Can anyone show me an example of this mythical much-vaunted "healthy relationship with sex" and how exactly someone would get it via growing up in in the uk or usamerikkka, regardless of whether they watch porn or not?
#healthy sex is had after marriage missionary style with the lights out#and the health starts when the shame does#txt#u

My lukewarm take is that one of the greatest privileges of all is the ability to exist as the «default setting», being seen as just a person, and not as a representative of a group of people who share your gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity or cultural/religious background. Which is why the «not all men» pushback against any mention of structural sexism was what it was. Because suddenly people who were used to being the default setting were being made into representatives of their gender, having to prove that they were better than the stereotypes forced upon them. And they did not like that one bit.

i like when the military comes up as a topic in jenny nicholson videos because everyone is an "army guy" and every time it comes up she's like "i don't know or care about the difference between the branches & ranks and i'm not going to learn 💕"
#m#maybe reading too much into things because she doesn't often post abt politics#but it really seems like she dislikes the us military more than she lets on in public#just like her tone & wording#but she'd probably face a lot of backlash if she were ever more explicit than mere irreverence#u

something that stands out rereading robinson crusoe; the forward makes a lot of excuses for the overt racism in the novel and warns against judging defoe for what crusoe "should have done." and one of the reasons given is that (in L.J. Swingle's opinion) the book is "about" mastering one's self and therefore one's environment by extension. don't judge crusoe for keeping slaves, and by extension do not indict the british colonial project, or the complete lack of attention and respect paid to colonised peoples and the working class, because crusoe himself is acquainted with hard labor! and like, sure, the themes of self mastery are certainly present, but i find it really annoying and odd that the forward makes no mention of crusoe's own time as a slave, that this part of his story is glossed over as mere "labor", and i think it's quite disingenuous of swingle to write off critiques of colonialism when it is a theme present from the very start of the novel.
i had almost forgotten about Xury! a fellow slave that crusoe happily sells to a portuguese captain within a few weeks of escaping to freedom. crusoe spends his time miserable during his enslavement, but only speaks of Xury's and Friday's "devotion" to him in the most positive terms. he's a little reluctant to sell Xury's liberty, but regrets doing so as soon as he has enough land that having a slave would be useful to him again. no reflection, no insight offered on the hipocrisy of his actions. it's a misery when an englisman is enslaved, but pure utility when it comes to possessing or selling his own human slave. i fucking hate this man. what defoe should have done was kill himself instead of writing this protestant dreck.
