YES!!!!!! I love putting those two through the wringer. I have a LOT to say about heromari in my au along with how the Baker Twins are involved.

Hero wants to pick up his relationship with Mari where they left it. He’s desperate for things to go back to how they were. He does have genuine feelings for Bowen but never truly moved on from Mari. He tried to get her outside and help the others after Aubrey died but he only last about half a year due to his own unaddressed grief.

In response, Hero began to ignore his issues. This especially impacted Kel as Hero's guilt of being unable to help his little brother the first time made it difficult for him to keep up the facade.

This avoidant attachment style led to him forming numerous, but shallow, relationships in community college. He received the moniker ‘party king Hero’ due to his frequent ragers. He became known as the spontaneous flirt with commitment issues, never going farther than one night stands (this is also partially due to him being demiromantic). He currently has an on again off again relationship with Bowen. 

No one was surprised when Hero suddenly dropped out of college and returned to Faraway, claiming he wanted to ‘expand his horizons’ and see what the rest of the world has to offer. In truth, he wanted to distance himself from his hometown and any reminders of it as much as possible, as even in college he still felt trapped by his grief. 

When Mari comes outside Daphne latches onto her out of affection but also out of loneliness. Neither of the twins have friends their age and subconsciously feel trapped by their parent’s expectation for them to continue running the bakery rather than going to college. Daphne feels comfortable around Mari and is more outgoing and opinionated around her. Mari provides Daphne with something to focus on other than herself, and Daphne believes she will never truly have a future with Mari, so lets herself enjoy this fantasy until Mari moves away.

Bowen has obvious feelings for Hero but also latent feelings for Mari he isn’t ready to unpack. This is partially because he's projecting some of his resentment towards Hero crawling back to Mari as soon as she came outside despite them no longer dating. But also because Mari is bi-gender and AMAB, and Bowen is a gay man, and he’s worried his attraction might be invalidating Mari's identity and his own. He’d rather suppress than go through a sexuality crisis. Again. He wants to be wanted, and feels he was nothing but a distraction for Hero as he wanted for his real love to come back.

Mari is a bit like a leaf in the wind, just going along with whatever happens. Regarding Hero, Mari resents him for not trying harder to get her outside, even though she never took any of his offers of socialization when he extended them. This bleeds into her Headspace and her dream vessel's relationship with HS!Hero.

Ofc!! I made this au back in early February of 2022 and I've been in the process of revamping it since July of last year. I even wrote a fic that I'm rewriting (I won't link it here bc it's old and BAD!!!!!!!)

I don't want to give too much away, but the basis is that it's another Omari AU on the surface except it's COOL and AWESOME because it's not just a role swap or personality swap I wanted the characters to still feel like themselves

The most I'm saying now is that Aubrey is gone and Mari doesn't remember why.
