Ruby character dev sheet

Ruby:

Being in X (insert your world) she’s expected to be terrified but she’s instead bold and unafraid to make risks.

Why? Because she needs to be to protect Blossom of her own vulnerability if anything goes wrong.

Non confrontational character due to her promise to Blossom to not fight ever again instead she might flirt in a bold manner as it’s part of her personality.

Why the promise? Because they made both a genocide route and due to Blossom’s regrets on doing so she convinced her to not do it ever again and promised that it would be worth it for the good side of love.

She has a gem (Ruby) soul as a consequence of the genocide route hardening her original soul in to a harder crystal signifying her resilience to be broken or have regrets to be vulnerable like Blossom someone has to be the strong one.

She has an underlay of regrets like Blossom but she chooses to repress her feelings as she can’t afford to appear afraid of the challenges she might have to overcome in the future.

What happens when the facade brakes? Her reaction to having now her façade broken she will still show her boldness to keep her distance from the situation but she might become inconstant as that path is unknown to her. But it might only happen with her crush (if there’s any this wouldn’t be possible otherwise).

What causes this facade to break? Due to only her crush (again if any) being able to brake her facade, the cause will be the simple fact of any intense sign of care from their side.

· She might make Jokes even more aggressively or awkwardly, as a desperate attempt to push them away or regain control of the situation.

· Become unusually quiet or withdrawn, an unfamiliar state for her bold persona.

· Show a flicker of genuine fear or pain in her eyes before quickly re-asserting her bravado.

· Directly, and perhaps confusedly, question their sudden kindness, unable to process it.

What she carries beyond obvious

She carries a dried blossom petal that reminds her of the past promise while also makes her push forward she might reach for it in moments of nervousness while not showing it to "strangers" .

Contradictions: make unexpected contradictions to their persona something against type

She presents as spontaneous and "going with the flow" (in a bold, assertive way), but internally, she might be meticulously over-planning every social interaction, every potential conversation or every scenario to protect Blossom.

She's vowed never to fight again, but having committed a genocide route, she understands violence intimately. She might possess a surprising, almost chilling knowledge of how to inflict pain, or a very dark, cutting wit that surfaces when truly provoked. It's not physical, but psychological "violence.

She puts on a big social front, engaging freely, but beneath it, she might feel profoundly alone with her past and her repressed emotions. She shares little of her true self, even with Blossom (who only knows the "regret" part of the vow, but perhaps not the depth of Ruby's repression)

3 Things you must do to introduce a character:

Unexpected acts of sudden kindness might throw her off therefore start to make less sense while trying to recompose herself, gradually self decaying as opposed as suddenly shifting to changing her mind. She might argue against it but deep within she yearns for care and kindness.

Despite her aversion to violence, Ruby possesses an uncanny knack for evasive acrobatics and quick thinking in tight spots. She can navigate treacherous terrain with surprising agility, slip through narrow gaps, or use environmental objects to create distance and evade capture. This isn't fighting; it's a desperate, almost instinctual talent for not being caught or engaged, a remnant from her "on the run" past. 

Despite her outward composure, Ruby has a distinct aversion to abrupt or prolonged silence, especially in tense situations. Her mind is an anxious planner, constantly processing, strategizing, and filling space with her bold commentary or quirky jokes. When conversation or environmental noise suddenly ceases, it leaves a void that her mind instinctively tries to fill. This silence can heighten her internal anxieties, making her feel exposed and forcing her to confront the quiet dread of her repressed past. In such moments, she might become visibly more agitated, quickly launching into another quip, or reaching for her hidden petal, desperate to break the quiet.

Assessing strangers (first impression):  

She might be very bold perhaps even challenging them to show their true intentions in regards both of them but mainly Blossom. The only weapon they carry is her own claw gloves mainly for protection she might never hurt only protect due to the promise as assed before. Her body language might be expressive and she constantly makes sudden moves with her hands and act confident but have a subtle underlay of  uncertainty towards what the stranger might react to her and how they perceive her as opposed of how she thinks of herself.

Will she ever be pushed enough to brake her vow? She might be hard to push towards that place as she deeply cares for Blossom since they are soul bound if Blossom ever died she would too therefore she’s mainly protecting herself not Blossom.

How close can she be pushed? She might asses that she would give it in if it wasn’t because if she gives up it might mean her own end. Therefore she might never push herself down a hill just because a stranger told her to. What do they know anyways?

