“ew,” francesca said, scrunching up her nose at all of the insinuations coming out of coby’s mouth. sure, he was objectively attractive, but she wasn’t sure she could ever see him as anything other than the little kid she used to annoy at their parents gatherings. “you’re fuckin’ gross, you know that, right?”

“gross? wow i was trying to come onto you. i guess it wasn’t working.” he told her as he grabbed the ingredients to make his sandwich. the male wandered around the kitchen to grab some bread. “why are you even here. i thought you’d be out skiing at some resort anyway. we both know this isn’t our ideal situation.”

“they say that every time they release one, dude. that shit still smashes the same,” francesca said, eyes still trained on the phone in coby’s hand. she raised an eyebrow when coby said he could replace the phone, so she began looking around the place dramatically. “have you seen this place? there’s nothing around here. you’d be basically stranded without that thing.”

“well how are we going to know? we have to test this out. maybe first we drop it from around my knee then to my height then we can go from there. “ coby told them as he looked down to his feet. “plus i have a case on. cmon you think that’ll stop me from getting something i want. it doesnt matter where i am, i’ll get what i want when i want.”

“Ummmm, I don’t know about that anymore,” Sabrina said, her nose scrunched up at the thought. She wasn’t that desperate for the views, but she did wonder what else she could get Coby to do. “Can’t I do something else? Or can’t you do something else?”

coby furrowed his brows, what was this girl trying to do? “why would i do something else. rules are rules, sorry i don’t make them.” coby shrugged as he tossed the girl his phone. “so are you going to do it or am i just wasting my time.”

     “ pepperoni from a little place around here– i ordered because it was the closest one and it turned out pretty good. ” eric explained, munching on his slice as he heard coby’s opinion on the food. he mostly fixed himself something to eat so he couldn’t opine on that. “ is it? i haven’t eaten out much. ”

cobys eyes grew big at his words. “dude we should be making pizzas! that’d be pretty cool.” he nodded as he walked back into the house. “have you seen those videos of people throwing boiling water in the air and it turns to snow, we should try that too.”

francesca rolled her eyes at the kinky comment, not willing to give it any attention. coby was always getting on her nerves in a way that a younger brother might, but the threat of the world losing a gorgeous phone like the one in his hands was too much for her to handle. “i don’t think phones are meant to survive two storey drops, dude,” she said, cringing as he tossed it in the air, “like, what are you even gonna do when it inevitably smashes?”

“well how do you know that.” he said as he held his phone in his palm. “they say this is the strongest iphone yet. i think i want to test it out or see if i can catch it when i toss it. which ones more ballsy?” he hummed as his eyes wandered up to her eyes. “you act like there isnt a place to buy another an iphone.”

francesca knew she shouldn’t give coby anything more than a quick roll of the eyes, but she couldn’t help herself. she always took his bait — actually, she was quite infamous for taking literally anyone’s bait if it meant getting into something interesting, even if it was drama. it was just who she was at this point. “i’ll just fuck with you harder,” she challenged, “you know i always win.”

“wow sounds kinky, you know where my room is right?” coby called out as he peaked his head out from the fridge to look at her. “you think we’re gonna need whip cream?” he asked, holding up a can of whip cream before squeezing some into his mouth.

“That’s, like, a fair trade. I respect it. I’m for sure not gonna just throw you off the balcony too or anything.” She beamed, leaning over and tossing his phone probably a little too high in her excitement. She cupped her hands underneath it, then rose to catch it with too much force, sending it back up into the air. She squealed, readjusting her hands, just barely catching it on the way back down. Clutching it to her chest, she laughed breathlessly, eyes wide. “Oh my god. Oh my god.” Turning back to him, she said, still giggling, “That was so stupid.”

before coby could say anything else they had finally tossed the phone up... and caught it! of course coby wasn’t going to do anything to them if the phone happened to slip out of her hands but just adding on to the nerves made it more fun. “but it was super exciting!? see you have to start doing dumb shit to live life.”

“I don’t know what MMA is and I can’t afford to get you a new phone, so, like. I just think it would be better for both us if you lowered your expectations. Sometimes when you give your friend your phone to throw off a balcony, they just don’t catch it, and that’s just life. Not much to do about it.” Lindy shrugged, even though there was, in fact, a fair amount to do about it. For one, she hadn’t even tried yet, and could very easily just… not do it. But, like. Unrealistic. Bouncing on her toes to sike herself up, she said enthusiastically, “Okay! Okay. I’m gonna do it. Get ready. Like, emotionally, and financially, in case I drop it.”

