Hey look I agree that the baby plot was idiotic but I feel like going around loudly talking about how much you want to kill babies isn't great. 😐 Like maybe the discussion should be more about the WRITING of the show and how that situation never should have been written to come down to that ultimatum in the first place rather than encouraging people to joke about infanticide. I really don't want to sound aggressive, I just truly feel that this isn't the way to approach this discussion. Encouraging people to be callous and uncaring about a literal BABY feels more like a VIP perspective tbh

I have free time today so I'm gonna answer again in a non-memey way

Firstly I get where anon is coming from. As a horror fans outside of SQ fandom, I've never been "sensitive" about a child character because I always see them as a fictional character with no life or feeling outside of this fantasy world and I joke about their misfortune/suffering/death the same way I joke about any adult character's fate.

Now back to anon's ask

"but I feel like going around loudly talking about how much you want to kill babies isn't great" - okay I want to make this clear that I've never 'talked loudly about wanting to kill babies' (implying real babies who aren't fictional characters). I only joked here and there about this fictional baby (not even the first fictional baby I meme about), and if anybody is out there seriously talking about how much they actually want to hurt real, random babies then they should be on the FBI watch list.

"Like maybe the discussion should be more about the WRITING of the show and how that situation never should have been written to come down to that ultimatum in the first place" - the (serious) discussing I make is ALWAYS about the writing, NOT "oh dear Gihun should have thrown that baby" because if I'm being serious and not joking around, I don't want them to have Gihun kill the baby. That would have been out of character for him and I don't see him do that. So if I ever make any post that "suggests" that, it's because I'm joking and I don't actually mean it. Like how I'd sometimes say I want my blorbo to get eaten by a shark or worse, I don't actually want my blorbo to get eaten by a shark.

"rather than encouraging people to joke about infanticide" - hmm, I say this with respect, I genuinely don't see silly memes as 'encouraging people to joke about infanticide'. Because from how I see it, everything I joke about is within fictional world. I also joke about other adult characters' fates (not just SQ characters), like how I joked about Loki from MCU got his neck broken in Infinity War, most of which are my own favorite characters, that doesn't mean I'm 'encouraging people to joke about homicide or death'. It's just within fictional setting and it should never have been taken seriously.

"I really don't want to sound aggressive, I just truly feel that this isn't the way to approach this discussion" - the baby meme is not the way to approach this discussion, that is correct, because the meme is never supposed to be a real, serious discussion. It's supposed to be just a meme, a silly joke. NOT a real discussion. (As previously stated, my real discussion when it comes to this is that the baby plot as a whole is a Terrible Writing Decision meant to make sure Gihun ended up sacrificing himself in the end, it should never have come down to that, as in Gihun and the baby should never have been in that situation to begin with, but I don't see someone like Gihun kill the baby, and it would have been way out of character if they made him do that.)

"Encouraging people to be callous and uncaring about a literal BABY feels more like a VIP perspective tbh" - I see anon's concern and I respect their opinions. However I'd like to also clarify that the meme is never supposed to be "that deep". I joked about Gihun's death and I LOVE Gihun so much, and yes, his death made me cry for days (obviously, I know he's 'just a fictional character' but I still love him, however I also use jokes to cope with grief, especially when it comes to fictional characters). I love Inho and I joke about him going through some fucked up scenarios too, I'm sure I joke about Inho getting thrown off the platform before as well.

To sum it up, I only joke and meme about this baby because I don't see it as 'a real baby', even though it is real in SQ universe, I only look at it and see a doll, and that's why I'm comfortable joking about it. Like when someone takes off a barbie's head or an infant doll's head, I'm not going to scream murder, because I only see toys. It can be dead and then it can be brought back to life since it has no (real) life or real feeling. You obviously don't have to agree with me on this, I just wanted to share my own perspective.

Last but not least, I feel bad if my response last night created fandom drama where people were being unkind to anon. I admit that, without thinking anything, I also reblogged something that are mean towards anon. I thought I was still joking about that baby, but I think more about it and now I feel like I was encouraging people to harass anon and that is never my intention (yes, I may have made dark jokes about fictional characters, babies or adults, but I'd never condone harassment of real people). I do apologize for reblogging those. I should have thought about how it stopped being about the baby meme and started being more about anon being attacked. I regret that. It's never my intention to create fandom drama or to get anybody attacked.

I'm not trying to change anybody's opinion either. If you're uncomfortable with dark jokes about this baby, then I respect that.

Before I end this post—since people think I have some beef with this CGI baby lol—I actually adore the baby and I wish we got to see both Inho and Gihun being domestic and cute with her.

"But you joke about throwing the baby off the platform" I also joke about the deaths of all of my favorite (fictional) characters, some are dead in canon (and I cried when they died), some canonically alive.

Okay, last thing, I promise, I think we can disagree on things in fandom space without being mean towards each other. (I admit that I unconsciously encouraged fandom drama and harassment with the way I first responded to anon and what I reblogged, I wasn't thinking then, which is my bad. I apologize again.)
