Only The Essentials, 2003 and 2022
Marina Constantine
A pocket from a pair of my dads old jeans that I had fashioned into a fully decorated bag about nineteen years ago. Now fixed to one of my weavings with the original ribbon strap and full of little felt representations of what a seven-year-old me would have wanted to carry around in her jurse (jean purse).

Sidewalk Bubblegum, 2014-2016 and 2022

Nylon rope, acrylic yarn and handmade acrylic nails
Made with glue on nails that were sculpted, painted, worn until they fell off my fingers and managed to be saved. I consider these to be an extension of myself and working with the leftover parts of me (literally) allows for the display items of significance and express how I see my personality. Each shows the signs of wear expected of something attached to the ends of your fingers and provides a fossil-like record of memories and moments in place and time.
