do you go through a bunch of drafts, outlines, and revisions ✍️ or just kinda power through/stream of consciousness?

who are your prose/style influences?

and what do you usually write in —

google docs, word, notes app, handwritten…

or like, Ice King-style diary entries 📖 and Betty’s spiral notebook scribbles 🌀

IT'S OK if there's one thing I love talking about it's dogsled. this is so long-winded and probably makes sense to no one but me

it's google docs spectral font, I've written in it for years and have no intention of ever using anything else cause it's satisfying as fuck

it depends, I try to write a narrative as linear as I can for the sake of flow and buildup, but sometimes I just write scenes as they come to me and as I am inspired to write them. I have a terrible little outline in a separate doc with a numbered list of things I need to change/add/pay attention to at the point where the story gets too long to just write my outline/notes/realizations directly into the main doc it kinda looks like this (a current bit of this from the weird and horrible sequel I've been working on for a few months)

and I just get to the points as I am able, sometimes they sit here much longer than they should and sometimes they stay forever until I'm done, depending on the nature of the point

I guess in writing it I'd been reading the gothic stories of Angela Carter (The Erl-King and The Bloody Chamber are probably the most similar ones I can think of in theme, though I'll never achieve her style and rich storytelling), and when I'm writing Dogsled Simon as I call him, I feel that I draw (in a style with a little more conventionality) from the old beat poets, I like seeing his intellectualism marred by his own disillusionment, schizophrenia and drug-allegory pain through this kinda jilted, sometimes nonsensical stream of thought (there are parts of Keorac's Tristessa that ruin me in the way I could only hope to write him in the midst of his downfall) (one of my favorite obsessions is the conceptual interlude between Simon Petrikov and the Winter King as he appears in canon, but that's a different story)

I use google docs just cause I always have, I use the app sometimes on my phone if I'm writing as I travel/on my work commute or in bed or wherever else I wouldn't have my laptop on me and need to write. I'll write passages or take notes around my drawings, too, and transcribe them in time.

I didn't have a phone for a little while, resulting in some of the most nonsensical clusters of notes taken on trains and buses that would baffle anyone in my life that doesn't intimately know dogsled lol.

so like, yeah I'm basically ice king. I just need to start taking more notes on news clippings and polaroids.

(some recent examples of this + therefore little sneak peeks of aforementioned weird and horrible sequel)

I don't think I've ever really considered how kind it is. You were a wonderful experience Telling him she did have a world ourside him, that he was a part of it, maybe even her favorite part of it, but still just part. (yes I was 12 theorizing about how finn was gonna lose his arm and yes I was the first simon simp in the world to ever exist I didn't know how to draw hands yet but i knew i wanted him.)
