The brunette closes her eyes as she leans her head back, soaking up the little bit of sun that had been a rarity during the winter days she'd been here. Lexi needed to get her mind of off things and process some things. Letting out a quiet sigh, the woman tries to relax a little on the bench she was on.
Her eyes crack open when she feels someone sit next to her. She raises an eyebrow and hums slightly. "Whatcha up to?"
The sun was a rare thing in December and even more rare was a quiet day in the city. Crime seemed to be a standstill and both of his jobs had been sorted for the day at both the Bugle and at the lab. He found himself at the beach, very unlike him, and on accident sat next to a stranger. “Sorry!” he said quickly standing up. “I was just looking for somewhere to sit.”

Kitty wanted to shake her head to try to relieve some of the pain and maybe snap her back into focus but that would probably make the feeling worse. She rubbed her forehead and looked steadily at the costumed vigilante. “A way to stop this.” She probably shouldn’t be telling him that much but screw it her head really hurt.
"Look, if there is a way to stop this and its in Westchester, I’ll help you but I’m going to make sure you’re okay. No offence but it looks like whatever is happening to them is happening to you so you might need a hand.” He wouldn’t let her do whatever it is alone. “Help me out a bit before we go, what can stop this?” He held out his hand for her take, getting ready to swing them both to Westchester.

Kitty’s eyes almost watered for the pain. She shakily picked herself up off the ground and looked up at Spider-man and the bus that had almost turned her into a Kitty pancake. She had to get out of here, off the street at least. “I’m fine. I’m fine.” Well okay she was a long long way to fine, not even in the same county. But she had to get to the bottom of this. Looking at the red and blue hero she took a shot. “You think you could get me to Westchester?”
"You sure?” He thought that she looked shaken but he couldn’t blame her for that and thought it completely reasonable given what was going on around them and that she was just nearly flattened. “I can try if its quick, a lot of people need help here. What’s in Westchester?”

Almost the entire city was at a standstill, people who were tasked with helping those in dire need soon found themselves crippled with the same pain. “I have but it’s taking an hour just to get through.” Alex said with a heavy sigh. He knew from the moment this happened who and what was responsible and it wasn’t going to do mutants any favor. He swore under his breath and released low-level plasma waves from his body, it caused more pain for a few seconds but the people had snapped out of it. “That can be between both us okay?” It wasn’t wise to use his mutation but there was no other choice.
"It must be worse than what we can see.” There must be total chaos going on. Something like this, they could use an Avenger or two or the Vought supes but as he looked around he couldn’t see any. They might have been busy, he was forcing himself to think that. “Understood. I heard that this is something that is happening to mutants only. Not all it seems.” He was talking about Alex having seen the low-level plasma waves but didn’t judge.

The boy was certainly skilled in a lab and great under pressure so Doctor Octavious was hiding a rare find in the world. A person willing to help and smart, Vought could always use something like this. “There’s nothing natural about this so my guess is a mutant attack.” Nathaniel hated to admit it as the more the public hated mutants, the more it interfered with his work.
Peter sighed and there was a look of pity on his face that he had for the mutants. He was persecuted by the Bugle but it didn’t even compare to what happened with the mutants. “If it is, that is wrong on so many levels and ways. I don’t get why people hate mutants so much they’d do this to them or even how.” He shook his head and went back to work. “Is this happening to all mutants do you think?”

Nathaniel needed all the help he could get, it had been a while since he had to operate on anyone and if he could help it, he would keep it that way. “Great, you’re assisting me, I need all the hands I can get.” More and more people were collapsing in pain and there just wasn’t enough hands. “For those who have already collapsed, check if they’re breathing or responsive. If not, administer CPR.” Nathaniel took out a couple of needles, all ready to sedate the worst cases. One woman came screaming, gripping her head between her hands and her screams were causing more panic. Quickly Nathaniel administered the needle and she soon went quiet.
Peter didn’t even question the doctor and just went straight to do it. There were a few people that were breathing fine but still unconscious and only a one or two that wasn’t. Once he did CPR, they seemed to be reacting the same as the others. His next move was making sure all them where safe. “Do you have any idea what this is or what is causing this? It’s happening all over. Just walking here I saw it happen to loads more people.”

Of all his time in New York, Alex hadn’t seen the Spider-Man around but whatever was going on with people, he was glad to see the spider swinging in to save the day. He missed the bus completely, distracted with the cries of others and feeling more helpless than ever. “I’m fine, the same can’t be said for the others.” He nodded to the group of people almost on the floor in pain.
Peter instantly recognised Alex but knew he couldn’t say anything now that he was Spider-Man. It would revealing his biggest secret and although he felt as if he could trust Alex, he didn’t want to reveal it. “I’ve never seen anything like this.” He swung over to the people and saw there was nothing he could do to stop it. Moving them out of the way of danger very carefully, Peter then hit the floor a few times with his webbing to create a cusion and placed their head on it and put them in a recovery position. “Have you called an ambulance?”

