Tommy Hilfiger Camouflage Slim Fit Chino Trousers Size: 32x32 Price: $39
Overall Rating for FTMs: 5/5 Style: 5/5 (great casual look, awesome pocket depth) Material: 5/5 (comfy chino material) Cut: 5/5 (slims legs and makes shoulders look wider without looking tight) Fit: 5/5 (sits nicely on hips, not too loose or too tight, shows butt well)
Product Review: I purchased these from my local Tommy Hilfiger outlet store for the bargain price for $39.  (Yes, that is a bargain for Tommy trousers--they usually run about $100-$150.)  These pants fit really well and are a great choice for just about any look since they can be casual or edgy (thanks to the pattern) or dressy (thanks to the material).  They are lightweight, which makes them perfect for summer, spring, and fall, and find for winters in Texas where I live.  I have worn them with everything from plaid button ups to graphic tees to a button down with a tie and blazer.  So they are seriously versatile.  They fit REALLY well, and do a good job of emphasizing my manlier traits while not bringing attention to my slim shoulders or wider hips.  They also hang well, doing a good job of hiding my hips.  A great choice for slim guys like me out there, and the masculine pattern is great.  (Though I admit I did get a bit of teasing about having just come back from battle when I wore my combat boots with them.)  One of my favorite trousers I’ve tried so far and well worth the price.

Slim Tapered Moto Jeans from Guess Size: 32x32 Price: $88 (on sale)
Overall Rating for FTMs: 3/5 Style: 4/5 (nice and edgy... moto design was a little strangely angled) Material: 4/5 (a bit thicker than I like in denim) Cut: 3/5 (good slimming on lower leg, upper leg a little baggier than I like) Fit: 2/5 (a little wide at waist, but a size down was too tight for my ladyhips)
Product Review: I bought these online from Guess.com last week.  They were a tiny bit big, but I think that a size down would have been too small for my hips.  :(  They were a little long as well, but not too bad.  The knee design was at the appropriate place for my leg.  Though they are a little baggier than I like (baggy is not great for my skinny boy form), they are definitely stylish and should look MUCH better once my shoulders fill out a little more, evening my upper body out with my lower body.  Not my favorite of the pants I’ve bought so far, but they are the first pair of actual jeans I have purchased.  The slim tapered leg is much better than the regular cut leg, that’s for sure!

HZMK Wool and Velvet Blocked Blazer  Size: 34 (Asian XL, US Small) Price: $44.99
Overall Rating for FTMs: 4/5 Style: 4/5 (Very cute, I really like the colorblocking.) Material: 4/5 (Nice enough for the price, thick and sturdy, but no stretch at all) Cut: 4/5 (Nice and straight, a little shorter than I like--but I am taller than many FTMs, so I am giving it a 4 since being short is a plus for many of my bros.) Fit: 4/5 (VERY slim cut. This is an up for some FTMs, but it makes me nervous that since it fits so well now, it won’t fit when I am further along in my transition.  This is an upside for some FTMs who are smaller than me, however, so I am giving it a 4.)
Product Review: I was not 100% sure of this jacket when I pulled it out of the box.  Since it is Asian sized, it is a little small, and when I bulk up some it will not fit anymore.  That is enough that I am considering sending it back for an Asian XXL (chest size 36″).  I do like that the material is heavy and that it’s well constructed, though there are a few loose threads.  It looks really nice for the price; however, and its’ small Asian construction is perfect for trans guys who are on the smaller size.  Unlike most jackets, these sleeves and shoulders actually fit me, and it comes to a good length on my waist (though a bit shorter than I personally prefer, but I have a high waist and use length in my shirts and jackets to conceal this fact).  Overall, it’s a good purchase for the price.  Do NOT get too small a size!  This is a TINY jacket.  I am 5′7″ and 128 pounds with tiny bones, and the Asian XL is almost too small for me.  It would probably be perfect for short guys, though!

5'6" is actually not THAT short for a guy. I am continually shocked how many cis men are my height or shorter and I'm only 5'7". I would date short guys.
Because I’m a 5'6" guy, I feel hopeless in the dating world.
Reblog if you would date a short guy?

G by Guess Julius Men’s Moto Joggers - $28.47
Product Review: I.  Love.  These.  Pants.  I bought them in a size 32, which was absolutely perfect--not so tight they are hard to get on, but not so loose that I won’t be able to wear them when my hips start shifting around.  They are a fabulous length, not too long, and people keep commenting on how much they like them.  (My mom now wants her own pair, LOL.)  They look awesome paired with a casual t-shirt or with a button down, depending on what look you’re going for, making them very versatile.  And that’s not even taking into account how comfy they are!  Seriously, these are some rocking pants!  Also, they are made to sit on the hips without sagging in the crotch area, a big plus for those of us with short torsos (who resemble Urkel when we wear pants on our waists).  DEFINITELY worth the $28--especially since they are very well made and will definitely last a long time.

Urban K Men’s Slim Fit Leather Look Sleeve Hoodie - $50
Product Review: Last week I bought this hoodie from a company on Amazon.com in a size Small. The "leather look" sleeves do not reflect light in a way that makes it so you can tell it's supposed to be faux leather--it’s definitely not a wet look. It just looks like a solid black hoodie, but it fit really well and if you look closely you can see the “leather”. It's a very subtle style, and though my first reaction was to send it back, it quickly grew on me and I decided to keep it. A Small is great for a slim boned, 5'7" guy like me.  Thanks to my short torso the sleeves are a tiny bit long, but not enough that it’s noticeable.  I’m not 100% sure it was worth $50, but now that I have it, I have decided to keep it.  Next time I might put down a little extra money and go for a brand like Guess or Diesel, as the quality would be better.  Overall, though, I’m glad I bought it and would recommend it to anyone who wants a tiny touch of “edgy” without actually pushing any real boundaries.

Any Excuse to Go Shopping...
So I’ve come out of the closet as transgender and started on testosterone.  So what is the next step?
Buying a new wardrobe, obviously!  (Like, DUH.)
I created this side blog to document my progress on wardrobe crafting, which should not be too surprising considering that I am a professional stylist.  Styling women, mostly, but that doesn’t mean I can’t style myself, and hopefully pass on some tips about what clothes do and don’t work (for me, anyway) onto other FTMs.  Just so you know, here is a run down of my basic body shape right now:
Height: 5′7″ (plus I wear elevator shoes) Weight: 125 (no muscle at all) Bone Structure: Very slim Bra Size: 34B (completely compressed by my GC2B binders) Pant Inseam: 31″ Waist Size: 28″ Upper Hip Size (where I wear my pants): 32″ Widest Part of Hips: 36″ Torso Length: Short Arm Length: Short Shoulders: Narrow Neck: 13″ Shoe Size: 8 (men’s) 9.5 (women’s)
Hopefully going to the gym will help me bulk up a little, but for now this is what i am working with!
