from a purely character concept level, i think john walker really appeals to me in the same way that venom snake from metal gear solid does. what if you were just another nameless soldier. what if you were a body double of a better man. what if you were a body, and nothing more. what if you had stained your hands in blood that you could never wash away. what if you were already in hell. how far would you go for revenge. how much would you sin in the name of heaven. and in the end, if you realized it had all been for nothing, that you were never that man you were supposed to be in the first place, would you keep going, knowing it was pointless? would you have any other choice? can a weapon escape its fate? is a gun always at the mercy of the finger that pulls its trigger? hey! we created the perfect soldier! and the only perfect soldier is a dead one. so get back on the field, dead meat. it's all you'll have left after we clear the insides. keep your soul empty and your rounds full, and face death and sin in the name of an ideal that you've long since lost all faith in.