The only way to crack trough her might be to asses her love for a potential partner in the long run in a very slow way.

If her underlayer of love for a potential partner is revealed  it might be a braking point for her and might shift the dynamic completely upside-down.

· This could mean she completely loses her bold composure for a significant time.

· She might struggle to regain her footing, becoming more erratic or withdrawn than usual.

· Her repressed regrets might surface more frequently, causing her immense distress.

It might be a slow burn of fail after fail after fail that will slowly deteriorate over time as opposed as showing her past “trauma” as soon as something goes wrong instead she might use a few quirky jokes to repress the need of suddenly shifting to reveling her true self to a stranger.  And she might reach her pocket where her precious object is (dried blossom petal)  as an object of comfort while not being revealed yet.

If the stranger acts stoic and unresponsive she might escalate to anxiety and slowly move towards bad words at her braking point. Feeling utterly frustrated and a sense of powerlessness. But while also sticking to the none violence path keeping her vows to her only friend Blossom.

First words she says to strangers:

“Alright guys state your business now.”

Welcome to Nightmare Castle…

…where the skeleton monsters are all bad to the bone! Date, Hate or Escape - which route will you choose?

A narrative-rich hybrid dating simulation RPG set in the Undertale Multiverse featuring the Bad Sanses, with a supporting cast from many AUs!

THE ADVENTURE BEGINS!

A walk in the woods one evening leads you to a mysterious portal. Entering it will change your fate forever!

EMPTY SOUL…?

You learn something strange about yourself - that you SOUL Trait has faded to nothing, leaving it hollow, empty…but what could this mysterious affliction mean?

TOUGH CROWD!

You’ll meet many colorful characters along the way while exploring the Multiverse, but five of them are dateable! Each has his own unique personality with virtues and flaws, strengths and weaknesses. Some may need a gentle hand, while others won’t tolerate your pity. It’s up to you to discover how to get into your datemate’s good graces!

But be warned: befriending these broken souls isn’t always easy. The Nightmare Crew isn’t exactly a welcoming bunch. You’ll have to prove yourself to them somehow…

NIGHTMARE

“Tch - idiots, all of you…”

Not only is Nightmare the self-proclaimed King of Darkness, he’s also the God of Negativity and future Emperor of the Multiverse - that is, if he can destroy his fool of a brother, Dream, and those obnoxious starry-eyed allies of his. He’s cherry-picked some of the most powerful monsters in existence to serve under him, referred to simply as the Crew, in an effort to bring those ambitions to fruition and become ruler of all.

KILLER

“wanna have a *fun* time?”

Though he may be a skeleton, Killer can definitely be the life of the party! But don’t be fooled by his mischievous antics and smiling façade - Killer is Nightmare’s right hand assassin and commander of the Crew for a very good reason. He’s also the only one who gets away with calling Nightmare “boss” instead of your majesty or sire.

CROSS

“sometimes sacrifices must be made in order to gain true freedom.”

A former soldier from a destroyed timeline who once worked with Nightmare, Cross has a complicated past that has led him to come full circle. He sees his current contract with Nightmare as a necessary evil, a means to an end…though his goals are only known to a very select few.

DUST

“…i’d rather be alone…”

Only Killer and Nightmare seem to know anything about this quiet, brooding, temperamental loner who only recently arrived at the castle. You’ll typically find him in the library, poring over some old sci-fi novel with a distant look in his irises. Though he isn’t usually one for conversation, Dust does seem to talk to himself quite a lot…

BUTCHER

“heya sweetmeats, punkin, tidbit, lambchop, cupcake, treat…”

Butcher and his younger brother Pyre have been through hell and back, and sadly, it shows. These days, as long as there’s a roof over their heads and food on the table, Butch is willing to serve the hand that feeds Py - even if that means doing Nightmare’s dirty work. Still, it’s better than still being trapped in the ruined, horrific world they came from, at least…

But how to get all of those special ingredients? Well spend that G, high roller! Fill up your inventory with hundreds of unique items from distant worlds to help you on your quest!

However, life at Nightmare Castle isn’t always fun and games. When there’s several strong personalities all living under one roof, conflict is bound to happen! Defend yourself or help keep the peace with the strategic turn-based battle system! Tread lightly, or you might not last long…

And hey, we know you’d never want to cause trouble on purpose…right, partner?
