Okay, Doctor Who—at this point, you have to bring Romana back. If for no other reason than to let her ruthlessly roast the Doctor’s recent regeneration choices.
“You gave me grief for reusing the face of a princess we met once, and but you have now reused a face and regenerated into the face of your ex? Are you joking????”
Let her bully them. She’s earned it.

Anyway this is the funniest thing they could have done with Rogue. This should be a recurring joke, he should appear in a screen periodically to deliver a helpful message and say hey, I'm still in superhell, thanks for the superhell, I still love you though, in superhell, and the doctor should just be like. Cool thanks hot guy in superhell who loves me, and just continue to not rescue him from superhell. He's hot but not that hot I guess.

Important thing to remember is that "John Smith" was initially improvised by Jamie to cover for the Doctor when he was unconscious, which means that every time the Doctor uses it afterwards it's a reminder of his ex-husband.

some people seem to be under the impression that the doctor is naturally pacifistic and takes some frustration to snap and start killing. this could not be further from the truth: the doctor is naturally physically violent, and wastes significant amounts of energy every day on not punching all his enemies.

Cats (2019) is worse than Doctor Who (2006) even though the show was made with the budget of a crisp packet

So I think a critical difference with something like, say, Star Trek: Picard vs. Treks which allow themselves to be more episodic (AKA all pre-Kelvinverse Trek, but also Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks and a fair bit of Prodigy, though more in season 1 there) is that they do tend to have a lot riding on the season-long plot. Any particular season of Picard is going to have most of the stuff going on onscreen tightly hooked into the season arc - season 1, in particular, basically has *not a single negative circumstance in a single person's life* which cannot be traced back in some respect to the core plot. And whilst this can provide a sense of focus and cohesion, if the core plot just isn't to your taste then that whole season is basically going to be a wash. It genuinely is much less likely you'll be able to single out a clutch of episodes and say "OK, but THESE ONES were rad", because the season plot touches everything and if you dislike it badly enough it's going to intrude even on the bits you like. Conversely, Strange New Worlds learned right in its first season that it's actually OK to have a long-running story arc which just... resolves before the season finale, because it was its own little tale. And that it's OK to be very episodic even though you're not one of the animated shows. It's much, much easier to do that selective episode stuff when the show is properly episodic. But if you don't like any of the Picard season-long arcs - and I personally don't - then that show is going to be kind of a wash for you, just as you're not going to enjoy the back half of DS9 season 7 if you think the Dominion War is ass and you wish DS9 never went down that path.
if you're gonna get into star trek you gotta understand that YES when it works it's some of the best anything ever put to television. but you gotta understand. it absolutely does not always work. you cannot truly love star trek unless you accept the fact that while more than half of the episodes are good, a not-insignificant portion of trek episodes -- especially from the most widely-beloved classic series -- are actually dogshit and terrible. and I would recommend that you love those episodes too

If First Felon had expectations of honor and integrity like a normal administration, he would have to leave the golf course and spend his time replacing all these traitors.
