Reg would seek solace in the countryside and at Steeple Bay in Essex where the family had a caravan. Reg and Frances would drive down for a few days solitude to be alone without the constant interruptions from Ron. Once by themselves their thoughts turned to other things more important things. They both fell madly and deeply in love. Frances was whisked away to Milan and Barcelona by Reg. Even at this early stage Reg had started proposing. He wanted marriage but she wanted to see the world. She denied his advances at least in front of her parents. But she took the holidays away from home. It was a time to forget the problems of the poor East End and time to see the sights of places like Holland and the South of France and to hear the chatter of the continent. She love it. Frances was a pretty picture compared to the rugged good looks of the former boxer. Reg treated her like she was on a pedestal and showed her the utmost respect.

A passage from a letter wrote by Elsie Shea, Reggie's mother in law & mother to his wife Frances:
"The marriage was never much of a reality. After a week's honeymoon in Athens, Reginald Kray sent her to live with his mother. For the rest of her married life, she stayed variously with her own family, alone in hotels and in flats provided for her by Kray, in hospital wards, and occasionally with women friends of the Krays on trips abroad, but never, apparently, together with Reg"

Mistakingly referring to Frances as "Bubbles", this was her sister in laws nickname.
