This article: "girls have always had higher suicidal tendencies than boys... but lately these numbers have skyrocketd and we have no idea why. Today, girls rates of suicide attempts are twice as high as boys. Why, oh why do girls want to kill themselves???" You would want to kill yourself too if half of your classmates were worshiping Andrew Tate and putting their hands up your skirt between classes. Misogynistic thinking and behavior has statistically been trending up. The idea that "misogyny is old news" is a myth, and the men of today are worse than our fathers and grandfathers. Modern girls and women are being treated worse than they were 50 years ago. Women's rights are being rolled back both in government and in social settings. 1 out of 16 girls in my country are losing their virginity via rape, and those numbers are considered "low" on a global scale. We don't need "better mental health services for everyone" we need a less misogynistic world. We need real change. And in the meantime we need to arm ourselves.

Better Call Saul is a story about a man undergoing multiple identity crises, selling out his morals in order to get ahead in a world that’s always kicking him down, but in doing so destroying so much of his soul that eventually he decides to become this clownish caricature of himself not only because it’s too painful to live as his real self, but because he no longer knows who the real him actually is anymore.
Breaking Bad is a show about a man who gets cancer and then develops the worst Main Character Syndrome of all time.

Listen to Drew Afualo’s “The Comment Section” podcast episode featuring Katya Zamolodchikova. It has discussion of women in Hollywood and what aging is perceived as to them.
I'm thinking about celebrities and what psychological effect seeing their teen/early 20s self plastered everywhere as the representative of who they as a person are has on them. Imagine the dissonance of the world seeing the person that matches your name as a fit, sexy young person whose image has made millions but you look in the mirror and you're 50. That can't be mentally healthy.

every word out of guillermo del toro’s mouth is the most hardcore thing i’ve ever heard and he says it all so casually like he doesn’t even realize how much of a gothic visionary he is

the reason i love the comparison between angels and machines (robots, transmission towers, trains, computers, etc.) is that it gets to the heart of what angels essentially are: divine machines. they're mechanisms through with the divine is able to act, created with a purpose and "happy" to fulfil it simply because they were made to do so. they have more in common with a machine programmed to run on algorithms and make calculations based on input commands than they do with humanity, even if they bear a human visage - an attempt by the divine to help bridge the gap. angels do not need to be eldritch monstrosities to be terrifying, because they are already alien to us simply by being angels. for an angel to choose to deviate from their purpose and achieve free will is to fall because in order to have free will they can no longer be an angel, because an angel is defined by its purpose. much like the stories we tell of robots that gain sentence, only to discover that they can never truly be human, but neither can they go back to being a machine, angels who fall become something else entirely, purposeless and adrift and alone. it is a tragic sacrifice.

I love when I’m at work and someone asks me if we have a certain type of flower/plant and I don’t really know any of them by name so I’m just frantically searching up pictures of them on my phone as I walk through the garden area hoping that I find these little shits before someone ends up getting too impatient with me and starts yelling at me lmfao.