Jessica slid the bill under the glass screen as she waited for her ticket to be processed. Dressed how she usually did, she wore a hoodie under her leather jacket that had probably seen better days and wore the hood up, glancing around now and then to see if her paranoia of Vought was justified. The ticket being slid to her, she snatched her ticket and began to quickly make her way to the stop her coach would pull in. Walking up the steps to board, the driver suddenly slumped in his seat. “Hey, what is wrong with you?” She asked before several people boarding or on the coach were doing the same. Jessica stumbled as she clutched her head. Her time with Kilgrave and constant exposure made her mentally resistant to some powers but not immune. “What the fuck is going on?” She muttered as she looked around, people dropping likes flies.
Peter wasn’t sure where he was walking to or why but he found himself with a bit of time so went for a walk to try and think about things and what he was doing. Seeing that he ended up at a buss station, he started to walk the opposite direction but saw a few people just started convulsing or falling to the floor, unconscious. He checked in the buses and saw some things happening. “I have no idea,” he said as he looked around. “It isn’t good and seems to be random. Do you think it is some kind of an attack?”

A quick glance over her shoulder confirmed that he had joined her and it only drove her further into her plan - or the lack of - but she wasn’t stopping now. “Oh no, we’re way past talking. If he didn’t tell us the truth the first time, he won’t do it now. If Norman is anything, it’s persistent.” Unlucky for him, so was MJ. She couldn’t help her words being laced with bitterness as she stopped at the edge of the alley, her eyes narrowing slightly as they darted back to the apartment which was still washed in darkness. “Besides, it doesn’t seem like anyone is home.” A small pleased smile tugged at the corners of her lips before she finally turned to look at Peter, determination in her eyes. “Well, what are we waiting for then?”
Way past talking. That didn’t sound too good. One thing he admired about MJ was that sh was headstrong but it something that made him worry about her as well. She didn’t have the same healing or abilities he did even though he knew she could hold her own. “I’ve been trying to think what he could be hiding from us but I can’t even think. It must be something bad.” He could see the determination in her eyes and knew there was no point trying to stop her with that. “Spidey way or your way?”

open starter - event
A surge of people were suddenly either frozen on the spot or simply crying in physical pain that Nathaniel could not find any cause for. The number of people affected was enough to stop Nathaniel from doing his current work and he rushed out to help. “Instead of standing there you can help. Do you have steady hands?” His tone was harsh but direct, something that was needed in these situations.
"I do!” Peter didn’t waste time and got to helping Nathaniel. He wasn’t sure what was going on but from the looks of some of them, he thought it be a seizure. Not being a doctor, he couldn’t be sure and knew he wouldn’t be much help but still wanted to help.

Peter couldn’t believe what he was seeing. People all around just falling to the floor or going unconscious. A lot of them screamed in pain but what got him moving was seeing a bus driver do the same thing while driving. Instantly, he moved towards him, using his web slingers as best he could and eventually managed to stop the bus from going into anyone. “You okay?” he called out to the person who the bus almost hit.

Just with one look at the guy’s face, Alex knew he needed stitches but something wasn’t adding up. “Really, you have experience with wounds like these to know the difference?” Before the guy knew it, Alex already had gloves on, ready to help. “I’ve had a lot of fieldwork and more recently that’s included patching up someone so I guess I’m getting okay at it.”
"I used to be on my high schools wrestling team.” It wasn’t a lie but it was a while ago. “I’m used to seeing this kind of stuff and stitching myself up, I don’t take too long to heal and I have a high pain threshold so I don’t need any help.”

Dealing with wounds and quickly patching them up until better medical care could be provided for, at least it was like that on the field but more often than not, it felt like it was a battlefield every day. “I can image, I’ve seen the movie.” Alex smiled in what felt like forever. “You’re probably going to need stitches. If you don’t mind, I can get one of my best people on it if you don’t mind a mutant handling it.”
The idea of anyone in the army or anyone at all trying to stitch him up when he knew he wouldn’t take long to heal was a concern that he had. “Nah, it's fine. It doesn’t hurt that much and they aren’t bad enough to need stitches. You do this a lot then, fix people up?”

Gwen had never hidden her suspicion of Vought. Something about the organization would just never sit right with her and she’d keep coming back - both as Gwen Stacy and ghost - until she found out exactly what it was. No place with this much power was ever a good thing. Chatting with the supes or even Nathanial hadn’t really gotten her very far, instead, they left her with even more unanswered questions. And so today she was visiting as Ghost-Spider and praying that Homelander wasn’t going to be stalking the halls like some scary watchdog with x-ray vision. The girl froze when she heard her name but quickly relaxed, who else would possibly be this high up the side of Vought tower except for the other spider in town. “If it isn’t the Spider-Man, here to steal my thunder.” The blonde teased, pulling off her mask and knocking her hood back. “I’d guess I’m here reason you are, Parker unless you’re just out for a late-night stroll?”
"I wasn’t...c’mon Gwen this is crazy.” Not that he was in a position to say that given that he was doing pretty much the exact same thing but as always, he worried more about other peoples safety rather than his own. “Oh yeah, just a stroll up the side of one of the most famous buildings in the city. For no other reason. How about you?” Sarcasm was dripping through his words but he didn’t mean them sarcastically.

