intrigued by my art.

i received a small handful of new followers on instagram, and my exhibition tiktoks also garnered some new eyeballs.

i wish i had left an encouragement message at the exhibition, to invite people to share their thoughts and opinions. because now i barely got any feedback.

one person did reach out on instagram!

overall, i feel like weird about not knowing how my art was received (for the most part). but i really value this milestone for my career, and i had a great time!!

i was hoping that this exhibition would bring in a sale or even two, but, well, maybe in the longrun.

going to set up my exhibition tomorrow! anxious and behind on my prep work. by the time you read my next entry, my exhibition will already be done and i can't wait for that moment!!

very excited but very nervous.

i have 27 artworks ready, and gonna try to finish my 28th one by tomorrow. i really want it to be part of the exhibition but i just added a lot of oil stick onto the canvas today, and that takes a loooong time to dry. don't know why i did that.

you know how you might be behind on your tasks but you're also paralysed by the stress, so nothing gets done? yeah. i love it here.

i will have someone who's kinda a friend help me get my artworks to the venue, and then i'm on my own to set everything up—which i think will be the most chill bit actually.

not feeling very chill about anything currently, but we will get there.

my very first solo art exhibition. woohoo. i'm excited to share about it later.

oh, and this week i've only been doing prep. secured a driver. left posters around the city. bought nails, hammer, wire. signed and drove nails into all artworks.

it will all be okay. right?

in short, this week's summary can be described by one word: a n x i e t y.

reflective sundays 2#

i've only had my solo show on my mind. i have one week left to prepare, and i haven't been making fast progress. not at allll.

what i did do:

—designed posters and got them printed

—shared about the exhibition multiple times

—made a list for what i still need to do

i don't have that much left but what's left is the most overwhelming stuff.

i have the artworks ready (would be ideal if i manage to paint a few more), i've mostly dealt with the marketing aspect (gonna go leave posters around the city today and tomorrow, and that will be marketing done), and the biggest hurdle that's left is figuring out how to get to the place with my paintings as well as how to hang them up.

the venue for the exhibition is a very diy sort of club. an insanely cool place. tonight i'm gonna go and inspect their current art exhibition. so that i can figure out if i will need nails or wires or whatever else to secure my artworks to the walls.

and will need to find a driver.

moments like that make me wish i had a partner or a roommate or a best friend, so i wouldn't have to deal with everything alone.

but hey, i'm done with this and then i will probably not exhibit for quite a while. then i'll focus on selling what i have.

doing this art thing has been quite daunting, but i'm glad that in all of this i'm slowly building up an audience. my instagram and tiktok audience goes up by a few people every week, which i suppose is the goal.

the more eyeballs i have on my work, the bigger the chance that it will be successful.

so that's that. gonna go back to my art exhibition prep.
