ce President Yemi Osinbajo has shared an inspiring story which is trending of how diligence and hardwork paved the way for a junior typist identified as Adereni to become an adviser to Hon. Bola Ajibola, who became a judge of the World Court. He added that Adereni later got him a car as a show of gratitude.
The law professor shared this at the 10th Convocation ceremony of Lead University, Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital held on Thursday, November 9.
‘University Degree Not Enough To Be Successful’ – Osinbajo
He also shared it on his Facebook and Twitter accounts and it has gone viral gathering lots of shares and retweets.
Read the story below;
While I was teaching at the University of Lagos, as a young lecturer, in the department of Public Law in the Faculty of Law, there were 3 typists in the department. The chief typist, senior typist, and the junior typist. Because in those days before laptops and personal computers, typists in universities had to do a lot of work and they were very important because you always needed to type all your materials.
When there was work to do, what l discovered was that the chief typist would disappear. He works only till 4 pm. The senior typist would be nowhere to be found. But a gentleman called Adereni the junior typist, who only had his school certificate, was remarkably hardworking. Sometimes I would drop him off at his home at 1am.
Years after I was working as an adviser to the then Attorney-General of the Federation Hon. Bola Ajibola, who later became a judge of the World Court. While in the court at The Hague, in the Netherlands, one day he called me and asked if I could recommend a good secretary who is hard working and could do long judgments. I had three options, chief typist, senior or this junior typist, but the junior typist at a time had only school certificate, he didn’t have any other qualification but l choose him. He got to the Hague, and typically worked hard and diligently. Every judge in the court wanted him to work with them. He later moved his family over to the Hague and got degrees and made a good living for himself. One day he remembered me and actually sent me a car.

Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has explained why he told popular blogger, Linda Ikeji, to forget about marriage.
Recall that the blogger broke the news of her pregnancy early this week and it has generated comments on various platforms.
Posting from his Instagram handle @areafada1, Charly Boy said, “For those brainless cells who couldn’t grasp why I told Linda Ikeji to forget about marriage, they don’t make men like they used to. Most young men are just looking for someone to pay their bills. Linda has been burnt so many times by useless wayo men parading themselves as prospective husbands. Most good men are already taken. Most men don’t have the confidence to live with an already made woman. Most women desire a very strong man, who can take charge and take care.
“Marriage very soon will no longer be fashionable because most people can’t cope. Marriage is a good thing, if you’re lucky, but it’s not for everybody.”
He added, “One of my daughters has been a single mother after leaving a very abusive marriage. She is the best mum I know and doing well for herself. Marriage can only work for two people who understand that it is a lot of discipline and hard work. It’s not a tea party. Even some so called “Men of God” can’t hold down a marriage.
“I have managed to survive almost 40 years with the same woman — no be sey e sweet like dat. So, mumu men should go think about their lives. It takes two to tango. Leave Linda alone. Go face your life.”.

WHY WE ARE AGAINST FALZ(AKINWALE AKINYOADE DECLARES)
In an interview with Premium Times, the director of The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), Ishaq Akintola, has said the organisation would still take legal action against Folarin ‘Falz’ Falana, if he fails to withdraw his ‘This is Nigeria’ video on the expiration of the seven days ultimatum.
Mr. Akintola, a professor, gave reasons for its demands. Read excerpts from the interview below:
PT: Falz’s management team has said that it won’t pull down the video but would rather meet MURIC in court. What does your organisation have to say to this?
Akintola: We don’t need to react to that again because we’ve made our stance known. We told the world what we’ll do, we’ll go to court. Unfortunately, some Nigerians will not face the fact; they’ll not respect the rule of law.
There are people who will because they are provoked by a production, go to the street, fighting, breaking bottles, breaking windscreen. We are civilised people, we are peace-lovers, law-abiding Nigerians, people who have respect for the rule of law, we have decided to go to court and a lot of Nigerians think that it is just too much.
PT: Your ultimatum expires on June 12, do you see Falz apologising or pulling down the video before then?
Akintola: I don’t know. We don’t have a problem, we have told Falz what we’ll do, if we like, we can go to court at the end of the ultimatum, if we like, we can defer it for three or even seven years.
The video is eternal, we’re not in a hurry and there are other steps that can be taken. There is a government in this country, there is a system, if the system worked such video should not be in circulation.
There are other options we can explore. Falz is a young man, he is like my own son and I don’t have to ‘push’ him.
PT: Are you aware that another group, Muslim Against Terror has defended Falz? They say MURIC does not have an understanding of veil usage.
Akintola: Let me also tell you that we have heard about a fake, faceless group ‘Muslims Against Error’. I’m asking people in the media if they have ever heard of them before. So, it is fake, it is make-belief.
When a group just evolves suddenly, it is because some people feel anybody that is an enemy of the Muslim is our friend. That is the attitude of some people in this country.
Those who are behind Falz are the fake Muslim groups. We know the gimmicks and we are not bothered. You can see, they even issued a statement that has no signature; the name of the leader is not mentioned.
Why should the media publish rubbish? It is so irresponsible. We are challenging that group that we want names of those behind it. Muric has a name and there is no Islamic association as such. Let them come out, let us meet at a press conference where journalists will be present and see our challenge.
PT: But Falz has explained that depicting the girls in hijab was not to offend the sensibility of Muslims but it was just a representation.
Akintola: If he doesn’t want to hurt the Muslims and it is just a representation, let him say sorry that he is being misunderstood and that he is sorry if anyone is offended. That statement is enough for us. Why is it difficult to be humble?
How has Falz’s song promoted unity? It has promoted ethnicity, tribalism. It has divided Fulanis against the rest of Nigeria. If Falz portrays the Fulanis as killers what about those behind the killings in Benue State? All those who are in court over the killing of the two Bishops and members of the congregation in Benue State, there is no single fulani among them. They say the Benue state government sponsored them and their names have been published. They were in court and have been remanded in prison.
The video is one-sided, biased and is ‘prejudicial’. To clear his conscience, the best Falz could do is to apologise, if he doesn’t, he has a moral burden.
PT: On a final note, what are MURIC’s demands?
Akintola: Falz must take down the video and apologise to Muslims, whose sensibility he has hurt. He needs to really speak with real Muslims, not those who are deceiving him.

Actress Taylor Hickson sues production company over on-set disfigurement
Actress Taylor Hickson has filed a lawsuit against her latest film’s production company after she says a gruesome on-set accident resulted in her face being disfigured, costing her roles in show business.
Hickson had just turned 19 and was working on the set of the film “Ghostland” in December 2016 in Winnipeg, Manitoba when the accident happened. During one of her final days on set, she was engaged in an emotionally charged scene that forced her to pound on a glass door. The director, Paul Laugier, told the actress to pound harder and harder on the glass.
According to the lawsuit, obtained by Deadline, she asked both the director and a producer if it was safe to continue banging on the glass, to which they replied in the affirmative. The suit states that the glass eventually shattered and her head and upper body reportedly fell through the door. The result was a large gash along the left side of Hickson’s face that required about 70 stitches.
