In the game’s Shin Teikoku arc the meteorite brainwashing is more literal because Genda and Sakuma had a moment where they were snapped of it. Where in the anime the meteorite’s influence was presented as negative feelings being amplified and making the characters unreliable narrators; because their words and feelings are still Theirs but turned into extreme.

Another main difference is that in the game Sakuma and Genda were initially kidnapped when they were investigating Shin Teikoku in Ehime instead of Fudou visiting them in the hospital. The game also made it more explicit that “the man” Fudou wanted to impress was Kira father because they showed the Aliea bald goons and stuff.

I want to compare Sakuma’s rant @ Kidou but the playthrough I use is the English localization and idk if there was a context they changed from the original Japanese text so I can’t be sure, but in the game he did the reveal during that off brainwashing moment of clarity.

The game and anime were written together rather than the anime being adapted from the game, and personally I prefer the anime’s writing of Kidou arc a lot more. I don’t think it’s bad in the game but it’s definitely more straightforward in its handling compared to the anime. Tho it’s also because I love Sakuma and Sakuma is much much much better written in the anime lmao.

That being said I still encourage people to check on the games to for the game only details, like I really like this scene of Someoka.

Actual biased and credible opinion now that I watched playthrough of Shin Teikoku and Team K arc that none of Sakuma scenes that we all know in anime FFI arc happened in the game and I'm still mindblown

Both arcs happened very differently between two medias so I recommend checking them both as I can't list them all; but in the game Emperor Penguin no.3 was 90% created by Fudou who made Kidou unknowingly practice it while they were arguing instead of the hisatsu being Kidou Fudou and Sakuma's group effort. In the game Sakuma just joins in..... LOL

With the game and anime written at the same time by different writer teams and Sakuma's lack of characterization in the game I'm guessing the Sakuma people know whom is his anime counterpart happened because anime writers liked him a lot

This is rather biased opinion and not very credible as i haven’t even started the kidou arc in the games, but i can’t help but think sakuma is a lot more interesting in the anime characterization than game’s even if they both follow the same “seeing kidou in healthier light” development. Sakuma’s game counterpart plays the follower part of his writing a lot more with him addressing kidou in japanese polite speech in first and second game, and he’s calmer in the game from what i’ve seen so far…

Like i find anime!Sakuma more emotional and (post development) confrontational personality more interesting because of the contrast between his raw emotions and his serious side? Like how he jumps on fudou whenever it seems like fudou is pushing kidou’s buttons or showing that he might endanger kidou. And interestingly being confrontational (aka being openly angrier) ACTUALLY works in anime!sakuma’s favor plot-wise as by opening up about his resentment towards kidou in shin teikoku arc, in the “I HATE YOU!!!!!!!!” Way helped him process things; and him asserting himself also worked for both kidou and fudou in team K arc too…

But that being said i do really like how sakuma of the games went from addressing kidou “kidou-san” to just “kidou” between second and third game… i will still try the games when im finally not busy though. And i just realized i could just watch playthroughs… yes i will analyze game!sakuma too sooner or later

current fan creation landscape is kinda like if you went to a party with a homemade cake and everyone takes a slice and silently thumbs up at you with no attempt to start a conversation except for occasionally some guy sits in the corner with a tape recorder critiquing the cake as though he was a restaurant critic and another guy is handing the cake to an uber driver like "yeah i need you to find a restaurant that makes cake like this so i can have more of it" and the only person that's talked to you in 30 minutes is a very sweet little guy who was like "hey i liked your cake" and then ran away apologizing for bothering you the moment you said thank you.

might be a bit of a stretch and an over-analysis, but i like how fudou in the anime does not have any solo hissatsu techniques and instead always does combination hissatsus. i also love the fact that even if he acted antagonistic towards inazuma japan at the start of the FFI and he seemed like he didn't give a shit about his teammates, you have to give it to him that he cares enough to know everyone's best and weak points to be able to utilize them efficiently in a game plan (maybe an over-analysis: but i like to think that at first he only ever cared about winning, but slowly he started to care about the team [exhibit a: his reaction to tobitaka after he gets fired up]) as much as fudou wants to make himself the lone wolf, deep down he's someone who likes to be in a pack.

one of the many inazuma eleven fandom opinions that always get me shaking my head is every time someone says the girls are nothingburger when the series actually treat the girls better than the average shonen series. at least until ares era that is

because people say the girls are rather "one-note" or not having much going on, like they do?? they have something going on?? yeah they might not have the most complex personalities (like many of the male side characters really) but the series show them having 1) active roles and dynamics with the boys, 2) their own focus episodes, and 3) GO shows them following their own path and aspirations. and that's without talking about Aki having her own side-plot with Ichinose and Domon and her being the first member of the team when Endou formed the soccer club

not saying that there's no criticism that could be said because i think it sucks the show likes to joke about natsumi being a cordon bleugh chef a bit too much. but if one puts more attention they could see that this girl grew up rich and aloof but she chose to live with endou after they're married. there are also mentions that she was involved with resistance and Chrono Stone game said that she became Raimon's headmaster post Holy Road

i'm sure that this opinion people have hinges on the "this woman character have to be complex for me to be interested of her" and "this woman has to girlboss her way for her to be good" both of which might say something about how people interact with woman characters in fiction (internalized misogyny); when a character doesn't need to have 100 onion layers to be good they just have to be human!! and it's especially egregious if their ina11 fave is a male side / minor character like if you can cornplate single lines and frames of your blorbo surely you can rewatch the show and put more attention to the girls
