Basically an upspeed song with a somewhat eerie atmosphere. It's on here that more black metal type elements come to the fore, and the clean vocals take a step back to have it's place taken by the harsher vox. Planeshift is a bit of a radical change in song-style without disrupting the flow of the album. Og'Elend is a song about drow and tells a story of some sorts it has a bit of a sinister undertone, as towards the end the overal atmosphere becomes that of betrayal and angry failure. Track 4 is a medium-paced song with an slight undertone of upbeatness. Fans of LotR might recognize some names in the titles. The album-theme is based on the books of a Russian novelist whose name escapes me at the moment he wrote several unofficial sequels to the Lord of the Rings. Apreciating this album wasn't hard for me because it sounded so different from what I expected, and even though in this day and age of folkbands galore, Rakoth remains pretty unique. So please have an open and skeptic mind when listening to these songs, and if you don't like what you hear, listen another time on a later date. I discovered this band because Aardschok metalmagazine gave it 100/100, and I've been a fan since. The problem with praising a band you like is that people will check them out and then be dissapointed, as it might not live up to expectation. I would then observe the battery voltage, as displayed by the solar charge controller, throughout the day as the solar panels charged the batteries. But I didn’t know how much actual power (amp-hours) had been ‘removed’ from the batteries. If they were closer to the 12.4-volt range, then they had a pretty good night. If my batteries were showing around 12 volts I’d know they took a good hit that night. The best way to observe the correct charge level is to observe the ‘resting’ voltage (ideally with zero load and after a few hours of no use, but this isn’t practical in RV life). With lead-acid batteries, you are not supposed to drop them below a 50% charge level for maximum life. This ‘resting’ state voltage would give me an idea of how depleted my lead-acid batteries were overnight. If you look at this screen when the solar panels are generating power, you are seeing what voltage the solar charge controller is sending to the batteries, not what voltage the batteries are at in a ‘resting’ state. I would try to do this before the sun was hitting my solar panels for a true reading of the actual battery voltage.
