no bc im never getting over the fact that ves pulled look to windward out of the wasteland pt iv death by water like you have to be KIDDING ME ??? phlebas dying by water ?? being a symbol/figure for the cycle of life and death and the abject truth that death is, for the most part, beyond our control ??? that death is a release of worldly concerns ???????

hi, hey, hello, this is blatant classroom wish list propaganda for next school year, but hear me out: i have a classroom for high-support needs students and next year, my classroom is basically doubling in size. it's a little wild to think about and plan for, especially as i want my classroom to be as neuro-affirming and accessible to my students as possible. a lot of my students are nonwriters and nonreaders, so i have to get incredibly creative in order to show student output and that students are learning while in my care. i have to build out a lot of my curriculum from the ground up, based on middle school level standards and make them attainable for my students who are not at a middle school grade-level instructional level, all while collecting continuous data on not only their academics, but behavior and life skills as well. and on top of all that, my students are also tested in the following areas according to state alternative testing: ela, math, social studies, and science. i have to hit grade-level essential standards for three different grade levels to make sure my kids are prepared for their testing that happens twice a year.
if you've ever thought, "hey, i would like to support this person in fandom," or "if deerie wrote a book, i'd buy it," or just have a soft spot in your heart for students who need a lot more support than your average student, please consider taking a look at my classroom wish list for next school year. i've added notes to each of the items describing what they would be used for in the classroom. some items are definitely just for fun -- activities to do during indoor recess, a much needed sensory break in the middle of the day -- and some things are definitely just aesthetic items -- bulletin board materials, fun-colored drawer carts -- but a lot of the items are either items we use daily, academic items, or items to organize and set up work systems in the classroom.
and if you feel called to help out my classroom, but can't access the amazon wish list for whatever reason, i also have a paypal account -- please dm me for the information. even just reblogging this post would help a ton.
okay, bye, love ya bunches.

i absolutely adore the interpretation that even in arcadia (the track) is the actual starting point of the album with the way infinite baths links back to look to windward. And with LTW being track 1 we're pushed into the album in medias res which serves to fully cement the idea of the never ending cycle and that the house must endure.

Music Release: Calcutta, 2017
On May 20 2017, the first single of the Sleep Token collective's second EP, titled Two, was released. The full EP would be released July 21 2017.
Tumblr media
The word that appears on the cover, কলকাতা, is Bengali for Calcutta, or "Kolkata".
There was a traditional music video released by Basick Records. It is one of the rare Sleep Token songs to have officially provided lyrics.

Im gonna need to be real with yall for a sec, as your too woke friend. Saying that Vessel’s lyricism is somehow “better” than other rap/hip hop artists who devote their lives to the craft and the art style on the grounds that Vessel is waxing poetic about pain and rappers are glamorizing street violence, money and bitches is liable to get you whacked upside the head for being a donkey.
Let me be very fucking clear. The genres that Sleep Token take a big chunk of inspiration from are Black genres. The Summoning outro? That’s a funk breakdown. Aqua Regia? Jazz. Emergence? Hip hop. Caramel? Reggeton. II’s linear sticking and Vess’ soaring vocals? Gospel.
Ol’ boy is even playing with fire with the body paint to be h. This whole discussion about “genre-less this” and “genre-less that” is being obtuse. What they have is a genre-blind approach. Arguably, extracting meaning from those genres to paint pictures with what they got. It’s cool, to see music as a grammar that you can rearrange to say what you want. But it’s still extraction because last I checked the homeboys are palm coloured. The equivalent of saying that hip hop glamorizes violence and drugs is metal is devil worship. It’s one thing to not know; that’s workable. But to be comfortable in superficial assumptions about a whole genre? Be so fucking forreal.
