Bet characters as dogs??

Ok so this was an idea that came to me randomly and won’t leave me alone so I must get it out there- cause I’m having issues with some of the cast.

I’m no expert on dogs and some are more thought out than others- specifically the Timurov sisters- so if anyone has questions or comments go ahead

Anyway

Kira Timurov

Yakutian laika-poodle mix

This might sound insane but hear me out. Yakutian Laikas are herding dogs. Also sled and hunting dogs but that’s beside the point. Herding dogs are used to keep groups of other animals together, keep them away from trouble and make sure the group listens. The herd has a respect for the herding dog that leads them, since the herding dog won’t let them step out of line. Please see where I’m going with this- Kira being the president she keeps the student body in line. They may be scared of her but there’s a respect there not to mess with her. Mary even calls the student body “sheeple” at one point. Plus laikas got the blue eyes.

Now the poodle part is a bit different. Poodles are seen as high class fancy dogs. And that’s how some people have this breed groomed with elaborate styles. Kira wouldn’t have some crazy hair style but definitely dignified and kept nice. But here’s the thing with poodles, they’re not just fancy hoity toity big money dogs- they’re hunting dogs.

Which brings me to her sister.

Riri Timurov

Borzoi-poodle mix (apparently called a borzoodle which is hilarious)

I felt like the duality of poodles being seen as fancy yet at actually being bred for hunting just fit the sisters well. Kira being the facade you know, while Riri is the reality underneath the fur.

For the Borzoi part, it also plays into the regal yet hunting trait. Borzois are also known as Russian Wolfhounds. These dogs were bred to take down WOLVES. Borzois have this air of regal yet threatening that just fit Riri really well in my mind. So there’s the combination of this dog clearly being from good stock, yet something just being scary at its core. Plus Riri just gives off lanky dog vibes.

Instead of the mask Riri wears a muzzle cause yea. And for reasons I’ll address later.

Another thing added just for the sisters. They’re mixed breeds. Their not actually purebreds like many might think dogs as high and mighty as the Timurovs lineage is. Because of this, that adds an extra weight to both is trying to be better than what their “dirty” genes are. (Arkardi is the poodle if that wasn’t clear)

But on a breed level. Mixed breeds like this are dangerous. Breeders can say they will have the best temperaments from both parents but they don’t know that for a fact. Making the dogs like ticking time bomb to see how they actually are as they grow. They could be sweet or they could be reactive. This is the reason for Riri having a muzzle. Maybe she was a bit temperamental as a pup, or maybe it’s a sign that she has to obey her father’s commands. Mixed breeds are crazy unethical and at least for me are frowned upon. This is another reason I thought it fit the sisters well.

I may just be crazy idk.

Anyway these are the two I thought the most into so the others have less on them.

Dori

Rottweiler

This one is partly just on vibes. Rotties are seen as these vicious dangerous dogs but they really are just goofballs who need the time taken to keep them active and stimulated.

Runa

Pomeranian (all over cut)

I feel this speaks for itself.. Runa is a toy dog. Feisty but a lap dog that must get its way. Specifically I feel she would have a shorter cut so she would still wear all the hoodies and onesies.

Chad

Chesapeake Bay Retriever (chessie)

This is another thats mostly vibes. I don’t know how to describe it- it just makes sense in my head.

Michael

Rhodesian Ridgeback

Just a pretty loner and serious dog. Again more in vibes. Like this dog just looks like him idk.

Mary

American water spaniel

I kept getting drawn to spaniels for her, I think it’s the ears. Spaniels are seen as fancy but this breed is the on the lesser end. Spaniels are pretty feisty and can kinda turn on a dime with their mood. Reminds me of the seen when then girl bumped into Yumeko and Mary cussed her out. Again, just vibes.

Now here comes my dilemma..

Ryan and Yumeko

These two I’m having the most trouble with..

It’s hard to find a breed that fits these two.

For Ryan I was stuck between an otter hound or a chocolate lab.Both loyal dogs but I can see him as both? Idk.

For Yumeko though….i am at such a loss that girl is just a cat. Like. That’s a cat idk what to do.

If anyone has any ideas for these two please share- I was planning on drawing the Cast as these dogs so if people are interested maybe I’ll share them and redraw some scenes? We’ll see.