“it stands for mixed martial artist. thats okay, then ill take your phone.” he nodded, daring to see if the other would actually do it. coby looked over the balcony then back at them. “Wait!” he said suddenly, his hands now in front of him. “nah im just kidding. just ready when i kick your ass when you drop me phone.” coby wasn’t serious about kicking their ass or doing anything to them really, he just wanted to scare her even more.

    eric watched as coby walked to him and took the pizza from his hands. speechless, he furrowed his brows for a second before grabbing another slice from the box and taking a bite from it. “ what the fuck… ” he muttered to himself. at least it seemed coby had forgotten about breaking his phone.

coby continued to enjoy what was now his slice of pizza. “what kinda of pizza is this, its pretty good.” he nodded as munched down on what was left of the slice. “the other food here is pretty shit.”

she grinned, stopping the video, and shoved her phone back into her pocket. “me? oh, no, dude, that’d end badly,” she said, setting her soda down, her hand hovered over her pocket, contemplating it. “no. i’m gonna not. i can’t break this shit again.”

coby shook his head before looking up at her. the male sniffed the air for a moment, “do you smell that? I smell bitch in here cause someone is too scared to do it.”

Could Sabrina even count that high? She hadn’t had to for the longest time… “Do I have to do all the little tiny ones? That seems like a lot of work…can’t I just make you famous instead?”

“yes even the tiny ones. why would i care about famous?” coby said like it had been obvious, especially considering who he was. “nope if you wanna do it you have to count, and im going to stay there and wait till you count it all.”

“i literally want to kill you right now,” francesca said, her arms crossed over her chest as if that might shield her from the cold winter breeze hitting them from the balcony. she’d kill for a new iphone right about now, but her parents had cut her off for the time being — something about ‘learning to be independent’ and ‘earning things for herself’, but she mostly tuned out when they began their lectures. “but you do you, i guess. i can’t stop you from ruining a perfectly good phone.”

“kill me? kinky, i like it.” coby smirked, his tongue swiping along his lips. he squeezed his phone for a second before tossing it in the air, letting it land in the palm of his hand. “i’m not ruining it. im testing its limit.”

    eric raised a brow at coby’s words, slowly chewing the bite he had just taken of his pizza slice. he watched the other toss his phone in the air and let out in an almost bored tone– he couldn’t understand the shit coby said sometimes. “ who you trying to entertain, coby? don’t do it, it might crack your screen. ”

his eyes narrowing in on the pizza, coby practically had the attention span of a 4 year old. “I want pizza.” he spoke, walking up to eric and just taking the pizza out of his hands. “thanks man.”

“Am I, like, legally responsible if I drop it?” Lindy asked, though she was already making grabby hand for the phone in his hand. “Also, you don’t get to kick my ass if I drop it. I wanna be, like, super clear about that.”

“if you drop it we’re going to fight. MMA style.” coby nodded with a stern look on his face. he wasn’t going to hold anything against the girl he just wanted to make her nervous as she did it. “if you drop it and it breaks you have to buy me a new phone.” he told her, tossing the phone to them.

murphy watched him flaunt his phone, as she sucked down her soda in her hand, raising her eyebrows incredulously. “do it, you won’t,” she goaded, reaching into her pocket to pull out her phone, holding it up. “i’ll film it, ready?”

coby’s eyebrows raised, was that a challenge? without batting an eye he he had tossed it up and caught it by the corner. “dont fuck with the pro.” coby laughed as he swayed back and forth. “now you do it.”

@ftcobyz​​ // francesca had never liked being around coby, but because their parents had been friends, she’d grown accustomed to him. it was pure bad luck that they’d end up at the same college, under the same roof for the winter, and francesca didn’t know how long they were going to be able to keep themselves from annoying one another. “can you quit that?” she harshly asked, looking up from the spot at the kitchen table, her noodles getting colder every second she spent distracted by her old, sort-of friend. 

coby had never disliked francesca nearly as much as she disliked him. maybe since they were always trying establish the dominance between them or all the attitude that they would give each other, who knows? coby had walked over to the fridge, swinging it open as he looked at all the foods that he could possibly eat as his fingers tapped against the door. “bruh chill im literally looking at the fridge. your vibes needa get rechecked.” he said, rolling his eyes at the girl. “im gonna fine ways to fuck with you even more now.” coby murmured as he shook his head.

Sabrina parked herself on one of the balcony chairs and threw her feet onto the railing while Colby stood by. His comment perked her up a bit, and she shook her head roughly. “No way! It would totally shatter into, like, a million pieces.” Still laughing, she pulled out her phone and started recording Coby. “Are you gonna do it though?”

“a million? are you going to count it?” coby said as he peered over the balcony once more then looking over to her. “if you count all the pieces IF it shatters ill drop it.”
