I’m not even gonna go into every transformative and avant-garde creation that Yves Saint Laurent had brought to this civilization. All that Le Smoking, Mondrian, Trapeze, Safari, Morocco, etc, have been much discussed by others. I remember the first time I watched “L'Amour Fou”. The opening scene of Saint Laurent’s retirement speech in 2002, followed by Pierre Berge’s speech at Saint Laurent’s funeral in 2008, were enough to stir one’s tiny heart. I just watched it again, and this time I actually wrote down the English translation of the transcript word for word. The following part was particularly emotional to me: “Every man needs aesthetic ghosts in order to live. I have pursued them, sought them, and hunted them down. I have experienced many forms of anxiety, many forms of hell. I have known fear and terrible solitude, the false friendship of tranquilizers and drugs, the prison of depression and mental homes. I emerged from all that one day, dazzled but sober. Marcel Proust had taught me, that ‘the splendid and pathetic family of the neurotic is the salt of the earth’”. I did not choose this fatal lineage, yet it is what allowed me to rise up in the heaven of artistic creation, frequent what Rimbaud called 'the makers of fire’, find myself, and understand that the most important encounter in life, is the encounter with oneself...“

The paintings are too modern for me.

My entry for an art contest hosted by Albus Corvus, a Russian publishing house that specializes in books for kids and young adults. I picked the book about a girl who dyed her hair green and got in a fight with a teacher, but her friends stood up for her and all dyed their hair different colors.

I didn't make it to the shortlist, but there were more than a thousand entries, and I see how it could be difficult for the judges to narrow it down to only five.
