most recent windows 11 update is wiping SSDs

there's been multiple reports of people's computers not booting properly after the windows 11 24H2 KB5063878 update due to it essentially wiping the hard drives (specifically SSDs) on computers and laptops. users have reported their SSDs aren't able to be read/recognized and unable to be seen in bios settings either.

it's safe to assume all SSDs can be potentially affected by this update, so if you haven't updated yet turn off autoupdates

the bug caused by this update is seemingly triggered by installing/moving/deleting large files (50+ gb), which as simmers is what a lot of us do very pften

if you're unsure what windows version you currently have:

go to settings > system > about (at they very bottom) > and scroll down to see the current OS version

if you do currently have windows 11 24H2:

in settings, click 'Windows update' > 'Update history' > and under 'Quality Updates' check to see if the KB5063878 update is in the list of recently installed updates

don't panic, you can uninstall this update!

while in 'Update History', scroll to the very bottom and click 'Uninstall updates', and click 'Uninstall' for 'Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB5063878)'

from there, give it some time to remove the update and after pause updates for as long as possible (5 weeks is the longest i think), but it will force an update if there's a big/official update for the fix

if you've already been affected and your computer is not starting or giving errors regarding your hard drive, i recommend visiting small pc repair shops to try data recovery as some have reported placing their SSD in an enclosure seems to work to recover the data

hopefully this is helpful is any kind of way! friendly reminder to back up your data to an external drive routinely!

I'm working hard on character refreshes for my story and honestly, I hit a HUGE roadbump.

I intended on my character being my size or a smidge shorter, being a Dwarven/Gnome adjacent race, but apparently I am hitting the nerves of a few people who hate lalafells and other short races in relationships. I didn't even finish adjusting the other characters' heights yet and got flack.

And I state for the record, 4'11" and 6' is a lovely match. My fiance and I make it work daily.

So I kinda just went back to the drawing board for now...

Writing up some romance in my story Darklight later. However, since it's first two drafts, the fantasy race and size of my lead has changed. I wanted her more elven but also short, now her height being 4'6".

That being said, her love interest #2 was changed as well. Still half dragon, but also half Bunny boi and was 6'3", while interest #1, the werewolf wolf guy, has never changed from his 6' self.

What should I do about their heights? Should I keep them the same or should at least one of them shrink as well?

I think its time I just focus on my writing and draw occasional fan art and original works.

For reference, my original works are:

"Amaranthine Journals: The Story of the Warrior of Light" over on miqobun in comic format and Ao3 in written format.

And

"Darklight: When Dragons Collide" which has yet to be reposted in written or art format. It has had art on this Tumblr before in the past and some comic work.

This may be the direction I head. I'll still work on my Sims stuff too btw. I won't abandoned my simblr. Lol

I'm not sure what to do anymore. YouTube channel is basically dead, commissions (what are those) are non existent, and I'm too anxious to leave my house for long periods of time. I would vent on my other media, except I fear losing what little followers I do have.

I just don't know what to do.

I'm even more fired up to work on my comic now! I've redrawn a few pages already so I can start fresh pages sometime this week.

I find that a good name makes your project easy to memorize and talk about. So, when I learned about .gay domains and was lucky to snag fragments.gay, I knew that the stars aligned and that I finally had no excuse to delay making my own site. I also needed a secure place for the ~hotter~ episodes (which debut in 2026 by my estimation) that I wouldn't be able to post on my regular platforms that already clutch their pearls at a male nipple.

Two other cool things: larger pages and THE STARRY CURSOR. Finally the comic can be experienced in the way I've always intended.

There are some wip elements. Comments move in mysterious ways. They DO get posted, however, you've gotta access an episode from the archive to see comments. I'm a complete beginner at this, so bear with me as I figure things out.

The third anniversary project's more you-oriented than me, now you don't have to hunt down the unwieldy long links. Fun and snappy address! No need for an account! The comic's more accessible than ever.

Oh and there's a secret that rewards those who click around and carefully scroll through things. Something you'll see in episodes 76-77, which are yet to exist at the time of posting.

3 years is nothing to sneeze at. Due to the steady comic update schedule, I'd never felt the time pass so… normally in my entire life, in fact it's grounding me in reality, I never forget what day it is anymore. My time's filled with work, but the happy and satisfying kind. I need something to keep my brain occupied, and Fragments does it rather well. Thanks for supporting such a massive endeavor.

Right, the s word- shameless plug time! But the anniversary only happens once a year, so I've gotta.
