so many brain animatics in which portal stan looks a little too much like filbrick. he's so ANGRY, and for different- and more valid- reasons (once again. 40 years without a stable home and now from his point of view parallel ford is keeping him from reaching his lifelong goal. i'd be upset too), but the fact is that he ends up looking and sounding a lot like his dad when that anger comes out. which is often.

the good news is he refuses to let himself lash out at the kids, he knows better than to do that- they're so young, not even 13 yet. their eyes light up when he smiles at them!!! it hurts his heart to think about getting mad at them-

but ultimately all of that anger is channeled towards parallel ford; the cause of all his problems. well, maybe not the cause, but he refuses to examine the situation further; this isn't his dimension anyway, why should he care? if nothing else ford certainly makes for a good target if stan lies to himself enough about it

which as you can imagine is not very good for ford's emotional state either

can i eat your art. please. that art is... doing something to my mind and i love it so much more than words can say. idk what it is, it's just seriously tickling my mind in the best way possible and its perfect and i can't type without devolving into AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA all the time because it's that great.

this is the first time i've drawn portal stan in show style btw. and the first accurate portrayal of his prosthetic arm! rejoice!!!!!!!!!

continuing where i left off in the tags of that last post: i really think a conversation between each of the bb guys and their ghost counterparts would be really cathartic

like. we've talked about how parallel ford and portal stan calm each other's insecurities after the dust settles. for example, portal stan wishing he'd just listened and taken that stupid journal where ford wanted him to, and then parallel ford reminding him that that wouldn't have ended well for him either

but then, imagine coming face to face with an alternate version of yourself who made that exact choice you wish you'd made years ago. and they're dead.

when they first meet ghost ford is on the verge of panicking, trying to properly utilize the first burst of energy he's had in 30 years by doing the only thing he can think of: following his brother trying to make sure he doesn't do something he shouldn't. (and let's face it, after seeing how stan reacts to finding his remains, he 100% expects him to do something he shouldn't. stanley's always been impulsive like that.)

following stan into an entirely different reality is deeply disorienting- and of course it's a lot to process!!! three decades of total inactivity and suddenly he finds himself dimension hopping. it's a lot.

this dimension's basement looks a lot like his, minus the blood embedded in the floor and walls, of course... but fundamentally it's the same basement. the first thing he notices is the trembling shape of two people's silhouettes intertwined in a tight hug. it's hard to see, what with the bad lighting (and, you know, his singular working eye), but from the wild hair ford can tell that the misshapen lump contains his brother and... another version of himself???

he catches himself overthinking and, through gritted teeth, promises himself he'll unpack that later; he's still getting his bearings and processing his environment. standing somewhat behind them are what look like two children, not older than 12 or 13. they're on the verge of tears, but look relieved nonetheless.

before ford can start to question what this means, the most awful scent of smoke starts to engulf his senses. he winces. it's... still better than the lasting smell of rot in his own basement, but it overwhelms him nonetheless. it's a reminder of how his last conversation with stan went, and an unwelcome one at that.

as he surveys the room for a source, he suddenly locks his gaze with someone who looks a lot like him. he brushes his unkempt hair out of his eyes (tired, tired eyes; ones that have worked 30 years past their expiration date) to look at ford with a horrified look of realization.