Curiosity was something this world lacked and seeing it written all over the young man’s face even if it was intruding on Nathaniel’s work. “I believe everyone has a bit of bad in them, besides some complex genetic engineering and a code that’s hard to crack, that is the protection we’ll have.” It wasn’t something new, Nathaniel had done such things on himself but the young man didn’t need to know that. “Because we can’t see reasoning is exactly why I started this research, to understand why nature dictates such a thing and it all starts with our genetic coding.”
Peter could understand why the man was so secretive about his work. A lot of people in their field could be like that, so protective over everything. “I know that, and I share that belief but it was people do with that bad in them. I just want to make sure this...whatever it is...isn’t going to benefit someone that could use it to help that bad.”

( @friendlyspiderr )
It had been another night call. Almost like out of instinct, her hand reached for her phone and she scrolled through her contacts until she stopped by ‘H’ - until Harry’s face was grinning back at her in poor quality - until she stared at it for longer than she should. He looked so much younger, so much more at ease. She had taken the photo in Central Park years ago. When they were just kids. Or at least when it was so much easier to pretend they were just that. Now it was more complicated and she hated that she hadn’t heard from him in a while. She was used to stretches of radio silence but none of them compared to this. So she dialed his number and hoped that this time it wouldn’t kick her straight to voice mail. And it didn’t. Instead, the line announced there was no more room left to record a message and a pang of guilt kicked MJ’s gut as she swung her legs off her couch, kicking into action immediately. She was getting dressed while texting the only person who would get it - the only one she trusted enough with this - Peter.
“I need to see you. It’s about Harry. Something isn’t right, Pete. I don’t think it’s been right for some time now. I’m heading to Norman’s.”
Putting the phone away, she was out of her apartment door before even properly putting on her jacket.
The lights of the city were sparkling like they did each night but it didn’t feel right. Nothing felt right these days. The world around her kept spirling and MJ felt like she twirled to its madness. And as her silhouette was blending with the shadows of the alley she stood in, her gaze was fixated on the lack of lights that would illuminate the Osborn penthouse. She didn’t know what she was doing, why she even wanted to get in there or what she expected to find. But for the longest time, she had believed Harry was too busy with work to call back, text back, reach out - but the fact that he didn’t clear his voicemail was proof enough for her that this wasn’t the case. Best case, she was wrong - worst case, she was right. Either way, she was tired of guessing. And if Harry was really busy with his father’s company, they’d have to be records of that and she needed to find them - even if she had to do it on her own - but frankly, she hoped she wouldn’t have to, even as her feet started to carry her down the alley towards the tall building.
Peter was in deep concentration with his eyes and brain solely focused on the lab work he was trying to finish and make sense of when he saw his phone buzz on the table. The phone screen showed that it was MJ and without hesitation, he pulled off his gloves and read the text. She was right. Something was right with the Harry stuff but Norman had always been so secretive when Peter tried to ask him about it. Checking the time, he saw that he’d already worked hours past his time so hung up his lab coat and left, swinging straight for Normans and MJ. It didn’t take long to spot her so so he fell into step easily. “You have a plan with this or are you just going to confront Norman? I have so many times. He just says Harry is busy with the company. We can’t just go through the front door but I should be able to Spidey my way in.”

Vought had a file on every single Supe they owned with every bit of personal information they had and if they were signed onto the military, there wouldn’t be any doubt that Vought would hand all that over. “I understand why you see it that way but we’ve done more good than the Avengers. We’ve provided hope for people during the darkest days of the snap or blip whatever you want to call it. They fixed their mistake but we’ve been saving people daily, not just when or if we ever mess up.” Vought would never have a villain in their ranks, there was too much to lose with the military bill, but that didn’t mean they didn’t have creative ways with dealing with problems. “No, but they carry enough weight. Supes don’t do things like that because we fight for humanity, from the billionaire on Wallstreet to the cleaner in Queen’s, we fight for everyone while the Avengers and mutants protect themselves and their bosses.”
"See it that way? I don’t just see it that way, it is how it is and there is no interpretation. What happened was well documented with the Accords and then the snap. Everyone knows it was Tony Stark that saved us all. If he was here, he’d have helped people adjust back but instead, he gave his life so people could have that chance.” Vought had no involvement in saving people from Thanos. “Supes do what they do because of what they get out of it. I hear that with Vought ones its all to do with money and how much you can get out of it.”
