kyle ultimate thick n thin ~80% opacity for line, same brush at ~20% on a fifferent layer blurred with scratch blend for shadow, gradient map over everything, watercolour texture from texture labs (shoutout texture labs) ~5-15% overlay blending mode on top of that (mightve been turned up a bit on the wings...?)

Hi!! First of all, I love your art, it's so beautiful and unique, you're one of my favorite artists! Second, if you don't mind, I'd really like to know how you draw with cross hatching, I tried to do it but it didn't come out as pretty as yours. Sorry for any grammatical errors, I'm using translate

THANK YOU buhhhh it depends what youre trying 2 achieve i think.easiest wau to make it look Deliberate at LEast if not Nice is to draw lines like..........flowing along the surface and then come back over those with moer lines which are perpendicular and/or oblique but still follow the surface contours? if ever youre unsure check out your closest banknote they normally have fancy hatching from which we might draw inspiration ⇊ see last gen aus currency below. note the smoooooooth lines (with weight variation!!!!!!!!!!!) forming the shape of the hair curls on the 5. in all of these even though we have hatching on the face running in all manner of directions they still conform to the shapes in the skin.......... also see how the two sides of the leaves in the 5 use diagonal lines that meet at that central vein to hint at how that surface like.....works....for lack of a better word. U can see also on these how different line arrangementz create different textures (ie smooth hair and the fluffy flowering gum on the 5, wiry moustache on the bottom left, and interesting architectural detaiols on the bottom right, and the wacky colourful patterns in the BGs) and rthese are all visually distinct from the skin texture that's created with those lines of varying direction PLUSSSSSSSS....they;ve been broken up into dashes!!! also note the concentric circles used to indicate the spherical eyeball shape. it's nice don't U think⁉️ its like when statues have hollowed out irises. anyway, world's your oyster, try imitating a bank note, and if that's no help i could probs dosome actual instructions one day when i have some SPARE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! which may not be for a WHILE! keep 🆙 the good work!

what was your favorite part about working on yolo?

my fave part......same favourite part as any production......the wrap party at the end LOL probs non BG design shit there was like a old world map i got 2 owrk on that rachel and sarah traverse otw to tasmania and that was fun i dont think i did a good job per se but had fun (does anyone have a svreencap(@vityrady I still ow U a pic for the other one I know it) and some random fx/style frame bits oh AND a design for the fucking.... luscious marsupials anime they watch on the TV in the.....musical episode i think?(again does anyone have a screencap) and there weere these two posters rhey commissioned that drove me insane for like months just fucking months on end and they didnt use them which is for the best TBH but in a hellish way those were fun too and it was just like very funny working with both hosuemates in office and all at the same time if memory serves and UMMMMMMMM what else...........WAIIITTTTTT I just remembered the absolute best bit was the live action shoot it was just a hilarious and highly enjoyable day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! very fond memory. wait let me go and find some of the bts pics................everone hassle adult swim to make yolo OVA #justiceforep8 or whatever the last eepisode number was #releasetjegoodsniffcut #releasethecatcut #transformer

this sounds like an interview question lol, but im just an art student struggling with making art outside of school & i really admire ur work so im curious abt ur process

are YOU blending cream of rice, ice and protein powder together. is this autobiographical.

ASTUTE QUESTION but no man firstly i cbf with cream of rice (suboptimal form of cream and of rice) secondly i get probably(?) enough protein from many eggs and cans of tuna and so do not require a powder and thirdly i would never in my life own a BLENDER but i will admit to using one if housemates are in possession. and fourthly knowledge of the food hack in question was gleaned from watching body builders on you tube. if you want to log into some drama thats completely divorced from your daily life then get into watching body builders on you tube. or crossfit people. unless you run in such circles in which case i would recommend getting into old guys beefing about who has or hasnt actually been up the top of mt everest. and if you want a texturally pleasant sweet cold treat without 1 million corn syrups i would recommend frozen fruit (assorted berries is fine in a packet, mango or pawpaw is sublime but you must do the freezing yourself) mixed with yoghurt of your choice. the frozen fruit thickens the yog nicely. and if you want a cheeky savoury cold treat i wouod recommend frozen not thawed shelled soy beans
